With the 15th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Orlando Magic on Wednesday selected guard Cole Anthony from the University of North Carolina.

Anthony was widely projected to be selected in the middle of the first round and that proved to be true when NBA commissioner Adam Silver called his name at No. 15. Anthony said last week that the Magic were one of three teams he worked out with prior to the draft.

Following the selection, the camera panned to his draft party, which included his father, Greg, who played for the New York Knicks in the mid-1990s, and the rest of his family. However, one person caught fans a bit off-guard: Award-winning film director Spike Lee.

Of course, Lee has been a noted fan of the Knicks for several decades and often sits courtside at Madison Square Garden. He was in attendance in the mid-90s when Greg played with the Knicks and has known the Anthony family for quite some time.

As for Anthony’s reaction, the 20-year-old was visibly emotional after enduring a disappointing freshman season at North Carolina. He was excited to move onto the next step of his career and that will soon take place in Central Florida.

Watch Spike Lee’s hilarious photobomb of Cole Anthony after he was picked by the Magic

The Knicks have never made Spike this happy.

Spike Lee is one of the most notable basketball fans out there — specifically when it comes to the New York Knicks.

So it’s absolutely no surprise that he would have lots of connections with players around the league, both former and current. But absolutely nobody expected to see him at Cole Anthony’s house celebrating the biggest moment of the former Tarheel’s life.

Anthony was picked 15th overall by the Orlando Magic and was surrounded by family and friends when he was drafted. Among those people? Spike Lee, apparently.

The legendary director popped up out of nowhere and into the camera when the pick was announced.

Easily the best photobomb of the draft.

When you start to think about it, it makes a little bit more sense. Cole Anthony is the son of former Knicks guard Greg Anthony. Lee is a Knicks superfan, so of course, he’d be cool with some of the players.

But, still, everyone was surprised to see him there.

Even in a virtual draft, Spike just can’t stay away. Hilarous. Shoutout to Anthony, though. Just another amazing touch on a special night for him.

The Knicks, after all, have a coaching …

The Knicks, after all, have a coaching search to conduct, and throwing a disastrous 2019-20 season in the garbage will be easy. Who wants to remember David Fizdale’s stint, or Steve Mills’ or James Dolan’s issues with arena chants and Spike Lee? Moving forward to the Leon Rose era can’t begin in earnest until he hired his coach. To that end, sources say Tom Thibodeau is the heavy favorite to land the job.

Award-winning film director Spike Lee said on Monday that he is considering offering a role to Zion Williamson in a sequel of the popular “He Got Game” basketball movie.

Lee told Sage Steele during a Jordan Brand live stream that a sequel to the movie has been discussed over the years with Ray Allen, who starred in the 1998 movie as Jesus Shuttlesworth. Lee said he and Allen were trying to schedule a meeting with Williamson prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We were trying to get a meeting with him before [the coronavirus pandemic],” Lee told Steele, via SLAM. “Ray Allen and I were trying to get a meeting with him in New Orleans. I’m still for it.”

Lee said during the live stream that nothing is official with Williamson in a potential sequel to the film. He also stated that the storyline for the remake is still “murky” in his head but a return of Denzel Washington, according to Lee, is off of the table.

Zion Williamson starring in He Got Game sequel?

New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson may soon move from the court to the big screen. Director and producer Spike Lee and NBA champion Ray Allen were interviewed on the Jumpman show “Encore” and discussed early talks of a potential movie deal with the rookie. They said there have been conversations about Williamson starring in a “He Got Game” sequel. The original 1998 movie was directed by Lee and starred Ray Allen as star basketball prospect Jesus Shuttleworth.

“I said to myself, you’re here. Let’s …

“I said to myself, you’re here. Let’s make the best of it. Give it all you got. Don’t leave nothing in the tank. And then you can sleep at night,” Hardaway said. “That’s what I did. It does f–k with you mentally because it’s just — the Garden, the mystique of the Garden. You got Spike Lee on the sideline, you got all these stars, and they want to win so badly, and we weren’t winning. And I was a part of that negative tradition of the Knicks haven’t won in a while. And that bothered me too, because I felt like those fans out of all the fans in the NBA deserve to win. They’re loyal.”

When Air Jordans hit the sneaker scene, …

When Air Jordans hit the sneaker scene, Spike Lee got the call of a lifetime from Nike to star in a commercial alongside who most people call the greatest basketball player of all time. “I was completely surprised when it blew up. It changed the culture and I’m just happy I was a part of it,” Lee told “Good Morning America” on Monday about the 1991 commercial with Michael Jordan. “It was 100% accident. When I made that film, Mars [Blackmon] had to wear Jordans, that’s all it was.”

Lee, who created and starred as the …

Lee, who created and starred as the shoe-obsessed character in his film, “She’s Gotta Have It,” gave credit to Nike’s founder for giving his stamp of approval for the campaign. “Nike’s agency saw the film, called me up outta nowhere and said, ‘we want you to be in a national campaign with Michael Jordan, you play Mars Blackmon, but there’s one catch Michael Jordan has not seen the film and does not know who you are,’” Lee recalled, laughing about his early days in the industry. “We gotta give credit to Phil Knight. It’s his decision — to have a black guy be the face of your company — so give him credit and the rest is history,” he added.
