Matt Coghlin is having an impressive year in the USFL:

Matt Coghlin was a steady staple of Michigan State’s special teams room for five years with the Spartan program. Coghlin finished his MSU career 76-for-104 on field goals and a perfect 148-of-148 on extra points.

Now, Coghlin is looking to make a professional career out of kicking and he is making a good case for it. In the New Orleans Breakers game on Saturday, Coghlin drilled a 55-yard field goal. You can watch it via Twitter:

Former Michigan State CB signed by Michigan Panthers

The Michigan Panthers have signed a former MSU cornerback for the 2023 spring

Josh Butler was a four-star cornerback prospect who had a solid five-year tenure in East Lansing playing for Mark Dantonio and Michigan State. Unfortunately, Butler hasn’t caught on in the professional ranks yet, but he may have gotten his break.

The Michigan Panthers of USFL have made the decision to sign Josh Butler for the 2023 spring.

MSU football DL Jacob Slade selected in USFL draft

The Pittsburgh Maulers have selected Jacob Slade in the USFL draft:

Michigan State defensive lineman Jacob Slade has been selected in the 2023 USFL draft. The Pittsburgh Maulers have selected Slade with the 65th pick in the 9th round of the draft.

Slade still has aspirations of getting drafted in the NFL draft later this year, which is a very real possibility, but the Maulers have given Slade a professional opportunity by selecting him in the USFL draft.

Michigan State football OL Jarrett Horst gets picked No. 1 in USFL draft

A Michigan State player has been selected with the first overall pick in the USFL Draft:

Michigan State left tackle Jarrett Horst was selected with the first overall pick in the 2023 USFL draft by the Michigan Panthers. Horst transferred to Michigan State from Arkansas State and has been with the Spartans program the past two seasons. The Michigan State offensive lineman looks to have a strong start to his professional career in the USFL with hopes of getting a chance in the NFL.

WATCH: Former Michigan State football TE Matt Seybert scores USFL TD

Matt Seybert found the endzone during the Pittsburgh Maulers season finale on Sunday:

Matt Seybert was back on the gridiron for the first time in a long time. After an injury kept him from participating in the USFL this spring, he was finally cleared and given an opportunity to play for the Pittsburgh Maulers in their last regular season game of the year.

In his debut as a whole, Seybert caught 3 of his 4 targets for 19 yards and his day was capped off with a fourth-quarter touchdown.
