Former MSU kicker Matt Coghlin has been selected in the UFL draft

The United Football League is set to bring more football to America this spring, after the USFL and XFL merged together to form the new league.

With the new league, and shuffling of teams and players, the league held a draft to continue their player selection process.

In that draft, the Memphis Showboats selected former MSU kicker Matt Coghlin, who will get a chance at the professional level.

Matt Coghlin is having an impressive year in the USFL:

Matt Coghlin was a steady staple of Michigan State’s special teams room for five years with the Spartan program. Coghlin finished his MSU career 76-for-104 on field goals and a perfect 148-of-148 on extra points.

Now, Coghlin is looking to make a professional career out of kicking and he is making a good case for it. In the New Orleans Breakers game on Saturday, Coghlin drilled a 55-yard field goal. You can watch it via Twitter:
