Women’s NCAA Championship Game: Iowa vs. South Carolina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Iowa vs. South Carolina odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Iowa Hawkeyes (34-4) and South Carolina Gamecocks (37-0) meet Sunday in the National Championship Game of the Women’s NCAA Tournament. Tip-off from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland is slated for 3 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Iowa vs. South Carolina odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

It will be a rematch of a 2023 semifinal as a pair of No. 1 seeds clash in Cleveland.

Iowa advanced after a 71-69 win against No. 3 seed UConn Friday. Things got off to a slow start, but the Hawkeyes came on late. However, there was a controversial offensive foul on the Huskies with 3.9 seconds left with them trailing 70-69. Iowa got the ball back and it hung on for the win, although a late G Caitlin Clark missed free throw helped UConn grab the cover as a 2.5-point underdog.

The Hawkeyes shot just 45.8% (27-of-59) from the field, and just 28.0% (7-of-25) from behind the 3-point line, while turning it over 16 times. Iowa finished with a 37-to-29 rebounding margin as G Sydney Affolter, Clark and G Kate Martin combined for 24 of those boards. Meanwhile, it was F Hannah Stuelke who led the team with 23 points as Clark scored 21 points while struggling from behind the 3-point line (3-for-11).

Iowa has managed a 2-3 against the spread (ATS) mark in its 5 NCAA Tournament games, while the Under holds a slight 3-2 edge.

South Carolina rolled to a 78-59 semifinal win over 11th-seeded NC State Friday. The Gamecocks actually led just 32-31 at halftime, but the Gamecocks used a 29-6 run in the 3rd quarter to pull away for the win and cover as 11.5-point favorites, while the Under (139.5) hung on.

The Gamecocks were led by C Kamilla Cardoso, who went for a game-high 22 points with 11 rebounds and 2 blocked shots, while shooting an efficient 10-of-12 from the field. G Raven Johnson chipped in with 13 points, while G Te-Hina Paopao ended up with 10 points and a team-best 6 assists.

Like Iowa, South Carolina is 2-3 ATS in the Tournament, while the Under is 4-1 in the 5 outings.

South Carolina is No. 1 and Iowa is No. 2 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Iowa vs. South Carolina and predictions

Prediction

South Carolina 81, Iowa 76

Moneyline

South Carolina (-275) will cost 2.75 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward.

The unbeaten Gamecocks should get the job done in this revenge game after being bounced by the Hawkeyes last season in the Final Four, but I’m not willing and can’t suggest backing a -275 favorite in any sport.

However, expect Iowa (+220) to put up a good fight. This should be an epic cap for one of the most memorable seasons in women’s basketball history.

AVOID a moneyline play unless you’re willing to take a chance with Clark and the Hawkeyes.

Against the spread

IOWA +6.5 (-110) is worth backing, catching more than 3 buckets. Clark and Co. will be a tremendous test for unbeaten South Carolina.

Iowa stunned South Carolina last season 77-73 in the Final Four in Dallas, snapping a 42-game win streak for the Gamecocks. Clark scored 41 points to set a Final Four record, and you can bet she’ll be front and center for the Hawkeyes Sunday, especially after an ugly shooting performance in the semifinal against UConn.

Over/Under

UNDER 159.5 (-110) is the lean in this title game.

The Under has cashed in 4 of 5 NCAA Tournament games for South Carolina, while cashing in 3 of 5 outings for Iowa. The total almost went low in the UConn game, too, but a late free throw by Clark flipped the total in favor of the Over by a half-point.

Women’s NCAA Tournament: NC State vs. South Carolina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s NC State vs. South Carolina odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The NC State Wolfpack (31-6) and South Carolina Gamecocks (36-0) meet in a Friday semifinal at the Final Four in the Women’s NCAA Tournament. Tip-off from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland is slated for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the NC State vs. South Carolina odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The 3rd-seeded Wolfpack meet the top overall seed Gamecocks with a trip to the national title game on the line.

NC State won 64-45 in the 1st round against 14th-seeded Chattanooga at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, but the Wolfpack failed to cover as 25.5-point favorites as the Under (120.5) cashed. In the 2nd round, also at Reynolds, the Wolfpack pushed past the Tennessee Lady Vols 79-72, covering as 5.5-point favorites with the Over (140.5) connecting.

The Wolfpack were underdogs against 2nd-seeded Stanford in the Sweet 16 in Portland, but NC State won 77-67 as a 4.5-point underdog as the Over (134.5) cashed for a 2nd straight outing. NC State then bumped off a No. 1 seed in the Regional Final, topping Texas 76-66 as a 5.5-point underdog, cashing the Over (136.5) for the 3rd consecutive contest.

NC State is 20-17 against the spread (ATS) in games with a line this season, and it is 2-0 ATS in 2 games as an underdog of 5.5 points or more. The Over has a slight 19-18 edge.

For South Carolina, it paddled 16th-seed Presbyterian 91-39 in the opening round, even with C Kamilla Cardoso out due to suspension. The Gamecocks didn’t cover the huge 54.5-point line and the Under (130.5) hit. In the 2nd round, North Carolina provided very little resistance as South Carolina rolled 88-41 to cover as a 22-point favorites, as the Under (135.5) hit again.

In the Sweet 16, 4th-seeded Indiana came to play, and South Carolina narrowly escaped with a 79-75 win. Cardoso had 22 points and 7 rebounds, but Carolina came nowhere near covering as a 16.5-point favorite and the Over (143.5) cashed. In the Elite 8 round, South Carolina dispatched No. 3 seed Oregon State 70-58, but again, the Gamecocks failed to cover as 15.5-point favorites as the Under (134.5) hit.

South Carolina has obviously been dominant this season, but it is just 15-17 ATS games with a line, while the Over has a slight 17-16 edge when a total was offered.

NC State vs. South Carolina and predictions

Prediction

South Carolina 74, NC State 67

Moneyline

South Carolina (-800) will cost 8 times the potential return. While the Gamecocks are unbeaten, there is no way to justify risking that much for such a small return.

NC State (+550) has already shown an ability to bump off a No. 1 seed, ousting Texas, and it sent No. 2 Stanford packing, too. Coach Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks will certainly have their hands full with C River Baldwin, G Aziaha James and the upstart Wolfpack.

AVOID.

Against the spread

NC STATE +11.5 (-110) is a strong play catching double digits in this national semifinal.

South Carolina, while certainly dominant in the win-loss column, is just 1-3 ATS in this tournament. Meanwhile, State has covered 3 straight, including the past 2 outright wins as an underdog.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Over/Under

OVER 139.5 (-110) is the lean and worth a half-unit play at most.

The total has gone high in 3 straight games for the Wolfpack, while the Over has cashed just once in 4 NCAA Tournament games for the Gamecocks.

Still, we should see enough offenses from both sides to push this one just across the finish line for an Over.

March Madness: Oregon vs. South Carolina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Oregon vs. South Carolina odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 11 seed Oregon Ducks (23-11) face off against the 6th-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks (26-7) Thursday in a 1st-round game in the NCAA Tournament. Tip from PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Oregon vs. South Carolina odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Oregon just finished an amazing 3-game run to win the Pac-12 Tournament title, capped by a 75-68 title-game victory over the Colorado Buffaloes. They won outright as 2.5-point underdogs and the Over (139.5) cashed. The Ducks are led by 1st-team, All Pac-12 player C N’Faly Dante, who averaged 16.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Oregon is 16-18 against the spread (ATS) this season, but closed out the regular season just 1-9 ATS over their last 10 — The Ducks went 2-1 ATS in the conference tourney.

The Gamecocks were dismantled in the SEC quarterfinals by the Auburn Tigers 86-55. South Carolina failed to cover as a 7-point underdog and the Under (144) cashed. Despite the disappointment in the conference tourney, this team can lock down opponents defensively. The Gamecocks allowed just 67 points per game for the season, was tops in the SEC. They finished 23-10 ATS, including 4-1 ATS in their last 5 regular-season games.

South Carolina is No. 17 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Oregon vs. South Carolina picks and predictions

Prediction

South Carolina 71, Oregon 65

Moneyline

PASS.

This is an odds play, but I’m going to stay away from the moneyline and look to the spread for this bet. You are giving less than 2 points with South Carolina and you are getting less juice. When you’ve got a line that big, it’s basically the same as taking the moneyline, so I’ll take the better odds.

Against the spread

BET SOUTH CAROLINA -1.5 (-102).

While it was fun to see the Ducks run through the Pac-12 Tournament, that magic ends in this matchup with the Gamecocks. South Carolina played in arguably the toughest conference in the country and finished in a 4-way tie for 2nd place at 13-5. The Gamecocks did that by shutting down high powered offenses and making clutch shots throughout the season.

South Carolina was also one of the best teams in the country when it came to covering the spread. As mentioned, it is 23-10 ATS, including 4-1 ATS in its last 5 on the road and/or neutral courts.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET OVER 133.5 (-110).

I know I’ve focused a lot on how impressive South Carolina’s defense can be, but the Over is 4-2 in its last 6 games. The Gamecocks are also 5-1 going Over this 133 total in their last 6 games.

When you look at the Ducks, the Over was 2-1 in the Pac-12 Tournament and 3-1 in their last 4 games of the regular season.

SEC Tournament: South Carolina vs. Auburn odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s South Carolina vs. Auburn odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 16 South Carolina Gamecocks (26-6) battle the No. 12 Auburn Tigers (24-7) at Bridgestone Arena in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals Friday. Tip is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the South Carolina vs. Auburn odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Auburn is No. 12 and South Carolina is No. 16  in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. The Tigers finished the regular season with a 13-5 conference record and are seeded 4th in the tournament. The Gamecocks were also 13-5 in the SEC are seeded 5th.

Auburn closed the regular season with a 92-78 home win over the Georgia Bulldogs, failing to cover as a 16.5-point favorite. The Tigers have won 3 straight games and finished the season 19-10-2 against the spread (ATS).

South Carolina beat the Arkansas Razorbacks 80-66 in the 2nd round. The Gamecocks have won and covered in 5 of their last 6 games. South Carolina was arguably the most surprising team in the SEC this season, ending the year with a 22-9 ATS record. It lost to Auburn by 40 on Feb. 14, the lone matchup between the 2 teams.

South Carolina vs. Auburn picks and predictions

Prediction

Auburn 82, South Carolina 73

Moneyline

PASS.

Auburn is the better side, as it proved against USC earlier in the season. Expect it to come out on top, but it isn’t worth a play at -320.

Against the spread

BET AUBURN -7.5 (-110).

The Tigers have the efficiency and the resume on their side. Their top 2 scoring options both shot over 54% during the regular season while both South Carolina’s top options were under 42%. The Tigers also beat the Gamecocks by 40 earlier in the season and have covered 2 of their last 3 games, being a double-digit favorite in each.

South Carolina has failed to cover in its last 2 games against ranked teams (Tennessee and Auburn) and may struggle given its more tired legs from its Thursday matchup. With those trends, back AUBURN -7.5 (-110).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 141.5 (-115).

The Gamecocks have gone Over in 4 of their last 5 games and have tallied at least 80 in 3 of their last 4. The Tigers have also gone Over in 4 of their last 5 games, notching at least 92 in 2 straight and at least 78 in 5 in a row.

They have also allowed at least 74 in 4 of their last 5, so the Tigers defense hasn’t been dominant either. With all that in mind, take OVER 141.5 (-115).

South Carolina at Mississippi State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s South Carolina at Mississippi State odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Mississippi State Bulldogs (19-11, 8-9 SEC) welcome the No. 16 South Carolina Gamecocks (24-6, 12-5) to Humphrey Coliseum Saturday. Tip is set for 2:30 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the South Carolina vs. Mississippi State odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Bulldogs lost to the Texas A&M Aggies 75-69 Wednesday, failing to cover as 2.5-point road underdogs. They have lost 3 straight after a 5-game winning streak. Mississippi State has covered 4 of its last 8 and is 14-15-1 against the spread (ATS) on the season.

South Carolina is No. 16 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. It is coming off a 66-59 home loss to the No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers, closing as a 6-point home underdog. The Gamecocks have won 3 of their last 4 and covered in each victory. They are 21-9 ATS on the season.

South Carolina beat Mississippi State 68-62 at home Jan. 6, covering as a 2.5-point underdog.

South Carolina at Mississippi State picks and predictions

Prediction

South Carolina 68, Mississippi State 66

Moneyline

LEAN SOUTH CAROLINA (+184).

The books still don’t believe in the Gamecocks. They were 4- and 6-point underdogs in their last 2 road games and won straight up by 13 and 2, respectively.

All 5 of South Carolina’s top scoring options shoot better than 40% from the field, while Mississippi State has 3 of its top 6 options shooting under 40%. The efficiency and consistency are there to back the Gamecocks in this one.

The Bulldogs have also lost and failed to cover in 3 straight, so they haven’t been playing well lately. Take SOUTH CAROLINA (+184).

Against the spread

PASS.

The value here should be on the plus-money Gamecocks to get the job done on the road.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET OVER 132.5 (-115).

The Bulldogs have scored at least 69 points in 7 of their last 8 games. They have allowed at least 75 in 3 straight as well. Mississippi State has gone Over in 3 of its last 4 games and is 15-15 O/U on the season.

South Carolina has notched at least 70 points in 3 of its last 4 games and has gone Over in 2 of its last 3 and 4 of its last 7. Considering the trends for both sides, take OVER 132.5 (-115).

Tennessee at South Carolina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Tennessee at South Carolina odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers (23-6, 13-3 SEC) face off against the 16th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks (24-5, 12-4) Wednesday. Tip-off from Colonial Life Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN 2). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Tennessee vs. South Carolina odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Tennessee picked up an 81-74 win vs. the then-No. 13, now-No. 17 Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday, while covering as a 4-point road underdog. The Vols did not shoot well (36% from the field), and they lost the rebounding battle 33-30 in the win, but they turned the ball over only 6 times and held Alabama to 24.3% (9 of 37) shooting from deep. The Volunteers have won 6 consecutive games and 8 of their last 9.

South Carolina beat the then-No. 24, now No. 25 Florida Gators 82-76 Saturday, covering as a 2-point home favorite. G Meechie Johnson’s 25 points led 4 Gamecocks in double figures. It was South Carolina’s 3rd consecutive win and 10th in its last 12 outings.

South Carolina won at Tennessee 63-59 Jan. 30 as a big 14-point underdog with the Under (135.5) cashing.

Tennessee at South Carolina picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 72, South Carolina 66

Moneyline

PASS.

Tennessee (-225) is 8-2 in its last 10 matchups vs. South Carolina, and I don’t expect the Gamecocks to sweep the Vols this season, so Tennessee should win. However, the Volunteers are not worth the risk of betting on as -225 favorites. Back the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

LEAN TENNESSEE -5.5 (-106).

The Volunteers have covered the spread in each of their last 3 games and are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 outings. Tennessee is 15-13-1 ATS this season and is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 matchups vs. South Carolina, being 6-1 in the last 7.

This is only a lean because South Carolina has been the better team ATS this season — at 21-8 — and because the Gamecocks are equally hot ATS at 7-3 in their last 10.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 139.5 (-105).

The Under has hit in 4 of Tennessee’s last 5 overall and has hit in back-to-back road outings for the Volunteers.

For South Carolina, the Under is 15-14 on the season. The Under also hit in the season’s 1st matchup between these squads.

This is a very slight lean as the Over has been safer for Tennessee this season (16-12-1).

Florida at South Carolina picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 73, South Carolina 71

Moneyline

Florida is the lean, however a better relative value can be found taking the Gators and the points. STEER CLEAR.

Against the spread

Florida has logged ATS wins in each of its last 3 visits to Columbia. Overall, UF is 3-1 ATS in the last 4 series meetings.

South Carolina is on a nice trend line, but the Gators are the more consistent squad. The faster-tempo UF five has an efficient offense, and it gets to the line more often.

USC launches a ton of 3’s, but a 32.1% accuracy mark over its last 5 games does not inspire confidence especially when going against a Gator team that defends well along the perimeter.

BACK GATORS +1.5 (-104).

Over/Under

The last 19 USC games against teams with winning records have yielded a 12-5 record for the Under.

This is a classic tortoise (South Carolina) and hare (Florida) matchup, but both sides have been trending toward lower pace figures of late. The way both sides hit the offensive glass and the way UF gets to the stripe is cause for concern. but the UNDER 145.5 (-110) is a slight lean here.

South Carolina at Missouri picks and predictions

Prediction

Missouri 38, South Carolina 31

Moneyline

PASS.

South Carolina just hasn’t played as well as expected against SEC opponents, and on the road, it will struggle to win this one. However, Missouri is 0-1 in SEC play at home, rendering its -310 tag unplayable.

Ultimately, pass both options on the moneyline.

Against the spread

LEAN SOUTH CAROLINA +7.5 (-110).

South Carolina is 1-1 ATS on the road in SEC play and was a double-digit underdog in both games. It has scored 37 or more points in 2 of 3 its last 3 games, so the explosive, Rattler-led offense should be able to score and keep pace with a dynamic Missouri attack.

The Tigers gave up 21 to Vandy and Kentucky and 49 to LSU all within the last 3 weeks. It is 0-1 ATS at home against SEC opponents and 1-3 ATS at home against all opponents. It hasn’t made its home a fortress and may struggle to win by multiple scores.

Take SOUTH CAROLINA +7.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET OVER 59.5 (-110).

Missouri is 6-1 O/U this season. It has a high-octane offense that has scored 30-plus points in 6 of 7 games and a defense that has allowed 20-plus points in 5 straight games. It is 3-0 O/U in SEC play as well.

South Carolina is 4-2 O/U and have gone Over in 3 straight games. It is 3-1 O/U in SEC play and has scored at least 37 points in 3 of its last 7 games, allowing 40-plus points in 2 straight.

Expect this to be a fast-paced battle. Take OVER 59.5 (-110).

Lock it in with Alex: Cash in on this SEC home team

There is a small home college football favorite in a Week 7 SEC showdown that Alex White really likes.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

“College football fans, this one’s for you.”

SportsbookWire.com’s Alex White likes an SEC home team Saturday afternoon.

She points out the team’s 2-3 record is misleading, that it’s well-rested after enjoying a bye week and it will have revenge on its mind.

Plus, there’s a strong series trend that backs her play along with the home side having the better quarterback in this matchup — which kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET (SEC Network).

BetMGM Sportsbook has the spread in this conference showdown at -1.5 as of Saturday at 5:07 a.m. ET.

South Carolina at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 31, South Carolina 28

Moneyline

PASS.

Both teams have strong offenses, but the Volunteers have the edge on the defensive side of the ball. Tennessee (-450) should win at home with its far superior defense, but there is no value to bet on it to win outright.

Against the spread

BET SOUTH CAROLINA +12 (-110).

The Gamecocks have been electric against the spread in SEC play, covering both of their games so far, losing by 10 as 26-point underdogs vs. Georgia in Week 3 and beating Mississippi State by 7 as 6-point favorites in Week 4.

Rattler is starting to show the confidence that had him among the preseason favorites to win the Heisman. The Tennessee defense still allows 190.8 passing yards per game, so while it is strong, Rattler should be able to operate some. The Vols are 0-1 ATS against SEC opponents, losing 29-16 to Florida as 4.5-point favorites.

Considering the differences in ATS records in conference play along with Rattler’s play and ability to move the ball throughout the first month of the season, take SOUTH CAROLINA +12 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 63.5 (-110).

Tennessee is 1-2-1 O/U this season and has allowed fewer than 30 points in all 4 of its games this season. Its offense has struggled as of late as well, topping 30 points in just 2 of its last 3 games. It is 0-2-1 O/U in its last 3 games and 0-1 O/U in conference play.

South Carolina is 2-2 O/U this season and 1-1 O/U in conference play. It struggled mightily against a strong Georgia defense, scoring just 14 points, but put up 37 points in its 2nd SEC game. The Gamecocks are allowing 27 per game in conference play.
