Social media roasts the Texas Longhorns who had zero players selected in the 2022 NFL draft

The Texas Longhorns hold a distinction with zero NFL draft picks twice in the last decade, and social media roasted them for it.

The Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns combined for seven selections in the 2022 NFL draft. And Oklahoma had the seven.

One of the more entertaining aspects of the draft weekend was the notable absence of a Texas Longhorns player getting selected. There were 262 picks made over the three-day event and zero Longhorns were chosen. Zero.

A Texas team that had the third-best recruiting class in 2018 and 2019 and a top 10 class in 2020 couldn’t get one player taken in the draft. They were one of three Big 12 schools to not have a player taken. The other two were TCU and West Virginia, not exactly schools that have been sitting at the top of the conference.

As you would guess, social media had a field day roasting the Texas Longhorns for their lacking presence during the 2022 NFL draft. If you love wading through a sea of burnt orange sadness, scroll with us as we share with you some of the best roasts of Texas Longhorns football.

Twitter reacts to Commanders selection of UNC QB Sam Howell

Sam Howell was a steal. What did Twitter think?

The Washington Commanders had multiple opportunities to select North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell before eventually landing him with the No. 144 overall pick — the first selection in the fifth round.

The Commanders acquired the Panthers’ No. 144 and No. 149 picks in a trade for the No. 120 selection and a seventh-rounder.

Howell was a three-year starter at North Carolina, breaking multiple school and ACC records. One year ago, some believed Howell would be in consideration for the No. 1 pick in 2022, but he struggled early after the Tar Heels worked to replace Howell’s top three wide receivers and top two running backs. Four of those players were selected in the 2021 NFL draft, including wide receiver Dyami Brown to Washington.

Howell was a steal for Washington. What does Twitter think?

Twitter reacts to Washington’s selection of Alabama RB Brian Robinson Jr.

Was social media happy with Washington’s selection of Brian Robinson Jr?

The Washington Commanders selected Alabama running back Brian Robinson Jr. with the No. 98 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft. The Commanders, which traded away their original third-round pick in the Carson Wentz trade, acquired the No. 98 selection from the Saints.

Robinson was Washington’s third pick, following first-round pick wide receiver Jahan Dotson from Penn State and second-round pick defensive tackle Phildarian Mathis of Alabama.

How was Robinson’s pick received on social media? Naturally, many fans were unhappy with the selection, while others realized Robinson is a legit talented back.

Here are some of the top Twitter reactions from Washington’s selection of Robinson.

Twitter reacts to the Commanders selection of Jahan Dotson

Twitter reacts to Washington’s selection of Penn State WR Jahan Dotson.

The Washington Commanders were determined to find another wide receiver in the 2022 NFL draft to line up opposite Terry McLaurin. When Drake London and Garrett Wilson were selected before Washington’s selection at No. 11, fans began to panic.

However, the Commanders wisely traded out of the No. 11 selection, moving back five spots, allowing the New Orleans Saints to select Ohio State wide receiver Chris Olave. Washington had been linked to Olave in the pre-draft process.

Washington moved down to No. 16 and selected Penn State wide receiver Jahan Dotson. The Commanders also acquired the No. 98 and No. 120 overall selections in the 2022 draft. Before the trade, Washington had only six picks. The Commanders added back a third-round pick they had traded for quarterback Carson Wentz.

So, how did Washington fans react to the move?

As you’d expect, there were mixed reactions, with many upset over the Commanders choosing to pass on Olave and Jameson Williams.

Over the Cap loved Washington’s trade with the Saints.

This fan clearly didn’t trust Washington’s brass to find a wide receiver.

Sadly, this is true.

This is a reasonable perspective. Dotson can play. He has excellent hands, high points the football, is great after the catch, runs strong routes and is also a standout punt returner.

Outside of Drake London, what other “big” target was Washington pursuing? The Commanders passed on Treylon Burks, who went No. 18.

Washington fans should be happy with a Tyler Lockett-clone.

Rapid reactions from LSU’s spring game

Here’s what everyone thought about Brian Kelly’s first spring game in Baton Rouge.

Football is back. At least, for one day.

As coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and the LSU Tigers took the field for the annual spring game, there were a lot of questions about how the four horsemen quarterback race would play out, how the freshmen would look and what would be the big difference between an [autotag]Ed Orgeron[/autotag] spring game and a Kelly spring game.

Not only that, but it was a massive day for recruiting as the Tigers had a ton of top talent in the house, and Kelly pulled out all the stops as he welcomed back some of the top LSU players of all time. [autotag]Tyrann Mathieu[/autotag], [autotag]Ja’Marr Chase[/autotag], [autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag], [autotag]Derek Stingley Jr.[/autotag], and more were on hand to witness the future of LSU football.

So, let’s take a look at some of the reactions on social media to see what people thought about the game.

Social media reacts to Ivan Melendez’s monster performance for Texas baseball

Ivan Melendez got the attention of the entire country with his two home runs on Sunday.

Ivan Melendez coming back for another season is one of the major reasons Texas baseball is ranked No. 1 in the country and a popular pick to win the national championship.

The first baseman had a breakout 2021 campaign hitting .319 on the season with a team-high 13 home runs. Melendez decided to return to Texas after getting selected by Miami in the 2021 MLB draft.

Melendez proved to the nation that his power has not gone anywhere with two mammoth home runs in Sunday’s victory over in-state rival, Rice.

The first bomb extended Texas’ lead to 6-1 in the fourth inning over the Owls. He took a 1-2 pitch over the centerfield monster on a ball that measured 451 feet.

It did not take long for Ivan to strike again. With two runners on in the sixth inning, he blasted another three-run homer over the left centerfield wall. This time it flew 441 feet in the air.

The “Hispanic Titanic’s” big day at the plate sparked lots of reactions on social media:

Twitter reacts to five-star OL Devon Campbell signing with Texas

Lots of excitement from around the program about Devon Campbell signing with Texas.

Texas added the final piece of the puzzle to its No. 5 ranked recruiting class on Wednesday.

Five-star offensive lineman Devon Campbell chose his home state Longhorns over rival Oklahoma. One of the highest-rated offensive lineman Texas signees since 2000.

247Sports composite ranks Campbell as the top offensive line recruit in the nation and No. 9 overall prospect.

At 6-foot-3, 310-pounds, Campbell is one of the top athletes in the country. He has the ability to block downfield and is an exceptional basketball player. Texas can look forward to watching plays like this during Campbell’s time at Texas:

Campbell joins an already impressive offensive line haul. Texas signed seven talented linemen including two five-stars in Campbell and Kelvin Banks.

Kyle Flood earned his paycheck in this recruiting cycle. Before this class, Texas has not landed a five-star offensive lineman since way back in 2009.

Campbell’s announcement sparked lots of excitement on social media among Longhorn players and fans:

Social media reacts to the latest Brian Kelly dance video

Here we go again with Brian Kelly dancing viral video

Oops, he did it again.

After going viral with a ‘Callin Baton Rouge’ dance video with quarterback Walker Howard, it appears that Brian Kelly is shaking up the social media world once again.

This time it is with tight end target from Westgate, Danny Lewis Jr. The three-star tight end was committed to Cincinnati before backing off his pledge. Tight ends coach and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock decided to rejoin Kelly down on the Bayou. Lewis is among the top prospects that LSU is looking to sign as the final signing period approaches.

While we understand the social media age when it comes to recruiting, not everyone was as enthused with the video making the rounds. Even Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin had to chime in.
