Broncos vs. Falcons could be flexed to ‘Sunday Night Football’

The Broncos’ home game against the Falcons in Week 11 could be a strong candidate to get flexed to ‘Sunday Night Football.’

The Denver Broncos‘ home game against the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 17 could be flexed to prime time.

Mario Vetanze, a certified posture exercise professional and massage therapist who lists Broncos players among his clients, has been leaking the team’s uniform combinations ahead of Denver’s games this season.

This week, Vetanze tweeted that he’s hearing “rumblings” that the Broncos will wear orange jerseys with orange pants against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 11 because the game could be flexed to Sunday Night Football.

The Denver-Atlanta game is currently scheduled to air on Fox at 2:05 p.m. MT. A flex to SNF would make it a 6:20 p.m. MT game on NBC.

If the game is flexed to SNF, an announcement would arrive by mid-week because the NFL has to give teams at least 12 days of notice.

The current matchup scheduled for SNF that week is the New York Jets (3-6) hosting the Indianapolis Colts (4-4). One could argue that the Broncos-Falcons game is a more intriguing matchup, and it will mark safety Justin Simmons’ return to Denver.

Stay tuned. If the game is flexed, an announcement is not far away.

1 major concern for 49ers against Cowboys

This could be a real problem for the 49ers on Sunday night!

The San Francisco 49ers will go into their Week 8 showdown with the Dallas Cowboys in desperate need of a win.

San Francisco’s schedule gives them an opportunity to make a playoff run if they can enter their Week 9 Bye with a 4-4 record. If they lose Sunday night and fall to 3-5, their path to the postseason becomes even more difficult.

Dallas has struggled through their first six games on both sides of the ball, but special teams is where things could really get sideways for the 49ers.

While the Cowboys’ offense and defense haven’t been great, their punt and kick returner KaVontae Turpin has been perhaps the best player at those two positions in the NFL. That’s particularly problematic for a 49ers coverage unit that’s surrendered a whopping 18.4 yards per punt return and 33.2 yards per kick return.

Turpin this season is averaging 19.2 yards per punt return and 43.0 yards per kick return. He also returned a punt for a touchdown in Week 1 against the Browns this season.

The 49ers have already had multiple games swing because of special teams mishaps, including long punt returns against the Rams and Chiefs, and a kick return touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks.

San Francisco is favored to win, but there may not be a player more capable of turning the game toward Dallas than Turpin against a shoddy 49ers special teams group.

Twitter reacts to Justin Simmons picking off Patrick Mahomes yet again

Justin Simmons has six career interceptions against Patrick Mahomes. No other player in the NFL has more than two.

Patrick Mahomes is going to have nightmares about Justin Simmons.

Simmons picked off a Mahomes pass late in the first quarter of a Sunday Night Football showdown between the Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3.

That marked the sixth time in his career that Simmons has grabbed an interception off a Mahomes pass. No other player in the NFL has totaled more than two interceptions against Mahomes.

Here’s a sampling of how Twitter/X reacted to Simmons’ latest takeaway:

https://twitter.com/BrandonPerna/status/1838017849685868641

https://twitter.com/ZacStevensDNVR/status/1838017729082572984

Simmons, of course, played for the Denver Broncos from 2016-2023, which gave him an opportunity to play against Mahomes and the Chiefs twice a season.

Denver released Simmons this spring to save salary cap space and the 30-year-old safety ended up signing with Atlanta. Sunday marked his first interception as a Falcon. Simmons now has 31 career interceptions since he entered the NFL as a third-round pick out of Boston College in 2016.
