One prediction has Alabama losing 2 games, but winning the SEC West

One full-season projection for the Alabama Crimson Tide predicts 2 regular-season losses, but an appearance in the SEC Championship.

In 2022, Alabama football lost two games by a combined total of three points. Some fans and analysts from around the country saw that and said Nick Saban’s dynasty might be on its last leg. While there wasn’t a conference championship appearance or a College Football Playoff berth last season, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

The Crimson Tide lost a decent amount of talent to the draft and the transfer portal, which some critics have pointed to as a big reason why the program can’t possibly bounce back in 2023. However, this is exactly why Saban and his coaching staff land top recruiting classes every year. It’s a matter of reloading, not rebuilding.

The upcoming season poses many challenges. This team, however, seems up to the task. How might they perform? Well, for now, we can only rely on predictions from fans and analysts until the season gets underway.

College Football News recently put together projections for every FBS team and had Alabama winning the SEC West and finishing the regular season record at 10-2.

Those two losses, they project, come at the hands of Texas A&M and Auburn, both games are on the road in 2023.

Last season, Alabama fell to Tennessee and LSU. College Football News has both of those games tabbed as wins for Alabama this year.

The SEC championship would consist of a historical one that has brought some amazing games: Alabama vs. Georgia.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football and SEC news as the 2023 offseason winds down.

SEC East 2023 preseason media poll: Georgia on top

What teams got the most votes to win the SEC East in 2023?

The Georgia Bulldogs are looking to win the SEC East for a third consecutive season. However, that is not the Bulldogs’ main storyline in 2023. Georgia is hoping to win a third straight national championship. The last team to win three consecutive titles in college football was Minnesota from 1934-1936.

Georgia’s top expected competition in the SEC East comes from the Tennessee Volunteers. Last year, Tennessee was a win over South Carolina away from likely making the College Football Playoff.  The Volunteers should have a strong offense again in 2023, but their defense remains a question mark.

A dominant majority of media members voted that Georgia would win the SEC. However, a shocking number, who probably shouldn’t be taken seriously, picked Vanderbilt to win the SEC East.

What is the projected order of finish in the SEC East and who is predicted to win the conference?

Media predicts final SEC East standings for 2023

Ladies and gentlemen, it is almost here. The 2023 football season is right around the corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is almost here. The 2023 football season is right around the corner. Let the hype train begin for each team that hopes to find itself at the top of the standings at the end of the year.

SEC media days have been going on this week in Nashville, and the media has released its rankings for where they think each team will finish in their respective divisions, as well as the first-place votes for each team.

The first-place votes and overall standings aren’t surprising. The standings are the same as they finished last season. What is surprising is that, for some reason, Vanderbilt received EIGHT first-place votes. I can’t explain that one.

Final 2023 SEC East recruiting rankings

What are the final recruiting rankings for all seven teams in the SEC East?

The Georgia Bulldogs run the SEC East. Georgia continues to recruit at a championship level after winning back-to-back national championships. However, Alabama landed the nation’s best recruiting class.

How is the rest of the SEC East division recruiting? Tennessee secured its best class in several years. Florida and South Carolina both signed top-20 recruiting classes.

Overall, the SEC continues to be the best recruiting conference in the country and it does not look like that will change any time soon.

Here’s the final recruiting rankings for all seven teams in the SEC East:

Here’s how the SEC standings look after LSU clinched the West division

The SEC Championship game is set, but the final order of finish in the SEC’s divisions remains to be decided.

The conference title game in the SEC is set with two weeks remaining in the regular season. By virtue of Georgia’s win over Mississippi State and LSU’s road victory over Arkansas (in addition to an Alabama win at Ole Miss), the Bulldogs and Tigers will face off in Atlanta on Dec. 3.

While we know who will occupy the top spots in both the SEC East and West, we don’t know exactly what the final order of finish will look like in each division. Results from the final two weeks could result in more shakeup below the top-seed line.

With that in mind, here’s what the SEC standings look like at the conclusion of Week 11.

Former Florida HC Dan Mullen predicts SEC order of finish

Dan Mullen’s SEC East predictions show no love to Gators

Just what everybody’s been waiting for … Dan Mullen’s preseason SEC predictions.

After being fired by Florida last year, Mullen enters his first season as a college football analyst with ESPN.

If you thought Mullen was going to show some love to his former team, you’d be wrong. The ex-Gators’ head coach picked Florida to finish fourth in the SEC East this season.

Here’s a look at Mullen’s SEC East predicted order-of-finish this season:

Which SEC East team has the easiest 2022 nonconference schedule?

Which SEC East teams have the toughest and easiest nonconference schedules in 2022?

The SEC is not known for playing the most difficult nonconference schedules. Georgia usually plays a respectable nonconference slate, but it does not pack the same punch when the Bulldogs play ACC cellar dweller Georgia Tech as it once used to.

Last year, Texas-Arkansas, Miami-Alabama, Clemson-Georgia, Pittsburgh-Tennessee, and Penn State-Auburn were among the conference’s most intriguing nonconference games. In 2022, there are several interesting matchups, including Alabama-Texas, Georgia-Oregon, Texas A&M-Miami, Florida-Utah and Auburn-Penn State.

Conference schedules are set years in advance. Programs have more control over their nonconference schedules, so it is interesting to see which ones aren’t afraid to schedule strong opponents.

The college football season has officially begun.

Kyle Trask leads way as No. 8 Florida takes lead of SEC East with defeat of No. 5 Georgia

Georgia landed the first couple of punches. Florida, though, landed almost all the ones after that and took control of the SEC East.

Georgia landed the first couple of punches. No. 8 Florida, though, landed almost all the ones after that and took control of the SEC East with a 44-28 defeat of the No. 5 Bulldogs on Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida.

Gators quarterback Kyle Trask had a record-setting day in the win. The senior threw for 474 yards and four touchdowns. The yards were the most by a Florida player against Georgia. Trask has at least four touchdown passes in his first five games of the season, an SEC record.

He consistently found receivers open against the Bulldogs, who also allowed Alabama quarterback Mac Jones to throw for more than 400 yards in their only other loss of the season.

The victory moves Florida one game ahead of Georgia in the division. The Gators don’t face another ranked team in their last five games, and would have would have lose twice to miss the SEC championship game.

The game started off looking like it would be all Bulldogs.

Gators now in the driver’s seat: Five takeaways from the win over UGA

Zamir White scored on a 75-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage. Florida quickly punted. Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett then hit Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint for a 32-yard touchdown to make the score 14-0. Rosemy-Jacksaint was carted off the field with leg injury on the play.

That’s when Trask went to work. He led two quick scoring drives to even the score by the end of the first quarter.

Trask’s lone misstep came when his interception by Eric Stokes was returned for a touchdown. He responded by throwing for three more scores before halftime, ending the half 20-of-26 for 341 yards and four touchdowns and the Gators ahead 38-21.

Georgia’s defense played better in the second half. The offense, however, couldn’t generate any consistent success. Bennett was benched in the third quarter after an interception. D’Wan Mathis came off the bench to lead one touchdown drive, but couldn’t get the Bulldogs any closer.
