New MSU football commit Chase Carter is already helping the Spartans recruit football and basketball prospects

Michigan State added a new commit, the 15th of the 2022 class, on Tuesday night when Minneapolis, Minnesota defensive end Chase Carter pledged to the Spartans.

Carter brings a wealth of good qualities to the Michigan State football program, and his personality certainly ranks up near the top.

The Spartans won a pivotal recruiting battle against the Iowa Hawkeyes, and now they look to close the deal on a couple of other top targets.

Carter is certainly doing his part, for both the football and basketball programs, trying to bring more top talent to East Lansing with him:

Michigan State target and three-star offensive tackle Ryan Baer of Eastlake, Ohio will be announcing his commitment this month, according to a tweet from him.

Baer revealed on Friday that while he has not officially committed to any program, he plans to announce a commitment at some point in July. Baer is ranked as the No. 38 offensive tackle and No. 365 overall prospect in the 2022 class by 247Sports.

Baer visited Michigan State last month, and has recently narrowed the list of schools he’s considering to five: Michigan State, Kentucky, Illinois, Pitt and Virginia.

The Spartans are considered the favorites to land Baer based on 247Sports crystal ball predictions. A trio of recruiting insiders submitted crystal ball predictions for Baer in favor of the Spartans earlier this week so it appears Michigan State could be adding a big-time recruit to their class later this month.

Ryan Baer would be a huge recruit for the Michigan State coaching staff to land. Not only because Baer is bigger than a bear at 6’8″ and 330 pounds, but he is a 4-star offensive tackle as well.

Baer is fresh off of his Michigan State official visit, one he uniquely took starting on Monday and concluding Wednesday afternoon. Per his Twitter page, Baer seems to have enjoyed his time in East Lansing.

Not only did Baer enjoy East Lansing enough to rave about it on social media, he is now canceling his official visit to Notre Dame that was planned for this upcoming weekend.

The Spartans could be closing in on a big-time recruit. They are in competition with Illinois, Kentucky, and Virginia, all whom he has now visited. It appears to be coming down to MSU or Kentucky though.

Baer is a native of Eastlake, Ohio just outside of Cleveland.
