Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes credits his ‘Dad Bod’ for touchdown scramble vs. 49ers

Kansas City #Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes credits his ‘Dad Bod’ for touchdown scramble vs. San Francisco 49ers | @EdEastonJr

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes told reporters about his ‘Truck-stick’ touchdown run during Sunday’s postgame press conference after victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

“I actually lowered my shoulder to absorb the hit, right there in the end zone, and that ‘Dad Bod’ man just had enough weight on me where he went down,” said Mahomes. “So it wasn’t like I was initially trying to seek out contact. I was trying to absorb it and get in the end zone.”

Mahomes scrambled between his offensive linemen and lowered his shoulder to bowl over 49ers defensive back Malik Mustapha to extend the Chiefs lead in the second half. The reigning Super Bowl MVP reflected on the last time he lowered his shoulder for contact in a football game.

“The last time I lowered my shoulder was against Iowa State, and I had an AC sprain,” said Mahomes. Iowa State beat me by 55-56 points, so I stayed away from that.”

When asked if he’d attempt that move again, Mahomes kept the door open, just not for the regular season.

“I was going to try just to get the first down, and I haven’t seen the play, but the dude either overran it, or I got a little bit of a block there. So once I got to the side, it opened up, and I was able to get down there,” said Mahomes. “I thought about cutting it back, but I’ll save that playoffs. Right now, (I’ll) continue to run out of bounds.”

The ‘Dad Bod’ is officially a weapon for Mahomes as the Chiefs remain undefeated and head into Week 8 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

WATCH: Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon rushes for TD vs. Bills

#Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon got Kansas City on the board against the #Bills in Week 14.

The Kansas City Chiefs scored their first points against the Buffalo Bills when running back Jerick McKinnon rushed for a touchdown late in the second quarter of the highly anticipated Week 14 matchup.

After a frustrating start for their offense, Kansas City was finally able to get into scoring position after rookie defensive back Chamarri Conner intercepted Josh Allen. Patrick Mahomes methodically marched the Chiefs downfield to get near the goal line and handed the ball off to Jerick McKinnon who punched it in for six points.

While this play got Kansas City on the board, there remains plenty of work for the Chiefs to do if they intend to win this game at the end of regulation. Buffalo will receive the kickoff to start the second half, so a strong showing in the third and fourth quarters will be necessary for Kansas City to complete an improbable comeback at Arrowhead Stadium.

Watch: wide receiver Ben Skowronek scores go-ahead touchdown vs. Panthers

Multitalented #Rams receiver Ben Skowronek scored a long go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter against the #Panthers

Ben Skowronek, who has been one of the Los Angeles Rams’ most impressive offensive assets this season, made his presence felt against the Carolina Panthers, scoring a long rushing touchdown in Week 6. He gave the Rams a six-point lead, which was extended to seven with a Matt Gay extra point.

Take a look at this exciting run, and notice how the blocking got him free to score from 17 yards out:

This must-win game has seen momentum swing in favor of both sides and is far from a sure thing at this juncture. They are nursing the seven-point lead they were spotted by Skowronek, and will need to continue utilizing their creativity on offense to build on their advantage.

Skowronek is a second-year pro who was selected in the seventh round by the Rams in the 2021 draft. He has been used as a fullback this year, in an unconventional move by Sean McVay to get more playmakers on the field. In recent weeks, the team has relied on him in a more conventional role but has shown the same resolve to get him involved offensively.

WATCH: C.J. Beathard muscles his way into end zone for Jaguars’ first touchdown vs. Steelers

C.J. Beathard made an incredible effort on this play, and may have delivered the #Jaguars their first win of the new season against the #Steelers

It’s been smooth sailing in east Florida for the Jacksonville Jaguars as they look to get their first preseason win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After a tight first half, the team kept their foot on the gas in the third and fourth quarters, eventually forcing a safety and scoring their first touchdown of the day on a slick scramble by veteran quarterback C.J. Beathard.

Watch the scoring play for yourself here, with attention to the brawn required for Beathard to muscle his way into the end zone with the final push to the goal line:

The touchdown put Jacksonville up by eight points in the fourth quarter, extending the lead they established when they forced Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph to take a safety on an intentional grounding penalty earlier in the second half. They’re in the driver’s seat of this game, and if the defense can continue to hold their line against Pittsburgh’s backups, it could give the Jaguars their first (unofficial) win of the 2022 campaign.

Beathard’s scramble-and-score isn’t enough to crown his team by any means, but it is a reason for celebration in a game where scoring has been a premium. The Jaguars are punching above their weight against a Steelers squad that is likely to be a playoff contender if their quarterback situation plays out favorably in the regular season.

Jacksonville fans are ready for any good news they can get about their team’s hopes this season, and the gritty effort by Beathard is sure to get the blood flowing for the Duval County faithful.

Lamar Jackson hit playoff rushing milestone vs. Titans

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson becomes second QB to rush for 100-yards and a rush touchdown in a playoff game.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is known for breaking records and creating ones of his own in the NFL and has the resume to prove it. On Sunday he not only won his first playoff game, Jackson hit a rushing milestone that only goes to prove how electric he is on the field.

Jackson became the second quarterback to rush for at least 100 yards and have a rushing touchdown in a playoff game in the Super Bowl era, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. With 136 rushing yards against the Tennessee Titans, Jackson joins former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick as the only two quarterbacks to do so.

Jackson also produced the second-longest touchdown run by a quarterback in the playoffs. Jackson found the end zone on a 48-yard highlight-reel touchdown run before halftime to tie the game and ultimately give the Ravens momentum when they desperately needed it. Jackson trails behind Kaepernick who rushed for a 56-yard touchdown against the Green Bay Packers in the 2013 NFC divisional round of the playoffs.

WATCH: Brown pick leads to 2nd Tony Pollard TD; Cowboys go up by 10

Pollard, the second-year product out of Memphis, scored his second touchdown on the afternoon on a 40-yard sprint.

Cornerback Anthony Brown has missed the Cowboys’ previous three games with a rib injury. He looks to have helped seal the win in his return to action with his first interception of the season. Running back Tony Pollard, making his first start in place of the inactive Ezekiel Elliott, applied the presumable dagger with a 40-yard touchdown run just moments later.

Brown made his play on a second-down pick of a Nick Mullens pass just as San Francisco appeared set to cross midfield down by three points.

Pollard, the second-year product out of Memphis, scored his second touchdown on the afternoon on a 40-yard sprint on which he broke a four-way tackle by the 49ers defense.

WATCH: Najee Harris turns on the jets for 39-yard TD

Najee Harris scores a nation-leading 17th rushing touchdown to build on Alabama’s lead over Auburn to make the score 35-6 with time left …

Alabama continues to roll over Auburn in the 2020 Iron Bowl as Najee Harris scores on a 39-yard run to extend the Crimson Tide’s lead over the Tigers, 35-6.

The Auburn defense has not been able to stop, let alone slow down, the Alabama offense.

Whether it’s the heat of the rivalry driving the team forward, or having offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian at the helm today with Nick Saban out, either way, this team is proving they deserve to be No. 1 in the nation.

Harris had a beautiful cut to get through Auburn’s defensive front, then there was nothing but open field between him and the end zone. This is touchdown No. 17 for Harris, who leads the nation.

With plenty of time remaining in the third quarter, who know what may happen before the end of the game.

You can watch Harris’ run below:
