Steelers WR Roman Wilson attends NFLPA Rookie Premiere

Roman Wilson has a chance to be a special player for the Steelers.

This weekend in Los Angeles, the NFLPA hosted the Rookie Premiere and Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson was one of the rookies in attendance.

The Rookie Premiere is intended to be an opportunity for a group of top rookies who the NFL considers highly marketable and gives them a jumpstart into those other revenue streams available to NFL players.

Here is what the Premiere is about from the NFLPA site:

NFLPA Rookie Premiere offers its partners a unique opportunity to connect with influential young athletes, showcasing their products alongside emerging stars and leveraging group player rights. This event serves as a vital platform, showcasing the rookies’ potential, fostering connections with companies using the power and influence of player marketing and talent to drive both a positive player brand presence as well as business success. Among the 40 rookies expected to participate are Bo Nix, Brock Bowers, Michael Penix Jr., Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze, Laiatu Latu, J.J. McCarthy, Drake Maye, Malik Nabers, Ricky Pearsall, and Jayden Daniels. For a complete roster, click here.

Throughout the event, prominent NFLPA business partners, including Panini America, Fanatics, EA Sports, and Fanatics Collectibles will engage with the rookies to create content for upcoming campaigns, marketing activations, and player promoted products. Additionally, other partners such as Sleep Number, Lowe’s, EXOS, FedEx, Jewelmark, New Era, Outerstuff and WHOOP will provide players with gifting, products, and/or services.

Wilson was the first of the Steelers two third-round picks in the 2024 NFL draft. Wilson established himself as a playmaker this past season as a member of the Wolverines. The Steelers hope Wilson adds a spark to the passing game with Diontae Johnson off to the Carolina Panthers.

WR Quentin Johnston makes first appearance in full Chargers uniform

Check out the Los Angeles Chargers’ first-round pick in full uniform.

Last Saturday, May 20, the NFLPA held its Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles, CA. The event provided football fans with their first look at some of the 2023 NFL draft’s popular prospects in the uniforms of their new teams.

For the Chargers, their first-round pick wide receiver Quentin Johnston represented the team at the event.

Check him out below, donning the infamous powder blue jersey with his number 1 and the gold pants.

A big-bodied wideout, Johnston should provide a spark to Los Angeles’ offense early in the 2023 season as he is a deep threat with the speed to stretch the field and can outpace defenders in the open field with great explosiveness, wiggle and strength.

Johnston needs to refine his route running and clean up some drop issues, but having the mentorship of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Josh Palmer should aid that.

Broncos WR Marvin Mims invited to 2023 NFLPA Rookie Premiere

Broncos WR Marvin Mims has been invited to attend the 2023 NFLPA Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims has been invited to the 2023 NFLPA Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Mims is one of 45 rookies invited and the only Broncos player on the list.

The event will be held from May 18-21, after rookie minicamp (May 12-14) and just before the start of organized team activities (May 23-25), so Mims should be able to attend.

The rookie premiere “provides partners with unmatched access to 40 of the NFL’s newest stars at their first major business and marketing event following the NFL draft,” according to the NFLPA’s website.

“This is one of the most valuable opportunities available to NFLPA partners because it’s the first time to connect directly with professional football’s most promising and marketable young players — all in one place — and build content and relationships that extend into the season and beyond.”

Mims was picked by the Broncos in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft after totaling 2,433 yards from scrimmage and scoring 20 touchdowns in three seasons at Oklahoma.

Saints draft picks Kendre Miller, Jake Haener invited to NFLPA Rookie Premiere

New Orleans Saints draft picks Kendre Miller and Jake Haener have been invited to represent the team at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere:

This is a cool opportunity for a couple of the New Orleans Saints’ first-year players. The NFL Players Associated invited Kendre Miller and Jake Haener to its exclusive Rookie Premiere event in Los Angeles, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, where they’ll be highlighted for future business and marketing ventures.

The NFLPA describes the event as, “This is one of the most valuable opportunities available to NFLPA partners because it’s the first time to connect directly with professional football’s most promising and marketable young players–all in one place—and build content and relationships that extend into the season and beyond.”

Miller, the former TCU running back selected at No. 71 overall, is in a great position to make a name for himself as a pro with Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams joining him on the Saints depth chart. New Orleans traded up to the No. 127 picks for Haener, a quarterback out of Fresno State, envisioning him as a long-term backup for Derek Carr given Jameis Winston’s contract status.

Both young players could be in the spotlight for the Saints in the not-so-distant future so it’s a good idea for them to get out in front of any opportunities ahead of them. The NFLPA Rookie Premiere will be held May 18-21.

Jaguars’ Tank Bigsby to attend NFLPA Rookie Premiere

The Jaguars’ Tank Bigsby is one of 45 draftees set to participate in the NFLPA Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles.

Jacksonville Jaguars third-round pick Tank Bigsby is one of 45 draftees set to attend the NFL Players Association’s annual Rookie Premiere event in Los Angeles.

The event — which is set to happen May 18-21 — almost exclusively features rookies at skill positions. Top 10 picks Jalen Carter, Tyree Wilson, and Will Anderson Jr. are the only players set to attend the event who don’t play quarterback, running back, wide receiver, or tight end.

The rookie premiere is a marketing event that connects rookies with brands to kick start the endorsement side of their professional sports career. A highlight of the event is that players in attendance are typically the first to wear their new team’s full uniform for photo shoots.

Bigsby was drafted with the No. 88 overall pick by the Jaguars and is set to compete for touches in a crowded backfield that also features Travis Etienne Jr., D’Ernest Johnson, and JaMycal Hasty.

During his time as a member of the Auburn Tigers, Bigsby earned SEC Freshman of the Year honors in 2020 and finished his collegiate career with 3,351 total yards from scrimmage and 25 touchdowns.

David Bell represents Browns at NFLPA’s ‘Rookie Premiere’

Bell got a chance to connect with companies and brands as a part of the NFLPA event:

The Cleveland Browns have a unique rookie class coming out of the 2022 NFL draft and undrafted free agency. Their top pick didn’t come until the third round, they took a kicker in the fourth and an undrafted free agent has the physical traits that normally get a player drafted quite high.

For WR David Bell, the team’s third third-round pick, pressure could be very high. While the team would never describe him in this way, fans and media are assuming that Bell will replace veteran Jarvis Landry as the team’s slot receiver.

The Purdue standout shows qualities that could make him a very good receiver in the NFL but his testing data was quite poor at the NFL combine.

Bell represented the Browns at the NFLPA’s ‘Rookie Premiere’ as shown in this photo:

According to the NFLPA’s website, the event is set up to connect rookies with companies for marketing purposes:

NFLPA Rookie Premiere provides partners with unmatched access to 40 of the NFL’s newest stars at their first major business and marketing event following the NFL Draft. This is one of the most valuable opportunities available to NFLPA partners because it’s the first time to connect directly with professional football’s most promising and marketable young players–all in one place—and build content and relationships that extend into the season and beyond.

Given the schedule for the event, it is unlikely that Bell was able to join Deshaun Watson’s team bonding event in the Bahamas. The premiere opened on Wednesday and ended Saturday. The above picture was taken Saturday. It is likely that Bell committed to the event prior to Watson’s invitation.

NFLPA Rookie Premiere provides first look at Packers rookies Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs

Packers rookie WRs Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs were both invited to the NFLPA Rookie Premiere. Here’s a first look at the two in their full Packers uniform.

The NFL Players Association Rookie Premiere provided a first-time look at Green Bay Packers rookie wide receivers Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs in their full green-and-gold uniforms.

The NFLPA’s official Twitter account posted a photo of the entire 42-player group, with Watson and Doubs featured prominently in the front center.

The NFLPA describes the annual event as the “first major business and marketing event following the NFL Draft” and “one of the most valuable opportunities available to NFLPA partners.”

“It’s the first time to connect directly with professional football’s most promising and marketable young players–all in one place—and build content and relationships that extend into the season and beyond.”

Previous Packers draft picks such as Amari Rodgers, Jordan Love, A.J. Dillon, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Jamaal Williams attended the event.

Watson posted this photo on Instagram of the personalized lockers for him and Doubs:

Watson was the Packers’ second-round pick and the team’s highest draft pick at wide receiver since 2002. Doubs was the Packers’ first of two fourth-round picks.

Chiefs WR Skyy Moore named to NFLPA’s Rookie Premiere Class of 2022

#Chiefs WR Skyy Moore is one of the 42 rookies selected for the NFLPA’s Rookie Premiere Class of 2022.

The NFLPA has announced its Rookie Premiere Class of 2022 and one player from the Kansas City Chiefs has been named a member of the latest class.

The team’s second-round draft pick, Skyy Moore, was the lone Chiefs player selected among the 42 new rookie premiere members. He follows Cornell Powell (2021), Clyde Edwards-Helaire (2020) and Mecole Hardman (2019), who were all previous selections by the NFLPA.

This event serves as a jumping-off point for rookies to learn about marketing, endorsements and managing their brands. The players selected for the Rookie Premiere Class of 2022 will get an opportunity to work together with a number of NFL brand partners, including Fanatics and Panini America. Fanatics will host a jersey reveal, while Panini America will collaborate with rookies on a trading card photo shoot in official team uniforms.

According to the NFLPA, players are chosen based on things like position, draft status, college performance and projected marketability. Generally speaking, offensive players tend to get preference here, which is why you won’t find either Trent McDuffie or George Karlaftis attending. In fact, only four of the 42 players selected this year play defense. Moore’s selection shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given that he’s a receiver in the Chiefs’ offense with the team trading away star WR Tyreek Hill this offseason.

Along with Panini America and Fanatics, Moore and other rookies will get a chance to work with Dapper Labs, EA Sports, and StatusPro.

LOOK: Chargers’ Justin Herbert, Joshua Kelley’s 2020 NFLPA rookie card revealed

Here is a glimpse of what Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and running back Joshua Kelley will look like supporting the new uniforms.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual NFLPA Rookie Premiere was cancelled. However, one of their partners made sure to reveal what a handful of rookies will look like with their new teams.

Panini America, which is the exclusive trading card licensee of the NFL and NFLPA, unveiled 42 rookies in their new threads that they will be wearing this upcoming season.

Among the crop of first-year players named to the 2020 Rookie Premiere Class was Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and running back Joshua Kelley.

The card art for both players can be found below:

Typically, the event offers first-year players their first major business and marketing event following. It’s the first time for many companies to connect directly with the rookies all in one place and build relationships.

What do you all think? I think Herbert and Kelley look solid, especially in the team’s new uniforms that will be worn starting in 2020.
