SIGNED: 4-star tight end Roger Saleapaga is officially a Duck

The Oregon Ducks officially signed 4-star tight end Roger Saleapaga, adding him to the 2024 class.

One of the most recent members of the Oregon Ducks 2024 recruiting class made it official on Wednesday, with 4-star tight end Roger Saleapaga signing his national letter of intent on Wednesday.

Saleapaga, a blue-chip prospect out of Orem, Utah, committed to the Ducks on December 1st, right before the Ducks kicked off in the Pac-12 Championship Game against the Washington Huskies.

Saleapaga is rated by the 247 Sports Composite as the No. 440 overall player and the No. 27 TE in the nation. At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Saleapaga gives the Ducks a big-bodied receiving tight end that can provide a mismatch in the passing game.

Saleapaga chose the Ducks over schools like Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, and Utah.

At the moment, the Ducks have a solid outlook for the TE position in 2024, assuming that Terrance Ferguson returns for another year, which is still in question. Should Ferguson declare for the NFL Draft, though, then there is a chance that Saleapaga could play his way into the rotation in a minor role, much like we saw from true freshman Kenyon Sadiq in 2023.

Here are some of Saleapaga’s highlights:

Auburn TE target Roger Saleapaga commits to Oregon

Auburn is still looking for a tight end to add to its 2024 recruiting class.

Auburn will have to keep looking for a pass-catching tight end after [autotag]Roger Saleapaga[/autotag] committed to the Oregon Ducks Friday night.

The Orem, Utah, product has been one of [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag]’s top targets in the 2024 recruiting cycle after the Tigers’ offered him a scholarship back in May. Saleapaga made the cross-country trek to the Plains twice, once for the Samford game and again for the Iron Bowl on an official visit.

He is the No. 440 overall player and No. 25 tight end in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 4 player from Utah

Auburn currently has one tight end committed in three-star [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] but he is not expected to end up in Auburn’s class.

The Tigers have been linked to Amir Jackson (Florida), Kylan Fox (UCF) and Micahel Smith (South Carolina) in the past but they all appear to be solidly committed to their schools and tough to flip.

Auburn did get good news at the tight end position this week when [autotag]Luke Deal[/autotag] announced he would return for a sixth season next year.

Saleapaga is rated as the No. 25 TE and No. 440 overall player in the 2024 class. He is the second tight end to commit to Oregon in this class, joining North Medford’s A.J. Pugliano.

As it stands now, the Ducks have the No. 7 recruiting class in the nation with signing day just a few weeks away, and several prospects still yet to announce their commitment that the Ducks are targeting.

4-star TE Roger Saleapaga ‘really looking’ at Auburn with commitment date approaching

He is set to announce his commitment on Friday.

Four-star tight end [autotag]Roger Saleapaga[/autotag] made his second trip to Auburn this season to watch the Iron Bowl and it’s safe to say it made an impact on the Orem, Utah product.

Despite having included Auburn among his top schools, Saleapaga admitted to On3’s Cole Pinkston that he “wasn’t too sure about Auburn,” but that is no longer the case.

“After this week, Auburn is really high on my board,” Saleapaga said. “I’m not going to lie, going into the trip I wasn’t too sure about Auburn. Now it’s a school I’m really looking at right now. I’m grateful I had the opportunity to spend the time with the coaches and the fanbase. I’m really excited about Auburn.”

The visit comes at a great time for the Tigers, as Saleapaga is set to commit on Friday at 7 p.m. CT and will be deciding between Auburn, Alabama, Oregon, Utah and Tennessee.

He is the No. 430 overall player and No. 26 tight end in the On3 industry ranking. He is also the No. 2 player from Utah.

Auburn and [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag] are looking for a pass-catching tight end to add to the 2024 class and Saleapaga would be a great fit but it will be tough to beat out Oregon.

Auburn TE target Roger Saleapaga explains why Auburn is one of his top schools

Auburn is battling Utah, Colorado, Oregon and Tennessee for him.

Auburn is looking to land a second tight end to pair with [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] and [autotag]Roger Saleapaga[/autotag] is one of their top targets. The feeling is mutual as Auburn is one of the final five programs for the three-star prospect.

Saleapaga is set to take official visits to Utah (Oct. 28), Colorado (Nov. 4), Oregon (Nov. 11), Tennessee (Nov. 18) and Auburn (Nov. 25) over the next five weeks before announcing his commitment.

He recently spoke with On3’s Chad Simmons to discuss his recruitment and what stands out about each of his finalists. He revealed that he is considering committing on Dec. 1 but that could change depending on how his visits go.

When discussing his finalist, the Orem, Utah native shared that it is the people and atmosphere around Auburn that have made them stand out.

“It is the people at Auburn. I was there for the Samford game and it was great. The people are friendly all over campus. The team has great support and it gives me that comfortable feeling. Since [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] got there, they have been recruiting me and I just like the feeling at Auburn.”

The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder has had a great senior season so far, catching 41 passes for 624 yards and five touchdowns for Orem High School.

Auburn TE target trending to Pac-12 program

Auburn has some ground to make up in its pursuit of Roger Saleapaga.

Auburn has already landed one tight end in the 2024 cycle in [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] but he is more of a blocking tight end and Auburn is looking to pair him with a true receiving threat.

Their top target has been four-star prospect [autotag]Roger Saleapaga[/autotag], one of the top uncommitted tight ends in the country. Auburn is battling Oregon for the Orem, Utah native and several recruiting experts believe the Ducks have taken a lead.

Steve Wiltfong and Blair Angulo of 247Sports have both cast crystal balls predicting him to Oregon.

Saleapaga is the No. 432 overall player and No. 26 tight end in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 4 player from Utah.

Auburn will have a chance to make up the ground as he is set to take an official visit to the Plains to check out the Iron Bowl on Nov. 24. He also has official visits set to Utah (Oct. 28), Colorado (Nov. 4), Oregon (Nov. 11) and Tennessee (Nov. 18) so his recruitment is far from over.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder has had a great senior season so far, catching 35 passes for 571 yards and four touchdowns in seven games.

Sooners offer 4-Star TE Roger Saleapaga out of Utah

A look at recent Oklahoma Sooners offer, 2024 4-star tight end Roger Saleapaga.

Last week on the recruiting trail, the Oklahoma Sooners turned their attention to 2024 four-star tight end Roger Saleapaga out of Orem, Utah. Saleapaga is a top-five tight end in the class and is 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds.

He holds offers from 14 Power Five programs, including Utah, BYU, Tennessee, Oregon, UCLA, and Washington.

Saleapaga is an incredible athlete with good long speed. His size and athleticism make him incredibly difficult to cover. He does a good job in contested catch situations, climbing the ladder to high point the football. He’s got really good hands and is able to come down with the catch even when the defender is right there in coverage. He moves really well laterally for a player his size, displaying good agility to make plays after the catch.

The Utah prospect is being heavily recruited by a number of Pac-12 teams but is beginning to generate some buzz east of the Rockies. Miami also offered the talented tight end prospect in the last week.
