Ranking every SEC recruiting class after the early signing period

Auburn has the No. 7 class after the first day of the early signing period, here is how their class compares to the rest of the SEC.

It was another successful start to the early signing period for [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and the Auburn Tigers.

They pulled off their fifth flip of the 2024 recruiting cycle: four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Amaris Williams[/autotag], who flipped his commitment from Florida.

They lost three-star tight end [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag], but the two sides have been headed in opposite directions for quite some time and his departure was expected. They signed 22 players, and [autotag]Dimitry Nicolas[/autotag] was the only commit not to sign.

The moves give Auburn the No. 7 class in the 247Sports team composite. It is the first time it has cracked the top 10 since 2020 when [autotag]Gus Malzahn[/autotag] inked the No. 7 overall class.

However, the SEC is the best conference in the sport for a reason, and it starts with their recruiting. Here is a look at how Auburn’s class compares to the rest of the conference.

Auburn TE target Roger Saleapaga commits to Oregon

Auburn is still looking for a tight end to add to its 2024 recruiting class.

Auburn will have to keep looking for a pass-catching tight end after [autotag]Roger Saleapaga[/autotag] committed to the Oregon Ducks Friday night.

The Orem, Utah, product has been one of [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag]’s top targets in the 2024 recruiting cycle after the Tigers’ offered him a scholarship back in May. Saleapaga made the cross-country trek to the Plains twice, once for the Samford game and again for the Iron Bowl on an official visit.

He is the No. 440 overall player and No. 25 tight end in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 4 player from Utah

Auburn currently has one tight end committed in three-star [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] but he is not expected to end up in Auburn’s class.

The Tigers have been linked to Amir Jackson (Florida), Kylan Fox (UCF) and Micahel Smith (South Carolina) in the past but they all appear to be solidly committed to their schools and tough to flip.

Auburn did get good news at the tight end position this week when [autotag]Luke Deal[/autotag] announced he would return for a sixth season next year.

Auburn TE target Roger Saleapaga explains why Auburn is one of his top schools

Auburn is battling Utah, Colorado, Oregon and Tennessee for him.

Auburn is looking to land a second tight end to pair with [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] and [autotag]Roger Saleapaga[/autotag] is one of their top targets. The feeling is mutual as Auburn is one of the final five programs for the three-star prospect.

Saleapaga is set to take official visits to Utah (Oct. 28), Colorado (Nov. 4), Oregon (Nov. 11), Tennessee (Nov. 18) and Auburn (Nov. 25) over the next five weeks before announcing his commitment.

He recently spoke with On3’s Chad Simmons to discuss his recruitment and what stands out about each of his finalists. He revealed that he is considering committing on Dec. 1 but that could change depending on how his visits go.

When discussing his finalist, the Orem, Utah native shared that it is the people and atmosphere around Auburn that have made them stand out.

“It is the people at Auburn. I was there for the Samford game and it was great. The people are friendly all over campus. The team has great support and it gives me that comfortable feeling. Since [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] got there, they have been recruiting me and I just like the feeling at Auburn.”

The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder has had a great senior season so far, catching 41 passes for 624 yards and five touchdowns for Orem High School.

Auburn TE target trending to Pac-12 program

Auburn has some ground to make up in its pursuit of Roger Saleapaga.

Auburn has already landed one tight end in the 2024 cycle in [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] but he is more of a blocking tight end and Auburn is looking to pair him with a true receiving threat.

Their top target has been four-star prospect [autotag]Roger Saleapaga[/autotag], one of the top uncommitted tight ends in the country. Auburn is battling Oregon for the Orem, Utah native and several recruiting experts believe the Ducks have taken a lead.

Steve Wiltfong and Blair Angulo of 247Sports have both cast crystal balls predicting him to Oregon.

Saleapaga is the No. 432 overall player and No. 26 tight end in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 4 player from Utah.

Auburn will have a chance to make up the ground as he is set to take an official visit to the Plains to check out the Iron Bowl on Nov. 24. He also has official visits set to Utah (Oct. 28), Colorado (Nov. 4), Oregon (Nov. 11) and Tennessee (Nov. 18) so his recruitment is far from over.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder has had a great senior season so far, catching 35 passes for 571 yards and four touchdowns in seven games.

Auburn is ‘making a push’ for UCF TE commit Kylan Fox

Auburn is looking to flip another blue-ship recruit and this time its from a former head coach.

Auburn already has one tight end commit in [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] but the Tigers have been looking for a second to pair with him and they may have found their guy.

[autotag]Kylan Fox[/autotag] is a four-star prospect and despite committing to [autotag]Gus Malzahn[/autotag] and UCF back in July, other programs never stopped recruiting him and it’s now Auburn’s turn.

According to On3’s Chad Simmons, the Tigers are “making a push for Fox” and “UCF is still the team to beat, but things are heating up with Auburn.”

While it is always hard to flip a player, [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and his staff have shown a knack for it and they will have several chances to make their pitch to the 6-foot-5, 202-pounder. He is set to officially visit the Plains on Oct. 21 to watch Auburn play Ole Miss and will officially visit for the Iron Bowl on Nov. 25, per Simmons.

Fox is the No. 359 overall player and No. 22 tight end in the On3 industry ranking. The Loganville product is also the No. 39 player from Georgia.

Tracking the Tigers: Several Auburn commits shine in Week 3

Jalewis Solomon, Walker White and Joseph Phillips all had great games.

Auburn has one of the top recruiting classes in the country and their commits continue to perform like it.

Several of Auburn’s commits had massive performances in Week 3, including quarterback pledge [autotag]Walker White[/autotag] who bounced back from a disappointing Week 2 in dominant fashion. His team didn’t pick up the win, but [autotag]Joseph Phillips[/autotag] continued his sensational senior season.

While they had big games, the top performer from last week’s action is [autotag]Jalewis Solomon[/autotag]. He scored touchdowns on both sides of the ball and continued to show why Auburn’s staff worked so hard to land him.

Stats have not yet been released for [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag], [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag], [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] and [autotag]D’Angelo Barber[/autotag] but here is a look at how the rest of Auburn’s commits performed last week.

SEC recruiting rankings: June update

The 2024 recruiting cycle has been kind to the Auburn Tigers thus far. How are they doing compared to the rest of the SEC?

The month of June has been a busy one in the world of recruiting, especially for the Auburn Tigers.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and staff have welcomed a myriad of popular recruits to visit campus, and have been fortunate enough to earn three commitments at this point in the month.

The month started with the Tigers earning two commitments on the same day. Auburn beat out Ole Miss in the pursuit of three-star wide receiver [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] on June 13. Later that day, four-star safety [autotag]Kensley Faustin[/autotag] announced that he would also be committing to Auburn.

The third commitment of the month was the most notable. [autotag]Joseph Phillips[/autotag], a four-star linebacker from nearby Tuskegee, chose Auburn over Georgia. Phillips is now Auburn’s second-highest-ranked commit for the 2024 cycle, and his commitment is declared a monster win for Freeze on the recruiting trail.

In other refreshing news, three 2024 commits announced that they would be “shutting down” their recruitment. Joining four-star quarterback [autotag]Walker White[/autotag] by doing this trend are tight end [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag], running back [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag], and defensive back [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag].

As the month of June begins its final lap, here’s a look at how Auburn stacks up in recruiting with the rest of the SEC according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Auburn offers 3-star tight end Gavin Hoffman

Auburn is looking to add a second tight end in its 2024 recruiting class.

The Auburn Tigers already have one tight end committed in [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] but they are looking for a second one to pair with him. A new target has emerged as they offered [autotag]Gavin Hoffman[/autotag] Wednesday morning.

The three-star prospect is from Overland Park, Kansas, and has over 15 offers including Tennessee, Iowa, Arizona State and Arkansas.

Auburn is certainly entering the race late as the 6-foot-5, 220-pounder recently told Chris Karpman of 247Sports that he was down to Iowa, Missouri and Arizona State and will likely be committing in “like two or three weeks.”

Hoffman is the No. 965 overall player and No. 41 tight end in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 7 player from Kansas.

He is coming off a strong junior season for Blue Valley Northwest where he caught 39 passes for 713 yards and 11 touchdowns.

J’Marion Burnette becomes latest Auburn commit to ‘shut down’ recruitment

This is a trend that everyone can get behind.

This is a trend that we could all get used to.

[autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag], a four-star running back from Andalusia, became Auburn’s fourth commit of the 2024 class when he pledged to Auburn in March. On Thursday, he shared he would shut down his recruitment and focus solely on Auburn until the early signing period in December.

He becomes the latest 2024 commit to make such a decision. Four-star QB [autotag]Walker White[/autotag] kicked off the trend and has basically served as an extra recruiter for Auburn since committing to the program in February. Three-star tight end [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] announced earlier this week that he would shut down his recruitment. Four-star DB [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] followed suit by doing the same on Tuesday.

As [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] works to rebuild the program, it can not be stressed how important it is for him to hold on to his best recruits. If Burnette and fellow pledges continue to persuade others to follow the trend, the days of waiting until signing day to get excited over a top recruit will soon end.

Elite TE Caleb Odom to take official visit to Auburn

The Tigers are fighting to get back in the race for one of the best tight ends in the country.

Auburn’s recruitment of four-star tight end [autotag]Caleb Odom[/autotag] has been an up-and-down affair.

Odom visited in March and despite speaking positively of his trip, he didn’t include the Tigers in his top 12 schools. He then trimmed that list to seven schools on May 12 and the Tigers once again missed the cut.

However, things have taken a turn for the positive after he visited in May. The Carrollton, Georgia product told Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover that Auburn is “re-emerging now.”

Odom has now scheduled an official visit to the Plains on June 12-14, according to Clemente.

Odom is the No. 85 overall player and No. 6 tight end in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 13 player from Georgia.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder is coming off a great season for Carrollton High School, where he caught 64 passes for 1,121 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Tight end coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag] has already landed tight end [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] but the Tigers are expected to try and land two tight ends in the 2024 recruiting cycle.
