Giants’ Rodarius Williams unhappy with role, Tae Crowder tweets, ‘free me’

New York Giants LB Tae Crowder and CB Rodarius Williams appear to be frustrated with their roles and are expressing it publicly.

The New York Giants started the season 6-1 and everyone was loving life. Even wide receiver Kenny Golladay, who expressed frustration with his playing time early on, became a cheerleader when the team was winning.

Since then however, the Giants have gone 1-3-1 and things are no longer so rosy.

Following Sunday’s 20-20 tie against the Washington Commanders, which left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth, some cracks began to form.

Shortly after the game, linebacker Tae Crowder, who has seen a diminished role and took no defensive snaps in Week 13, tweeted, “free me.”

But Crowder wasn’t the only one who appeared frustrated.

Cornerback Rodarius Williams, who played 50 snaps against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving and came down with a big interception, also didn’t see a single snap against the Commanders. And like Crowder, he wasn’t pleased with that decision.

Winning cures all but when the winning stops, flaws become exposed and frustration floats to the top. The Giants are beginning to see a growing number of players who are unhappy over their playing time and the optimism around the team is quickly turning to pessimism.

The excitement that existed in East Rutherford just a month ago has vanished. In it’s place is a mess of errors, failures, frustration and criticism.

There are still plenty of games left on the schedule and the Giants very much remain in the playoff hunt, but things have a different feel now. Just ask Crowder and Williams.

Giants-Commanders Week 13: Offense, defense and special teams snap counts

The New York Giants tied their Week 13 game against the Commanders. Here are the snap counts on offense, defense and special teams.

The New York Giants and Washington Commanders played to a 20-20 tie in Week 13. It was a game that neither team appeared to want with each side blowing multiple game-winning opportunities.

Although better than a loss, the tie felt sour inside the Giants’ locker room. With the playoff race tightening and the toughest part of their schedule still remaining, Big Blue realizes they let one slip away.

There’s a lot to break down and a lot to go over but before we look ahead, let’s look back. Here are the snap counts that contributed to the tie.

Offensive snaps: 66
Defensive snaps: 85
Special teams snaps: 34

The 85 defensive snaps were among the most (if not the most) all season for the Giants, and three players took every single one — Julian Love, Fabian Moreau and Nick McCloud. Upon his return, Azeez Ojulari also played an impressive 58% of all defensive snaps.

Noteworthy is that linebacker Tae Crowder and cornerback Rodarius Williams took none. We’ll have more on that later.

On offense, tight end Daniel Bellinger, who was returning from a scary eye injury, played 97% of all snaps.

Stock up, down after Giants’ 28-20 loss to Cowboys

Whose stock is up and whose is down following the New York Giants’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12?

The New York Giants fell to the Dallas Cowboys, 28-20, on Thanksgiving Day after surrendering an early second half lead. The loss drops them to 7-4 on the season and 1-3 over their last four games.

Although the Giants still control their own playoff fate, confidence in the team is fading. Doubt is beginning to creep in and frustration is mounting.

Whose stock is up and whose is down after the Week 12 loss? Let’s take a look.

Giants-Lions Week 11: Offense, defense and special teams snap counts

The New York Giants lost their Week 11 game against the Detroit Lions. Here are the snap counts on offense, defense and special teams.

The New York Giants were completely overrun in Week 11, falling to the Detroit Lions by a score of 31-18 in a game that wasn’t even that close. It was their ugliest and least inspiring performance of the entire 2022 season to date.

Compounding matters? The Giants lost at least five players to injury and had several others banged up. That’s bad news on a short week that culminates in a Thanksgiving Day game against the Dallas Cowboys.

There’s a lot to break down and a lot to go over but before we look ahead, let’s look back. Here are the snap counts that contributed to the Giants’ latest loss.

Offensive snaps: 69
Defensive snaps: 64
Special teams snaps: 30

The returning Shane Lemieux was benched midway through the game and that began an offensive line rotation. Jon Feliciano and Tyre Phillips also left the game injured, which is why the offensive line snap counts appear so out of whack.

Cornerback Rodarius Williams made his return and saw more snaps than the team would have liked due to injuries as well. If you can’t tell, that was the theme of this game.

Giants fall to Lions: Winners, losers and those in between

The New York Giants fell to the Lions, 31-18, in Week 11 and here’s a look at our winners and losers (and those in between) from the game.

The New York Giants and Detroit Lions braved the 35-degree weather and 20-plus MPH winds at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

The Lions roared over the listless, sloppy Giants who now head to Dallas for a Thanksgiving Day game that should they lose, could damage their postseason hopes.

But the bad news doesn’t end there….

They’ll be short-handed come Thursday as they lost six players to injuries in this game: starting cornerbacks cornerbacksĀ Adoreeā€™ Jackson (knee) and Fabian Moreau (ribs), center Jon Feliciano (knee), offensive tackle Tyree Phillips (neck), safety Jason Pinnock (jaw) and wide receiver Wanā€™Dale Robinson (knee).

Here’s some winners, losers and in-betweens from Sunday’s loss.

Giants activate CB Rodarius Williams, sign DL Henry Mondeaux off practice squad

The New York Giants have activated CB Rodarius Williams off of IR and signed DL Henry Mondeaux to the active roster in a series of moves.

The New York Giants made a series of roster moves on Monday, which included adding several defensive reinforcements.

Cornerback Rodarius Williams, the team’s 2021 sixth-round pick, was activated off of injured reserve. He suffered a torn ACL in Week 6 of last season and opened the current season on IR. He rejoins a thin group that consists of Adoree’ Jackson, Fabian Moreau, Cor’Dale Flott and Darnay Holmes.

In addition to activating Williams, the Giants also signed defensive lineman Henry Mondeaux off of their practice squad.

Mondeaux has appeared in three games this season, all as a practice squad elevation, recording five tackles (one for a loss). He will replace Nick Williams, who landed on IR last week with a biceps injury.

In order to clear two spots on the 53-man roster, the Giants released offensive tackle Devery Hamilton and defensive back Justin Layne. Hamilton became expendable due to the recent returns of Nick Gates and Matt Peart, and the pending return of Shane Lemieux.

Finally, the Giants also terminated the practice squad contract of offensive tackle Will Holden.

Giants’ Matt Peart, Elerson Smith and Rodarius Williams return to practice

In addition to Nick Gates, the Giants saw three other players return to practice this week: Rodarius Williams, Matt Peart and Elerson Smith.

The New York Giants may be among the most-injured teams in the NFL and have a growing injury list, but they finally received some positive injury-related news on Wednesday.

In addition to offensive lineman Nick Gates (leg) being activated and returning to practice as a member of the 53-man roster, the team also started the clock on three other players.

Offensive tackle Matt Peart, outside linebacker Elerson Smith and cornerback Rodarius Williams all returned to practice. Peart started his 21-day window to return from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, while Smith and Williams were designated to return from IR.

Peart suffered a torn ACL last December in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles and was placed on the active/PUP list at the beginning of training camp.

Williams also suffered a torn ACL in Week 5 of last season, while Smith suffered a neck injury late last season and finished the year on IR. Both were placed on IR again at the start of this season.

The news wasn’t quite as positive for offensive lineman Shane Lemieux, who remains on IR with a foot injury. Head coach Brian Daboll said that although he’s improving, there’s no guarantee he returns this season.

“I donā€™t want to forecast. Heā€™s getting better,” Daboll said.

Giants place Shane Lemieux, two others on IR

The New York Giants have placed three players, including OL Shane Lemieux, on injured reserve to start the regular season.

The New York Giants will place three players on injured reserve to start the 2022 regular season: linebacker Elerson Smith, guard Shane Lemieux and cornerback Rodarius Williams.

All three will miss at least the first four games of the regular season and are designated eligible to return but head coach Brian Daboll has indicated that they could miss more time.

NFL teams have a maximum of eight player they can designate for return this year.

Lemieux, who was playing left guard with he starting unit they summer, has been out for several weeks with a foot injury. Daboll said recently that he wasn’t expecting Lemieux back “anytime soon.”

Williams missed the Giants’ preseason finale versus the Jets with a knee injury and Smith’s injury is unknown at present time.
