The 2024 WNBA draft was held on Monday at Brooklyn Academy of Music in Brooklyn, New York.

Tennessee forward Rickea Jackson was selected by Los Angeles in the first round (No. 4 overall). She is the fourth consecutive Lady Vol selected in the first round of the WNBA draft during the last four years.

The Lady Vols have produced 44 all time selections in WNBA college drafts and 46 including elite drafts.

Jackson averaged 20.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game during the 2023-24 season at Tennessee. She played for the Lady Vols from 2022-24 after transferring from Mississippi State.

Tennessee forward Rickea Jackson was selected by Los Angeles in the first round of the 2024 WNBA draft.

Jackson was the No. 4 overall selection in the draft, which was held Monday at Brooklyn Academy of Music in Brooklyn, New York.

The Sparks were 17-23 in 2023 and have missed the playoffs for the last three seasons. Los Angeles also had the No. 2 overall pick and selected Stanford’s Cameron Brink.

Jackson was recently named honorable mention by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

She also earned honorable mention All-America honors two times at Mississippi State.

Jackson was a first-team All-SEC standout and has received All-America honorable mention acclaims from USBWA and the Associated Press.

Jackson received all-conference honors from USA TODAY Sports and the league’s coaches. She was also a finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award for a second consecutive year, recognizing the nation’s top forward.

The former Lady Vol averaged 20.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game during the 2023-24 season.

Rickea Jackson earned All-America honorable mention status from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday.

Jackson received the honor for a second consecutive year. She is one of 42 players to be named honorable mention All-America by the WBCA for the 2023-24 season.

Jackson also earned honorable mention All-America honors two times at Mississippi State.

She was a first-team All-SEC standout and has received All-America honorable mention acclaim  from USBWA and the Associated Press.

Lady Vols defeat Green Bay to open NCAA Tournament.

No. 6 seed Tennessee (20-12, 10-6 SEC) defeated No. 11 Green Bay (27-7, 17-3 Horizon League), 92-63, in the NCAA Tournament first-round at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The Lady Vols led, 44-28, at halftime.

Rickea Jackson totaled 26 points and nine rebounds and was one of four Tennessee players to score 10-plus points in the contest.

Sara Puckett scored 14 points, while Jewel Spear scored 13 points, including 11 points in the second quarter. She also recorded three rebounds in the game for the Lady Vols.

Tess Darby scored 11 points, while Tamari Key finished with seven points, six rebounds and one block.

Tennessee will next play on Monday in the second-round of the NCAA Tournament.

SEC Tournament: South Carolina eliminates Lady Vols on last-second shot

No. 1 seed South Carolina (31-0, 16-0 SEC) defeated No. 5 seed Tennessee (19-12, 10-6 SEC), 74-73, Saturday in the SEC Tournament semifinals at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Gamecocks scored the first 13 points of the contest and led, 36-23, at halftime.

Tennessee rallied from a 23-point deficit and led, 73-71, after Rickea Jackson converted a field goal. South Carolina won on a three-point attempt by Kamilla Cardoso, the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, as time expired.

It was the first career three-point field goal for Cardoso. She finished with 13 points for the Gamecocks.

Jackson totaled 22 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, while Jewel Spear recorded 21 points, four rebounds and one steal.

She was also named to the USA TODAY Sports Network All-SEC First Team for a second consecutive season.

Jackson is one of five finalists for the Cheryl Miller Award, recognizing the top small forward in NCAA Division I women’s basketball.

Jackson was Tennessee’s leading scorer during the regular-season, averaging 19.7 points per game. She was also the SEC’s second leading scorer during the regular-season, averaging 19.9 points per game in league contests.

Jackson is averaging 23.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game against ranked teams.

She has recorded three double-doubles this season and has scored 20-plus points in nine games.

No. 5 seed Tennessee (18-11) defeated No. 12 seed Kentucky (12-20), 76-62, Thursday in the SEC Tournament second-round at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.

Tennessee advances to play No. 4 seed Alabama in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. EST.

Sara Puckett scored 22 points, including 10 points during the first quarter, for the Lady Vols. She also recorded eight rebounds and three assists.

Jewel Spear totaled 10 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Tess Darby recorded her first career double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) for Tennessee.

Jasmine Powell and Rickea Jackson scored eight points each for the Lady Vols. Jackson also recorded nine rebounds.

Saniah Tyler led Kentucky with 17 points.

No. 1 South Carolina (29-0, 16-0 SEC) defeated Tennessee (17-11, 10-6 SEC), 76-68, Sunday in the regular-season finale for both schools at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina.

The Gamecocks led, 40-32, at halftime.

Rickea Jackson scored a game-high 29 points for the Lady Vols. She also totaled eight rebounds, three blocks, two assists and one steal. Jackson was one of three Tennessee players to score 10-plus points in the contest.

Jasmine Powell and Jewel Spear scored 12 points each for Tennessee.

Tennessee will next play in the SEC Tournament on Thursday against the winner of Wednesday’s first-round game between No. 12 seed Georgia and No. 13 Kentucky.

Tennessee is the No. 5 seed and is scheduled to play at 2:10 p.m. EST in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Lady Vols defeated Georgia, 95-73, on Feb. 1. Tennessee also defeated the Wildcats, 87-69, on Jan. 7.

Rickea Jackson totaled 16 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks for the Lady Vols. Tamari Key recorded 10 points, five rebounds and two blocks for Tennessee.

Tess Darby scored nine points, while Jasmine Powell added eight points, six rebounds and seven assists. Sara Puckett finished with seven points and 11 points for the Lady Vols.

LSU’s Hailey Van Lith led all scorers with 26 points. Angel Reese scored 11 points for LSU.
