In addition, the interim featherweight title co-headliner between [autotag]Yair Rodriguez[/autotag] and [autotag]Josh Emmett[/autotag], and Perth’s own [autotag]Jack Della Maddalena[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Randy Brown[/autotag] were on hand.

There was plenty of banter to go around among the six competitors, and while nothing got overly heated, it was clear everyone is ready for battle inside the octagon.

Randy Brown thinks he’s being ‘overlooked’ against ‘shiny new toy’ Jack Della Maddalena

Randy Brown thinks people are underestimating him against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 284.

PERTH, Australia – [autotag]Randy Brown[/autotag] thinks people are underestimating him against [autotag]Jack Della Maddalena[/autotag].

Brown (16-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) takes on rising prospect Della Maddalena (13-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) on Saturday’s UFC 284 main card at RAC Arena. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+.

Della Maddalena has impressed in his three octagon finishes and the Perth native is being touted as having title contender potential. But Brown, who’s on a four-fight winning streak, thinks his resume deserves attention, too.

“Shiny new toy, and all the hype is well deserved,” Brown told reporters at media day. “He’s really good. It’s just I am being overlooked, but listen, I’ve been overlooked my entire career. That’s just the nature of my story, I guess. So, I don’t really look into it too much. I just take it as it is, another guy that I need to get out of here.

“It’s one of those situations where you gotta go and get it if you want it. I’ve been here a long time, I’ve put in a lot of work and anyone else on a four-fight win streak that has beaten the guys that I’ve beaten, or in my situation 6-1 in my last 7, anyone else would have already been fighting a top 15. I didn’t have to take this fight.”

That doesn’t mean that Brown isn’t aware of Della Maddalena’s skills – he just thinks he’ll be a big step up in competition for him.

“I think he’s a great fighter,” Brown said. “I think he’s never faced anyone at my level yet, but he’s a tremendous athlete and I think he’s really, really good, and he has a ton of potential. But I think we’re catching him at a good time.”

Jack Della Maddalena aims to put on a ‘masterclass’ vs. Randy Brown at UFC 284

“My plan is to put on a masterclass. Go in there and not be hit, and damage Randy from the get go.”

PERTH, Australia – [autotag]Jack Della Maddalena[/autotag] is looking for another standout performance at UFC 284.

Della Maddalena (13-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) meets [autotag]Randy Brown[/autotag] in a hometown showcase on Saturday’s UFC 284 main card at RAC Arena. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+.

It’s been an incredible start for the rising prospect, who has knocked out three opponents in the first round since punching his ticket to the UFC through Dana White’s Contender Series in September 2021. He hopes to match those performances against Brown.

“My plan is to put on a masterclass,” Della Maddalena told reporters at media day. “Go in there and not be hit, and damage Randy from the get-go.”

[lawrence-related id=2615080,2615046]

Brown (16-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) marks Della Maddalena’s most experienced opponent to date. Brown is 6-1 in his past seven bouts and has won his past four fights in a row.

“He’s a good, challenging opponent,” Della Maddalena said on Brown. “He’s extremely tall, he’s been in the game a lot, fought some of the top guys in the division, so I’m excited to challenge myself. I think I can beat him and that’s what I’m coming to do.”

He continued, “He’s pretty well-rounded. He’s good standing up, he’s good on the ground. He’s got aa diverse style and I think his range is probably one of his most dangerous weapons.”

Randy Brown critical of decision win over Francisco Trinaldo: ‘I know I can do better’

Randy Brown reflects on his unanimous decision win over Francisco Trinaldo at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 211.

[autotag]Randy Brown[/autotag] is not happy with how things went down in his return to the octgaon.

The welterweight picked up a unanimous decision win over veteran Francisco Trinaldo in the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 211 in Las Vegas. But despite getting his hand raised and improving his winning streak to four, Randy Brown (16-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) wasn’t content with his showing.

“I did what I had to do,” Brown said on the ESPN+ post-fight show. “I faced some adversity. I’m tired of facing adversity, but I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do. I’ve got to give him his props, man. Francisco Trinaldo, Uncle Trinaldo – the dude is tough. He’s tough, and he was a good test for me. Just his experience was crazy. His body was tough – just dense. Most guys, you hit them with certain stuff, and they react. They back up. He did not take a step backwards at all. Shout out to him.

“I’m not overly thrilled, because I know I can do better. But the performances will be there. You guys are happy, I noticed Dana (White) was happy. I’m my biggest critic, but that’s how it is.”

[lawrence-related id=2586191,2586080]

With consecutive wins over Alex Oliveira, Jared Gooden, Khaos Williams and now Trinaldo, Brown currently is on the best run of his UFC career. The 32-year-old hopes to log a third fight in 2022 and return to the octagon close to the end of the year.

“I’m ready,” Brown said. “I just want to bounce back in, get one more (fight) for the year. I just want to keep moving forward and keep running it up. Let me get a check. I want to take care of me and my family. That’s what it’s about.

“I’m ready to bounce back and continue the journey and just keep laying down the legacy.”

UFC Fight Night 211: Randy Brown vs. Francisco Trinaldo odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 211 odds and lines between Randy Brown vs. Francisco Trinaldo, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a welterweight bout on the main card, Randy Brown and Francisco Trinaldo meet Saturday at UFC Fight Night 211 at UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the UFC Fight Night 211: Brown vs. Trinaldo odds, with expert picks and predictions.

The fight can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims beginning at 4 p.m. ET and the main card at 7 p.m. ET.

Brown takes the walk to the octagon as the much bigger fighter, standing 6 inches taller than Trinaldo, while holding an 8-inch reach advantage over the Brazilian southpaw.

The Jamaican fighter also holds a 4.42-to-3.15 significant strikes landed per minute advantage and has a 52.29% significant strikes accuracy percentage compared to 50.44% for Trinaldo.

Not only is Brown the finer physical specimen, but he is also 12 years younger than the veteran Trinaldo. The 32-year old enters on a 3-fight win streak, last posting a split-decision win over Khaos Williams in May. Trinaldo, 44, has won his past 2 bouts, sneaking by Danny Roberts via unanimous decision at UFC 274 in May, while topping Dwight Grant by split-decision prior to that in Oct. 2021.

UFC Fight Night 211 Brown vs. Trinaldo picks and predictions

Records: Brown (15-4-0) | Trinaldo (28-8-0)

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

Brown (-360), a.k.a. “Rudeboy”, will cost you over 3 1/2 times your potential return if you want to play him straight up on the 2-way line. That’s not a good play for such a small return.

Instead, look to BROWN BY POINTS (+135) at plus money. Each of his past 2 fights against Williams and Jared Gooden went the distance and Trinaldo hasn’t had a stoppage in each of the past 3. The Brazilian veteran still has tremendous cardio and has gone the distance in 6 of his past 7 bouts.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 ROUNDS (-145) is the way to go. Brown and Trinaldo won’t get the finish in this fight. The 32-year-old Jamaican fighter will be looking for the early knockout, but Trinaldo is a crafty veteran who has seen it all.

YES (-140): FIGHT TO GO THE DISTANCE is also an OK play, although there isn’t really much of a difference between the Over 2.5 Rounds bet and this one. In the event of a late Round 3 finish, you get a little wiggle room with the Over 2.5 Rounds.

The UFC is back on its home turf after a week off, and a pair of women’s strawweight contenders headline the card.

UFC Fight Night 211 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.

(Click here to open a PDF of the staff picks grid in a separate window.)

In the main event, [autotag]Mackenzie Dern[/autotag] (12-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) takes on [autotag]Yan Xiaonan[/autotag] (15-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) at 115 pounds. Dern is a -240 favorite at Tipico Sportsbook; the comeback on Xiaonan is +180. Our 11 editors, writers, radio hosts and videographers have Dern as one of four unanimous picks on the main card at 11-0.

The co-main event features [autotag]Randy Brown[/autotag] (15-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) vs. [autotag]Francisco Trinaldo[/autotag] (28-8 MMA, 18-7 UFC) at welterweight. Brown is a -350 favorite, but he’s not unanimous. One of our pickers is taking Trinaldo to pull off the upset.

Also on the main card, [autotag]Raoni Barcelos[/autotag] (16-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) meets [autotag]Trevin Jones[/autotag] (13-8 MMA, 1-2 UFC) in a bantamweight bout. Barcelos is a -260 favorite and one of our four unanimous picks.

UFC newcomer [autotag]Don Shainis[/autotag] (12-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will have a tough task on his hands for his promotional debut when he meets [autotag]Sodiq Yusuff[/autotag] (12-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) at featherweight. Yusuff is the biggest favorite on the card at 11-1, and not surprisingly is a unanimous pick from our staff members.

Our fourth unanimous nod is [autotag]John Castaneda[/autotag] (19-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) in his fight against [autotag]Daniel Santos[/autotag] (9-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC), which will take place at a contracted 140-pound catchweight. Castaneda is the smallest favorite on the man card at -190, but he pitched an 11-0 shutout in the picks.

And to open the main card, we have our most contentious bout from a picks standpoint. [autotag]Viacheslav Borshchev[/autotag] (6-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) takes on [autotag]Mike Davis[/autotag] (9-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at lightweight. Davis is a 2-1 favorite at the betting window and has a big 8-3 lead in the picks.

In the MMA Junkie reader consensus picks, Dern (77 percent), Brown (77 percent), Barcelos (80 percent), Yusuff (90 percent), Castaneda (76 percent) and Davis (66 percent) are the choices.

Check out all the picks above.

Randy Brown: ‘Uncle’ Francisco Trinaldo slowing down with age, but still has power to put welterweights away

“He’s older now so he’s slowing down and you could see that. But still, what’s the last thing to go with age? That power.”

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Randy Brown[/autotag] won’t underestimate [autotag]Francisco Trinaldo[/autotag].

Brown (15-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) and Trinaldo (28-8 MMA, 18-7 UFC) square off in Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 211 co-main event, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.

Looking to extend his winning streak to four, Brown had nothing but praise for the Brazilian.

“I was honored,” Brown told reporters, including MMA Junkie, at the UFC Fight Night 211 media day on Wednesday. “Uncle Trinaldo has been around for a long time. That’s someone I’ve been watching from even before I got into the game. He’s a vet so ton of respect there, you already know what it is. So, it was an honor and it will be an honor to face him.”

Brown may be facing a 44-year-old veteran, but knows Trinaldo is still dangerous.

“Unc got power,” Brown said. “We know unc got power, we’ve seen it. He’s always bringing crazy energy when he fights, he’s a little Tasmanian devil. He’s older now so he’s slowing down and you could see that. But still, what’s the last thing to go with age? That power. You see him coming up and putting welterweights away so I’d be a fool to be like, ‘Oh well, I just need to coast and get through the rounds.’ Nah, he’s coming with that energy and I’m gonna have to meet him halfway just like that. So, a ton of respect but unc gotta get it.”
