5 Broncos who deserve to make the 2024 Pro Bowl

These five Broncos players should make the Pro Bowl this season. Denver also has a few players worthy of honorable mentions.

Fan voting for the 2024 NFL Pro Bowl has opened and several Denver Broncos players are worthy of national recognition.

The Pro Bowl Games will feature a flag football game again 2024 with Peyton Manning (AFC) and Eli Manning (NFC) returning as coaches. Last season, Elis’s NFC squad defeated Peyton’s AFC team at the Pro Bowl.

Last year, cornerback Pat Surtain was the team’s only representative at the All-Star game. Surtain is likely to make the Pro Bowl again this season, and he might be joined by several teammates.

In addition to Surtain, Denver’s secondary also features star safety Justin Simmons, who previously made the Pro Bowl in 2020.

On offense, guard Quinn Meinerz has been turning heads this season and wide receiver Courtland Sutton keeps scoring touchdowns. The Broncos also have a key special teams player worthy of a Pro Bowl nod.

Honorable mentions: Quarterback Russell Wilson, defensive lineman Zach Allen, cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian, outside linebacker Baron Browning, running back Javonte Williams and fullback Michael Burton.

NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger had praise for Russell Wilson, Courtland Sutton, Quinn Meinerz and Ja’Quan McMillian after Sunday’s win.

Just as he did last week, Brian Baldinger returned this week to break down key plays from a Denver Broncos victory on Twitter/X.

Here are the NFL Network analyst’s film takeaways from the Broncos’ 21-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football in Week 12.

The Denver Broncos upset the Buffalo Bills 24-22 on Monday Night Football in Week 10. One day after the game, NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger took to Twitter/X to break down some of the key plays from the big road win.

Everyone loved Quinn Meinerz’s blocking on ‘Monday Night Football’

Broncos guard Quinn Meinerz is a beast! 😤

Quinn Meinerz remains a fan favorite.

The 24-year-old guard played college football at Wisconsin-Whitewater, a Division III program, and his fantastic college film, impressive performance at the Senior Bowl and unique outdoor workout videos caught the attention of NFL teams in 2021.

Denver used a third-round pick to select Meinerz in the NFL draft three years ago and he quickly emerged as a fan favorite after “letting the belly breathe” at practice. Meinerz is much more than a meme, though. He is emerging as one of the best guards in the NFL, and a Pro Bowl nod could be within reach this season.

Twitter gushed with praise for Meinerz after his impressive performance against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football in Week 10.

5 players Broncos should NOT trade in a potential fire sale

The NFL trade deadline is approaching, but the Broncos should build around these five young players and not look to move them.

The Denver Broncos are 1-3 and clearly willing to move on from veterans as they look to rebuild under new head coach Sean Payton.

Earlier this week, the Broncos decided to part ways with outside linebacker Randy Gregory, opting to release him after failing to find a trade partner. That might be a sign of more changes to come in Denver.

As the NFL’s trade deadline approaches, the Broncos might put several players on the trade block, potentially including wide receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.

While trading one or both of those WRs could make sense for Denver, the Broncos should not part with the following five players this month.

Broncos guard Quinn Meinerz wants to move on from ‘The Belly’ moniker

“I wish we would stop talking about ‘The Belly,'” Broncos guard Quinn Meinerz said. “I’m just trying to play football and get better.”

Denver Broncos offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz quickly became a fan favorite when he joined the team in 2021.

Meinerz went viral during the pre-draft process thanks to his unique outdoor workout video. Meinerz then went viral again for letting “The Belly” breathe at rookie minicamp after being picked by Denver in the third round of the draft.

Now entering his third season in the NFL, Meinerz wants to retire “The Belly.”

“Well, this is going on Year 3,” Meinerz said last week when asked about letting ‘The Belly’ breathe at practice. “I wish we would stop talking about ‘The Belly.’ I’m just kind of doing my thing. I appreciate the question, but I’m just trying to play football and get better. I’m sorry.”

NFL staff members and players voted for the best players at each position this offseason and Meinerz was named an honorable mention among the league’s best guards. He was healthy for 13 games last season and allowed 3.5 sacks in those contests.

Meinerz is poised to serve as the team’s right guard this season following the arrival of new left guard Ben Powers. He’d like fans and pundits to focus on his play — opposed to ‘The Belly’ — in 2023.

Broncos’ Quinn Meinerz gets honorable mention among NFL’s best guards

NFL coaches, players, execs and scouts gave Quinn Meinerz an honorable mention among the game’s top interior offensive linemen.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently interviewed NFL executives, coaches, scouts and players to have them rank the best players in the league at each position.

The Broncos had two players land in the resulting rankings — Pat Surtain was named the No. 1 cornerback and Justin Simmons was named the No. 3 safety.

Denver also had a pair of players receive honorable mention nods at their respective positions — running back Javonte Williams and guard Quinn Meinerz.

Meinerz was healthy for 13 games last year and started all of them. In those contests, he was penalized twice and allowed 3.5 sacks, according to STATS LLC. Meinerz was the sixth-best guard in the NFL last year with an overall grade of 77.7, according to Pro Football Focus.

Meinerz has started 22 games through his first two seasons in the NFL. He is expected to serve as the team’s right guard in 2023 following the arrival of new left guard Ben Powers this offseason.

Ranking the AFC West by interior offensive linemen

We move inside to take a look at how the AFC West stacks up on the offensive line. Who are the top maulers and who is lagging behind. Let’s rank them 1-4.

Broncos roster series: No. 77, OL Quinn Meinerz

Entering his third season, “The Belly” (Broncos guard Quinn Meinerz) will aim to start all 17 games for the first time in his career.

Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at third-year offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz, No. 77.

Before the Broncos: Meinerz played college football at Wisconsin–Whitewater. Despite playing at a Division III school, Meinerz caught the attention of NFL teams with his impressive film (and unique outdoor workouts). After a standout performance at the Senior Bowl, Meinerz was picked by the Broncos in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft.

Broncos tenure: Nicknamed “The Belly,” Meinerz quickly became a fan favorite for “letting the belly breathe” at practice. He dressed for 15 games as a rookie, earning nine starts. Last year, Meinerz was healthy for 13 games and started all of them, allowing 3.5 sacks, according to STATS LLC.

Chance to make the 53-man roster: Meinerz is a lock to make the team this summer. Following the arrival of left guard Ben Powers, Meinerz is expected to serve as the team’s starting right guard in 2023. Meinerz can also play center, but Denver seems to view him primarily as a guard. The 24-year-old offensive lineman will aim to start all 17 games for the first time in his career this fall.

Broncos position preview for 2023: Offensive line

The Broncos’ offensive line looks much better on paper now than it did in 2022.

After signing guard Ben Powers and right tackle Mike McGlinchey during free agency and drafting center Alex Forsyth in April, the Denver Broncos now have 16 offensive linemen on the 90-man offseason roster: Lloyd Cushenberry, Kyle Fuller, Luke Wattenberg, Forsyth, Powers, Quinn Meinerz, Henry Byrd, Will Sherman, Garett Bolles, McGlinchey, Quinn Bailey, Cam Fleming, Isaiah Prince, Christian DiLauro, Demontrey Jacobs and Alex Palczewski.

Bolles and Meinerz are returning as locked-in starters at their spots and Cushenberry is the incumbent at center, but he will face some competition this summer. Powers and McGlinchey will instantly jump to the top of the depth chart at their respective positions.
