Sitting at 12-11 and sixth in the Eastern Conference, the Hawks’ overall record may not scream dominance, but their current five-game win streak tells a different story. Quin Snyder is coaching a roster that GM Landry Fields strategically overhauled. His coaching style emphasizes ball movement, offensive efficiency, and defensive hustle, all of which have unlocked career-best performances from players like Dyson Daniels, Jalen Johnson, and De’Andre Hunter. Atlanta is becoming more than just a playoff hopeful – they’re starting to look like a team that could make some noise in the postseason.

Bogdan Bogdanovic and Hawks coach Quin Snyder had an intense, heated interaction on the bench

The player and the coach insist that everything is all good now, though.

Even though the Atlanta Hawks won the game, it wasn’t smooth sailing for veteran Bogdan Bogdanovic and head coach Quin Snyder.

Late in the fourth, despite carrying a massive lead, the two individuals had an intense interaction while on the bench. There was a delay in the game after Bogdanovic spilled a water bottle, and then visibly frustrated, he approached his coach.

Clearly upset about something, Bogdanovic then got into the face of Snyder. He pointed to himself and was yelling about something before eventually, his teammates got involved and had to separate the two parties.

Atlanta ended up winning the game by a convincing margin, so the vibes were mostly good afterward.

Snyder was asked about the heated interaction and he said that everything was all good.

Here is what Snyder said during his press conference:

“Bogi was terrific. And he and I are in a great place. Better than good. Great. I love how he played as well. And he’s defending, which has been a point of pride for him.”

Bogdanovic also insisted that there were no problems between the two.

According to the Atlanta wing, it was “normal” and that the intensity just suggests that everyone cares about each other.

He added that while it was sad the moment got caught on the broadcast, it is better than both of them holding it in.

Hawks head coach Quin Snyder says the Boston Celtics are ‘really, really hard to guard’

“I think they have a feel for one another and how they play together,” said Snyder.

New Atlanta Hawks head coach Quinn Snyder had some words about his team’s next opponent after defeating the Miami Heat in the 7-8 play-in game and securing a spot in the 2-7 series against the Boston Celtics.

“They’re really connected defensively,” Snyder said via CLNS Media. “I think it’s more than them just having like a lot of weapons.”

“I think they have a feel for one another and how they play together,” added the Hawks head coach. “You can see that in the way they play. Their reads are terrific and they got a lot of guys that can make plays and they want to do that for one another. It makes them really, really hard to guard.”

“I think their versatility defensively is unique also (with) some of the different lineups they can put out,” suggested Snyder.

“I don’t know who the Defensive Player of the Year will be this year, but I know Marcus Smart, (and) I have tons of respect for him. I just think he’s one of those guys that’s a heartbeat — they’re just really good.”

Marc Stein: Brooklyn Nets ‘quietly’ considered hiring Quin Snyder after firing Steve Nash

The Brooklyn Nets could’ve possibly had Quin Snyder as head coach, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

The Brooklyn Nets considered hiring Quin Snyder after they fired Steve Nash and changed their mind on pursuing Ime Udoka, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. Nash was fired on Nov. 1 after a 2-5 start to the season following a dramatic offseason in which then Nets Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving wanted out of Brooklyn.

Once Nash was fired, the Nets began looking for replacements and according to multiple reports at the time, Ime Udoka was the frontrunner for the job. However, Brooklyn changed their mind after the backlash was getting because of Udoka’s reason for being available to hire in the first place. Udoka was suspended by the Boston Celtics for having a relationship with someone within the Celtics’ organization, which violates team rules.

After the Nets pivoted from Udoka, it decided to make Jacque Vaughn the permanent head coach on Nov. 9. Vaughn has had success with Brooklyn despite all of the turmoil that has happened this season culminating with the trades of Durant and Irving. On Feb. 21, Brooklyn offered Vaughn a multi-year contract extension as a reward for his performance. It is still interesting to know that the Nets could’ve had Quin Snyder in the same spot.

Darvin Ham says he’s been getting coaching help from Quin Snyder

Darvin Ham and Quin Snyder were candidates for Lakers head coach last spring. Now, Ham admits Snyder has been helping him in his new role.

Being a first-time head coach in the NBA is difficult, especially when one does so as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

New Lakers head coach Darvin Ham has stepped into an unenviable situation, coaching an aging and some would say domineering LeBron James, a supposedly declining and stubborn Russell Westbrook and a substandard supporting cast.

Los Angeles is 5-11, but very little criticism has been given to Ham.

He admitted he has been getting help from Quin Snyder, who was the head coach of the Utah Jazz for eight seasons until he left in June.

Via OC Register:

“‘Opposites attract, man,’ Ham said of him and Snyder. ‘That’s my dude. Obviously, his swag is way different from my type of swag. But we just find the humor in certain things, and we have this bond, this connection that keeps life in perspective.’

“Ham has given Snyder credit as his pro bono consultant working ‘on a Utah check’ after Snyder stepped away from the Jazz this summer. They talk at odd hours, recapping games and talking about best practices. Said Ham: ‘That dude (Snyder) sends me some long-ass text messages, too.’

“But Snyder, 56, downplays his role: ‘I mostly ask questions, try to help him think about stuff. He knows his team, and he knows what he wants from them.'”

Before the Lakers hired Ham, Snyder was discussed as a candidate for the job. However, he never acknowledged that he had any real interest in the role.

Ham and Snyder actually do have a connection, and a Lakers one to boot as both were part of Mike Brown’s staff in L.A. during the 2011-12 season. Both went through different odysseys afterward before they became NBA head coaches.

Ime Udoka, Quin Snyder to be considered for Nets’ open head coaching spot

I’d expect Mike D’Antoni to be in the mix with Ime Udoka and Quin Snyder for Brooklyn.

Brooklyn, among other teams, has quietly done due diligence on the circumstances of Ime Udoka’s suspension in Boston, source told @SInow. With Udoka unlikely to ever return to the Celtics bench, teams have been looking into what happened. – 1:09 PM
Jared Weiss @JaredWeissNBA
Would Boston let Ime Udoka go to a division rival who has the talent to turn things around? The Nets will certainly try to find out. – 1:08 PM
Jay King @ByJayKing
Ime Udoka worked for the Nets as an assistant the year before the Celtics hired him. His coaching style seems to work with stars. He would make a lot of sense as a Steve Nash replacement if Brooklyn is willing to overlook the serious mess that led to his suspension in Boston. – 1:07 PM
Keith Smith @KeithSmithNBA
Hey, if the Celtics are willing to throw their hands up and just let Ime Udoka walk, whatever. That’s their choice.
I wouldn’t allow it to a division rival, but Boston must really be done with that situation if they just let him leave without issue. – 1:06 PM

More on this storyline

Michael Scotto: I spoke with four NBA executives this week about the Ime Udoka situation in Boston. Each of those four executives told HoopsHype they don’t think Udoka will return as coach of the Boston Celtics after his yearlong suspension is done. Jared Weiss: That’s the consensus. I haven’t had anyone in the organization tell me they don’t think he’s coming back. I feel like they’re moving on with that expectation and that the reason for a suspension is more about whatever legal processes are happening right now rather than they genuinely want to reassess it in the future. I’m sure there is some degree of uncertainty about whether or not they would bring him back. I don’t think it’s like he’s fired, and it’s set in stone, and that’s it. I’m sure there’s some evaluation that has to be done at some point, but it seems so unlikely that he would come back. -via HoopsHype / October 6, 2022
Fresh Prince of Bel Air actress Nia Long has said little about her cheating Boston Celtics coach fiancé, Ime Udoka, but the father of her first son is all about forgiveness. ‘We talk as a family, and it’s all about unconditional love, and that’s what she’s giving him,’ Massai Z. Dorsey told DailyMail.com, sharing his thoughts on the scandal in an exclusive interview. ‘We’re sticking by him 100%.’ -via Daily Mail / October 5, 2022

3 weird Jazz offseason moves that aren’t going to make Donovan Mitchell happy and suggest something big might happen

How much longer will we see Donovan Mitchell play for the Utah Jazz?

The Utah Jazz, one of the most successful regular season teams of the last few years, are currently having an especially weird offseason.

When fans look at the moves the organization has made thus far, it’s a bit hard to understand what the intentions are here. But it doesn’t seem like they are making moves that satisfy their franchise cornerstone, Donovan Mitchell, very happy.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst certainly suggested as much during a recent appearance on First Take. Additionally, recent social media activity from Mitchell may imply something similar.

We don’t know what will happen next, of course, but maybe a re-build is on the horizon. Here are some of the reasons we may believe as much:

How is the search for Quin Snyder’s …

How is the search for Quin Snyder’s replacement progressing? Ryan Smith: “I checked in [Monday] night and [Tuesday] morning, and I think Danny and Justin [Zanik] are doing a great job. I trust them and we trust them with 100% confidence. … The good news is, there’s a lot of phenomenal coaches in the NBA. “… Danny set [the timeline] up in the press conference. That was not my timeline — he was pretty direct on what that timeline would be. That’s what he’s here for — he’s here to lead, and my job is to empower him. … I’m really not [involved with early interviews], to be honest with you. I believe that you hire the best and you empower ’em. I don’t think there’s a better basketball brain than Danny, he’s definitely on the Mount Rushmore of NBA executives.”

If Utah ends up interviewing more than …

If Utah ends up interviewing more than 20 candidates for its coaching vacancy, no one in the coaching community will be surprised. Jazz CEO Danny Ainge loves intel and will surely amass plenty by the time Utah names its successor to Quin Snyder. Utah’s only known candidates with NBA head coaching experience on a list already in the teens are Terry Stotts and Frank Vogel.
