Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (2-5) and Philadelphia Eagles (6-0) play a Week 8 game Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Steelers vs. Eagles odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Steelers played the Miami Dolphins tough on Sunday Night Football last weekend, but came up on the short end of a 16-10 decision. Pittsburgh did cover, and it is 2-0 against the spread (ATS) after starting out 1-3-1 ATS in the first 5 outings. The Under has cashed in 3 in a row for Pittsburgh.

The Eagles are the last remaining unbeaten team in the NFL, and Philadelphia is coming off a bye week. Last time we saw Philly, it was topping Dallas 26-17 on SNF in Week 6, covering a 6.5-point number. The Eagles are 4-1 ATS across the past five 5 games overall.

Steelers at Eagles picks and predictions

Prediction

Eagles 24, Steelers 17

Moneyline

The Eagles (-500) are a good bet to remain unbeaten, but it will get a tough test from its Keystone State rivals.

Philadelphia won 29-21 in its only previous game against an AFC team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, back in Week 4.

Still, you can’t risk 5 times your potential return. That’s too much risk for not enough reward even as of a multi-team parlay.

PASS.

Against the spread

The STEELERS +10.5 (-110) didn’t do so hot last time as a double-digit underdog on the road, as the Buffalo Bills buried them 38-3 in Week 5. However, Pittsburgh was also a 10-point ‘dog against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6 at home, and it won outright, 20-18.

The Steelers have some decent pieces, and they are well-coached. This team is 3-1 ATS in 4 games as an underdog of 7 or more points. They won’t win, but they’ll give Philly all it can handle.

Over/Under

UNDER 42.5 (-110) is a strong play.

The Under has connected in 3 in a row for Pittsburgh, while going 5-2 in 7 games overall. the Under is also 5-2 in the past 7 following a straight-up loss for the Steelers, too.

For the Eagles, the Under has not only cashed in 8 of the past 10 games at home against teams with a losing road record, but the Under is 16-7 in the past 23 games following a bye, too.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Miami Dolphins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Pittsburgh Steelers at Miami Dolphins odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (2-4) face the Miami Dolphins (3-3) on the road for the Sunday night matchup in Week 7. Kickoff is 8:20 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium (NBC). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Steelers vs. Dolphins odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Steelers snapped a 4-game losing streak last week with a 20-18 home win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. QBs Kenny Pickett — who exited in the 3rd quarter for concussion protocol — and Mitch Trubisky each had a touchdown pass. Meanwhile, the defense held the Bucs to 4-for-14 on third-down plays.

The Dolphins have lost 3 straight games after starting the season 3-0. The offense has disappeared. After averaging 27.7 points per game during the 3-0 start, they’ve averaged just 16.0 PPG in the losing streak. Most of the decline can be attributed to QB Tua Tagovailoa (concussion protocol) sitting the last 2½ games after getting injured in the 2nd quarter of streak’s 1st loss — at Cincinnati on a Thursday night. The good news is that he’s expected to play Sunday vs. Pittsburgh.

Steelers at Dolphins picks and predictions

Prediction

Dolphins 24, Steelers 20

Moneyline

The return of Tagovailoa should jump-start the Dolphins offense.

The question is which Steelers defense will show up. It has allowed 20 or fewer points in 3 of its 6 games — the first 2 games and last week vs. the Bucs. In the other 3, they allowed an average of 30.3 points.

The Steelers’ 16.2-point average on offense is 30th in the league.

The return of Tagovailoa will be a big boost and the Steelers will come off the high of their win last week. But the -340 price of a moneyline bet to take the Dolphins isn’t worth it. PASS.

Against the spread

Only 1 of the Dolphins’ 3 wins was by more than 4 points.

The Steelers are 2-3-1 ATS. Miami is 3-3 ATS.

Pickett returns to the Steelers lineup after clearing concussion protocols and should give the offense some life. With more life from both teams, expect a close game.

TAKE STEELERS +7.5 (-117).

Over/Under

The Steelers have not yet had a game that has reached 45 total points this season.

Only 2 of the Dolphins’ 6 games have had 45 or more points.

TAKE UNDER 44.5 (-110).

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2) visit the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-4) at Acrisure Stadium Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Buccaneers vs. Steelers odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Bucs are coming off a 21-15 victory over the Atlanta Falcons that ended up being highlighted by the roughing-the-passer call on QB Tom Brady.

Brady sits 4th in the NFL in passing yards. The Bucs have done what has been excepted of them with wins over New Orleans and Dallas, losing to Green Bay and Kansas City.

As for the Steelers, first-round pick Kenny Pickett, took over at QB and make his first start of the season against the Buffalo Bills, an absolute beatdown for Pittsburgh. It lost 38-3.

The rushing game let them down, totaling just 54 yards, and it has been a consistent issue for the Mike Tomlin-led Steelers. Getting RB Najee Harris going just hasn’t happened often this season.

Buccaneers at Steelers picks and predictions

Prediction

Buccaneers 30, Steelers 21

Moneyline

PASS.

The Steelers are bad and should lose, but at -450, there’s no value in betting on the moneyline road favorite.

Against the spread

LEAN STEELERS +9.5 (-110).

Honestly, I wouldn’t play this until kickoff. The vast majority of the money (90% at time of writing) is on Tampa Bay per pregame.com and this has already blossomed from its 6.5 open.

The hold-up that should put the Bucs behind a bit is the key losses to its secondary. The Bucs’ 3rd- and 4th-best cornerbacks will be out, and one of their defensive captains is out.

While the Steelers didn’t get in the end zone last week, Pickett did total 327 passing yards.

If the Bucs are going to be without key defensive backs against a Steelers team with a rising quarterback and elite receiving weapons, they should be able to score enough to keep this game within single digits.

Pittsburgh is 76-48-2 against the spread (ATS) since 2015. Tomlin has been a covering beast throughout his career, and he should be able to get back on track here.

Over/Under

BET OVER 46.5 (-108).

If both teams were at full strength, Fitzpatrick would be arguably the best defensive player on the field. The loss of both him and DE TJ Watt will cripple the Steelers’ defense, one that allowed 38 points to Buffalo.

The Bucs are a run-heavy side and have amply skilled receivers to give the Steelers problems as well. Pittsburgh also has Pickett starting to make his presence felt, completing 34 of 52 passes.

Also, we’re seeing a “Pros vs. Joes” set up with more tickets on the under and more money on the over. In sports betting, following the money is typically smarter.

Considering the trend movement and the absentees in this battle, I’ll take points to be scored.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (1-3) and Buffalo Bills (3-1) meet Sunday at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Steelers vs. Bills odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

Steelers rookie QB Kenny Pickett played in his 1st NFL game in a 24-20 loss to the New York Jets last Sunday. Pickett threw for 120 yards and 3 INTs on 10-of-13 passing as Pittsburgh failed to cover as a 3-point favorite.

Pittsburgh is 1-3-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last 5 games.

Bills K Tyler Bass made a game-winning 21-yard FG in a 23-20 win at the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday. QB Josh Allen finished with 213 yards, 1 passing TD and 1 INT and ran for a score.

Buffalo is 9-1-2 ATS vs. teams with a losing record.

Steelers at Bills picks and predictions

Prediction

Bills 31, Steelers 10

Moneyline

PASS.

Bills (-1000) will hit, but the price is too high. The spread and the total provide better opportunities.

Against the spread

Bet BILLS -13.5 (-117).

Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin has never been this big of an underdog ATS. This is not an opportunity for Steelers bettors, as the Bills have a Mike Tyson knockout quality. Expect Buffalo to win by margin vs. a vulnerable Pittsburgh team.

Over/Under

Bet UNDER 45.5 (-112).

The Under is 6-1 in their last 7 meetings and 3-1 in Buffalo’s last 4 games. Pittsburgh should struggle to score Sunday in Pickett’s first start and help the Under hit.

New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Jets play a 4th straight game against an AFC North foe. New York lost to the Baltimore Ravens 24-9 at home in Week 1. It then stunned the Cleveland Browns on the road with a 4th-quarter comeback to win 31-30 in Week 2. Last week, the Jets lost 27-12 at home to the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Steelers last played Thursday in Week 3, a 29-17 setback on the road against the Browns as the Over hit for the 1st time in 3 games. Pittsburgh hasn’t won since a 23-20 overtime win in Cincinnati in Week 1.

Jets at Steelers picks and predictions

Prediction

Steelers 26, Jets 17

Moneyline

The STEELERS (-190) are a little on the pricey side, but if you don’t want to fool around with laying the points, Pittsburgh won’t cost you more than 2 times your potential return. Pittsburgh is a particularly attractive play for those playing in survivor pools.

Against the spread

STEELERS -3.5 (-108) is a little more risky, especially because of that hook. With QB Zach Wilson back after preseason knee surgery, things could go 1 of 2 ways. He could be very effective for the Jets +3.5 (-112), helping them hang around, or he could be very rusty and this could be tremendous news for the Steelers.

I expect some rust from Wilson before he gets his sea legs in the 2nd half. Pittsburgh should have this covered, however.

Over/Under

OVER 41.5 (-110) is worth playing ever so slightly. This is a super low total for this day and age, although it makes sense since both of these teams have cashed the Under in 2 of their 3 games to date. The Over is 5-2 in the past 7 games on the road for the Jets, however.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1) and the Cleveland Browns (1-1) meet in a Week 3 Thursday Night Football game at FirstEnergy Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled 8:15 p.m. ET (PRIME VIDEO). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Steelers vs. Browns odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Steelers are back on the road and look to go 2-0 away from Acrisure Stadium. Pittsburgh already has a division road win under its belt, topping Cincinnati in Week 1 by a 23-20 score in overtime. The Steelers were edged 17-14 at home last weekend against the New England Patriots.

The Browns are likely happy for a quick turnaround as they get a chance to wash out the bad taste in their collective mouths after a 31-30 loss to the New York Jets in Week 2. Cleveland led 30-17 with 1:55 to go, but a late touchdown, ensuing onside kick and a game-winning TD with 22 seconds left in regulation stunned the sellout crowd.

Steelers at Browns picks and predictions

Prediction

Steelers 20, Browns 16

Money line

The STEELERS (+175) are a value play here.

Pittsburgh lost a narrow game at home against New England last week and already has a road win this season. While the play of QB Mitch Trubisky has been mediocre at best, the defense is picking up the intensity, and RB Najee Harris is a dependable running back.

As long as Pittsburgh’s run defense can at least contain RB Nick Chubb, the Steelers should be able to win this one outright.

Against the spread

STEELERS +3.5 (-103) is a strong play if you just cannot pull the trigger on them straight up.

The Steelers have covered 4 in a row inside the division, including Week 1 at Cincinnati, and they’re 5-1 ATS in the past 6 meetings with Cleveland, too.

The Browns have struggled in the back end of the defense. They allowed Jets QB Joe Flacco to look like he turned back the clock to his Baltimore Ravens glory days last week. Could Trubisky be the next to have a strong showing?

Over/Under

UNDER 38.5 (-115) is the way to go here.

Points are usually at a premium when these AFC North rivals square off. We saw the Under cash in both meetings last season.

The Under is also 4-0 in the past 4 inside the division for the Steelers and is 6-1 in the past 7 appearances on a Thursday for the Browns. The Under is also 5-2 in the past 7 home games for the Browns, 5-2 in the past 7 in this series overall and 7-2 in the previous 9 battles alongside Lake Erie.

The New England Patriots (0-1) face the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Patriots vs. Steelers odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

Neither of these teams looked good in Week 1. The Patriots were unable to move the ball, or score on the Miami Dolphins while giving up 23 points. For the Steelers, they beat the Cincinnati Bengals, but they did not look good doing it.

QB Joe Burrow threw 4 INTs and lost a fumble for Cincinnati. Despite this, the Bengals still managed 165 more yards of total offense than the Steelers,  who won because of Bengals mishaps in the kicking game as well.

This is not going to be fun game to watch. Even for fans of these 2 teams.

Patriots at Steelers picks and predictions

Prediction

Steelers 17, Patriots 16

Money line

PASS. Too close for comfort in this game.

If you want to make a ML wager on either team, you are chancing a lot. Both teams looked bad in Week 1 and the chances of either team winning a snoozer is high.

Against the spread

LEAN with the hometown STEELERS +2.5 (-112). With 2 bad teams, the underdog is the safest wager.

Over/Under

The only way to play this game is UNDER 40.5 (-112).

Did you see these 2 teams last week? So, did I. Which is why I can not predict either to score many points.

The Patriots game went 9.5 points Under this number and the Steelers only went Over because they scored 16 points off 5 Burrow turnovers. TAKE UNDER 40.5 (-112) as my FAVORITE and ONLY PLAY in this one.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals Week 1 odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Cincinnati Bengals welcome the Pittsburgh Steelers to Paycor Stadium Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Steelers vs. Bengals odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Bengals are coming off their 1st Super Bowl appearance since 1988 and they’ll look to avoid a hangover similar to that of their opponent — the Los Angeles Rams, who were blown out 31-10 Thursday by the Buffalo Bills.

The Bengals are led by star QB Joe Burrow and standout WR Ja’Marr Chase. They added 3 starting offensive linemen in free agency and have retained the key parts of their defense as well.

The Steelers, on the other hand, saw their long-time QB Ben Roethlisberger retire. He’ll, at least for now, be replaced by QB Mitchell Trubisky and not 1st-round pick QB Kenny Pickett.

Pittsburgh’s offense will be led by RB Najee Harris while the defense is led by DE T.J. Watt, one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL. Pittsburgh is projected to finish last in the AFC North.

Steelers at Bengals picks and predictions

Prediction

Bengals 24, Steelers 20

Money line

PASS.

The Steelers don’t have the talent to keep pace and were destroyed on the road in this environment last season.

It could be worth a small play to back Mike Tomlin if you’re high on the Watt-led defense, but ultimately, I’d look toward the spread to back Pittsburgh.

Against the spread

BET PITTSBURGH +6.5 (-110).

In 16 years, Tomlin has not had a losing season as a head coach. While that may not matter much here, it goes to show that he’s an elite coach, and elite coaches know how to keep games close.

The Bengals won 41-10 at home last season against Pittsburgh, but with it being 31-3 at half, Harris received just 8 carries and Roethlisberger had 2 picks. Pittsburgh should have more success in the pass game with Trubisky.

Also, the Bengals started off slow last season, losing in their home opener to the Minnesota Vikings. With Burrow and Tee Higgins not playing the preseason, a slow start seems almost inevitable.

The Steelers had a league-high 55 sacks last season, and while the Bengals did add 3 new linemen, they haven’t played together in an NFL game yet and didn’t get reps in the preseason.

With a rookie also starting on the line, there could be some possession-changing false starts or missed blocks. Given the strength of the Steelers defense, I like them to keep it within a touchdown.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 44.5 (-108).

That last sentence is why I favor the under in this matchup as well. The Steelers should want to take away the Bengals receivers and drop into zone with multiple safeties.

It could open up RB Joe Mixon and a rush attack that had 198 yards at home last season against the Steelers. If that’s the case, expect the clock to tick down in a hurry as Harris will get the bulk of the load for the Steelers.

The Bengals have an underrated defense that was the real difference-maker in their Super Bowl run. S Jessie Bates hasn’t missed a beat since his hold out, and they’ll add several new faces to the defensive line.

Pittsburgh was 7-10-1 while Cincinnati was 8-13 (playoff included) O/U last season, so both sides were better at cover the Under. Considering the style of the Steelers and likely pace of the game, I like the Under here.

Detroit Lions at Pittsburgh Steelers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Detroit Lions at Pittsburgh Steelers odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Lions (1-1) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0) close out their preseason schedule Sunday. Kick off is 4:30 p.m. ET (CBS) at Acrisure Field in Pittsburgh. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Lions vs. Steelers odds, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Lions turned the ball over twice in its preseason-opening 27-23 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, giving up a game-winning touchdown pass with under 2 minutes left in the game. They squeaked by the Indianapolis Colts 27-26 last week when Indy failed to convert on a 2-point attempt to win the game.

The Steelers got 2 TD passes from rookie QB Kenny Pickett in a 32-25 win over the Seattle Seahawks to open the preseason. Pittsburgh beat the Jacksonville Jaguars last week 16-15 with Pickett adding another TD pass.

Lions at Steelers picks and predictions

Prediction

Steelers 25, Lions 22

Money line

Both teams plan on playing starters, which gives the Steelers the advantage, although the Lions will play their starters for a full half.

Considering that, PASS on the money line.

The Steelers’ starters should establish the tone, but there is too much juice to wager the Steelers to win on the money line.

Against the spread

While the Pittsburgh starters should get the lead and take it into the 2nd half, both teams have had close games. The Steelers won by only 1 point last week and the Lions had a 4-point loss and a 1-point  win.

The guys playing at the end of the game will be fighting for their NFL lives. It should end up being a close game.

Take the LIONS +4.5 (-105).

[the_huddle]

Over/Under

The Lions’ 2 previous preseason games had totals of 50 and 53 points. The Steelers had 1 game of 57 and then only 31 last week.

In the Lions’ games, both they and their opponents scored in the 20s.

Expect that again. Take OVER 38.5 (-108).

Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Seattle Seahawks visit the Pittsburgh Steelers in the preseason opener for each team. Kickoff is Saturday at 7 p.m. ET at Acrisure Stadium. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Seahawks vs. Steelers odds, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

Both teams are looking for their next starting quarterback as Ben Roethlisberger retired from the Steelers and the Seahawks traded Russell Wilson in the offseason to the Broncos.

Mitchell Trubisky will get the start for the Steelers, while Geno Smith appears to have the lead in the QB competition with Drew Lock for Seattle.

The Seahawks missed the postseason last year, while the Steelers made it but lost in the 1st round to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Seahawks at Steelers picks and predictions

Prediction

Seahawks 23, Steelers 16

Money line

The Seahawks went 1-2 in last year’s preseason, dropping their first 2 games. The Steelers, who played in the Hall of Fame Game and had an extra contest, went 3-1, winning their first 3.

With uncertain lineups and uncertain execution, there is 1 worthwhile play here and it is simply because of the value in this preseason matchup. All preseason matchups are basically tossups because when the games are decided, it is usually when there are back-of-the-roster players and guys who won’t be in the NFL. Take the value. SEAHAWKS (+155).

Against the spread

Results in preseason games can vary wildly. The Steelers won 3 preseason contests by 6 or more and lost 1 by more than 20.

The Seahawks had 1 win by 27 and 2 losses by 13-plus.

PASS on the spread.

Over/Under

Preseason totals also fluctuate wildly. Last year, Seattle scored 27 and then had 2 games in single digits.

The Steelers had 3 games scoring 16 or more points, 2 in the 20s and 1 in single digits.

I LEAN OVER 36.5 (-112).
