New York Jets at New York Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New York Jets at New York Giants odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Jets (3-3) and New York Giants (2-5) meet for Sunday for a Week 8 matchup at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Giants odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The weather forecast is rather gloomy for this Battle of Gotham. Showers are expected to roll in at 8 a.m. ET, with the rain picking up right before kickoff. The forecast calls for a 70% chance of rain, tapering off slightly by the end of the game, with temperatures in the 50’s with winds of 5-8 mph.

The Jets are on a roll, winning 2 straight games, including a stunning 20-14 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles last time out prior to the bye. Gang Green has covered 3 in a row, too, all as an underdog.

The Giants scored a 14-7 win last time out against the Washington Commanders, and Big Blue has covered the past 2, also as an underdog in each. The Under is on a 5-0 roll for the G-Men, while going 6-1 in 7 games overall. QB Tyrod Taylor is expected to make his 3rd consecutive start in place of the injured QB Daniel Jones.

Jets at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 19, Giants 15

Moneyline

The JETS (-164) are worth playing on the moneyline straight up, if you want to declare a winner, and you do not want to have to mess around with the points. It’s going to be a sloppy mess with the rain and wind, but the arrow is pointed in favor of the green team in this New York battle, as it is just healthier at the moment.

Against the spread

The JETS -3 (-110) are worth playing lightly. They’re the healthier team, coming off a bye week to rest the bumps and bruises from the 1st half of the season.

The Giants +3 (-110) have been pretty competitive with Taylor under center, covering the past 2 games, while knocking off the Commanders. They’ve kept the offense methodical, taking the air out of the ball, while leaning upon the defense. However, the G-Men have too many injuries along the offensive line, and if Thibodeaux cannot go, that’s a big blow to the D.

Over/Under

UNDER 35.5 (-110) is the lean, but there isn’t a lot of conviction here.

This is a very, very low number, but with the weather factoring in, we should see both offenses in run mode most of the day. The ground and pound keeps the clock moving, which is pleasing to Under bettors.

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Philadelphia Eagles (5-0) will take on the New York Jets (2-3) at Met Life Stadium Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Eagles vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

Twelve and 0. This is the Eagles’ all-time record against the Jets — the 1st meeting was in 1973 with Philly pulling out a 24-23 win at home. The Eagles will look to keep the streak alive as they travel up the New Jersey Turnpike for this Sunday tilt.

Things were supposed to change after the Jets acquired QB Aaron Rodgers in the offseason. This was expected to be a marquee matchup with the Jets having a legitimate shot against the defending NFC champions, but Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury in the season opener and the air fizzled out of the hype balloon.

The injury forced New York to turn back to QB Zach Wilson, who managed to steer the Jets to an stunning 22-16 overtime home win vs. the Buffalo Bills after Rodgers was stretchered off the field. However, Wilson and the Jets would lose their next 3 games before defeating a not-very good Denver Broncos squad 31-21 last week — New York was a 2.5-point road underdog.

The Eagles had a harder time in Week 5, winning as 4-point road favorites at the Los Angeles Rams 23-14. Philly trailed 14-10 late in the 1st half before QB Jalen Hurts engineered a 75-yard drive in the final 32 seconds to take a 17-14 lead as time expired. Philly would only score 6 more points — 2 field goals — in the 4th quarter, but the defense shut down the Rams for the 9-point victory.

Eagles at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Eagles 30, Jets 6

Moneyline

PASS.

The Eagles will prevail, but it’s not smart to bet on a -300 favorite — a number too high to be of value.

Against the spread

BET PHILADELPHIA -6.5 (-110).

The Eagles are 3-1-1 ATS this season. In Week 4, they were pressed to overtime by the Washington Commanders before escaping with a 34-31 home win as 10-point favorites. The “push” came in a 34-28 victory as 6-point home favorites against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.

On the road, Philadelphia is 3-0 ATS.

Facing the Eagles defense will be a tough challenge for the Jets and Wilson. New York’s offensive line will find it difficult to hold up against the likes of DLs Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham. Wilson will be running for his life all afternoon and the Jets’ offensive output will be limited.

The line of PHILADELPHIA -6.5 is not high enough to deter a wager.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 41.5 (-110).

Philadelphia has been scoring 28.2 points per game (PPG) to rank 5th in the NFL. Even after scoring 31 against a dismantled Broncos defense, the Jets only average 18.6 PPG, ranking 24th.

Behind RB Breece Hall (177 rushing yards last week vs. Denver), New York will look to run the ball, thereby slowing the game down and limiting the number of possessions Philadelphia gets on offense. We saw last Sunday against the Rams that the Eagles are comfortable doing the same thing as they produced 2 drives of 7-plus minutes in the second half.

The Jets average 123.2 rushing yards per game (11th in the NFL), but the Eagles defense leads the league in least rushing yards allowed at 61.2 per game. The winner of this ground-game matchup will dictate the contest.

Expect a blowout in favor of Philly and a low-scoring affair. UNDER 41.5 (-110) is the way to go.

New York Jets at Denver Broncos odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New York Jets at Denver Broncos odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Denver Broncos (1-3) welcome the New York Jets (1-3) to Empower Field at Mile High Sunday. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Broncos odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Broncos beat the Chicago Bears on the road in Week 4 to pick up their first win of the season. They won 31-28, pushing as a 3-point favorite. Denver is 0-3-1 against the spread (ATS) this season and is 0-2 ATS and 0-2 straight up at home. QB Russell Wilson is leading the Broncos, having thrown 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions through 4 games.

The Jets lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 23-20 in Week 4, covering as an 8.5-point home underdog. New York is 2-2 ATS this season and 0-1 ATS on the road. Its lone road game was a 30-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2. RB Breece Hall has been the most lethal weapon for the Jets, running for 210 yards through 4 games.

Jets at Broncos picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 24, Broncos 20

Moneyline

BET JETS (+115).

Since the road loss to Dallas, QB Zach Wilson for the Jets has looked far more competent. He hasn’t had an interception in either game and is coming off a good showing with 28-of-39 for 245 yards and 2 touchdowns. If he can play turnover-free football, this defense will give the Jets a chance to win games. He proved he can do that last week.

The Broncos have a few key weapons out, especially on the defensive side of the ball. They are 1-1 on the road but are 1-2 straight up as a favorite, losing at home to the Washington Commanders and Las Vegas Raiders.

Expect the New York defense to dominate and back JETS (+115).

Against the spread

PASS.

For the value, take the Jets on the moneyline. The Broncos have yet to cover this season and have struggled in games that they entered as a favorite.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 43.5 (-110).

The Broncos are 3-1 O/U, and their defense, especially without Browning, has been lacking. They have allowed 28, 70 and 35 over the last 3 weeks.

The Wilson-led Jets looked better last week and should be able to score on a hole-filled defense. The Jets are 2-2 O/U this season and have allowed 22 or more points in 3 of 4 games as well.

Back OVER 43.5 (-110).

Kansas City Chiefs at New York Jets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Kansas City Chiefs at New York Jets odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Kansas City Chiefs (2-1) and New York Jets (1-2) meet Sunday night at MetLife Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Chiefs vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Chiefs covered a -13 spread rolling the hapless Chicago Bears 41-10 in Week 3. They scored 27 points in the 2nd quarter as the Over sneaked across the finish line. KC is 2-1 ATS and face another team headed in the wrong direction. QB Patrick Mahomes has thrown for 803 yards, 7 touchdowns and 2 INTs on the young season.

The Jets were taken down, 15-10, by the New England Patriots in Week 3. The Pats covered a -2.5 spread, and the Jets are 1-2 ATS on the year. The teams failed to surpass a low 35.5 total. QB Zach Wilson drew the ire of fans, throwing 18-for-36 for 157 yards, 0 TDs and 0 INTs in the defeat.

Chiefs at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Chiefs 34, Jets 10

Moneyline

The Chiefs are rolling on offense, and Mahomes looked like the ankle he rolled 2 weeks ago is a non-factor. There is a lot of hype surrounding this team, especially considering the tabloid buzz surrounding star TE Travis Kelce‘s dating life. That could become a factor later in the year, but there’s little the Jets can do to stop them. That being said, we’re not taking 4-to-1 odds.

I would consider taking PATRICK MAHOMES UNDER 274.5 PASSING YARDS (-115). He has only topped that number in 1 of 3 games, and the Jets are allowing an average of 231 passing yards per game. The Chiefs could get up by a lot and focus on the run.

Against the spread

With how bad Wilson has looked under center, it’s a little surprising this spread isn’t in double digits yet. The Chiefs should roll, and the only chance New York has is by controlling the clock with the ground game.

I’ll take the CHIEFS -8.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Each team is 1-2 O/U to start the year. KC is 4-6 O/U over their last 10 games, and the Jets are 3-7. These teams haven’t faced one another since 2020, which resulted in a 35-9 slaughter by the Chiefs. That’s about where I see this one as well. Go easy, because we’ll have to depend on the Jets scoring at least 10, but take the OVER 41.5 (-110).

New England Patriots at New York Jets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Patriots at Jets odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New England Patriots (0-2) meet the New York Jets (1-1) on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium. The AFC East rivals kick off the Week 3 game at 1 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Patriots vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Patriots are coming off a hard-fought 24-17 home loss last week against the Miami Dolphins as 2-point underdogs. The Patriots’ defense made significant halftime adjustments to hold the formidable Miami offense to only 1 score in the 2nd half. New England will look to keep that defensive momentum going, as they prepare to keep Jets QB Zach Wilson guessing.

New York is coming off an embarrassing 30-10 loss to the Cowboys as 8-point underdogs. The Jets defensive front led by Quinnen Williams will need to be felt by Patriots QB Mac Jones all afternoon. Jones looks to rebound after an up-and-down against Miami, where he threw for 231 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.

Patriots at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Patriots 17, Jets 16

Moneyline

Although New England has beaten the Jets 14 games in a row and won 24 of the last 26 meeting between these AFC East rivals, these are obviously very different teams than in past years. Through 2 games, Jones leads the league in pass attempts, which won’t bode well for New England against this Jets defense. However Bill Belichick will be sure to mix in his back of tricks to keep the young offensive line of New York on their toes.

LEAN NEW ENGLAND (-150).

Against the spread

New York’s lackluster offense simply can’t be trusted here. At the same time, they do have various matchups they can take advantage of here. Aside from getting RB Breece Hall more touches, look for the Jets to get the ball to WR  Garrett Wilson in space as much as possible. Meanwhile, the Jets CBs on the outside should prove to be a huge issue for the Patriots wideouts.

STAY AWAY.

Over/Under

The weather forecast calls for rain all day in East Rutherford, N.J.  Look for this to be a tight defensive matchup, and with the Jets hitting the Under in 13 of their last 17, the UNDER 36 (-110) has to be play the play here.

New York Jets at Dallas Cowboys odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New York Jets at Dallas Cowboys odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Jets (1-0) visit the Dallas Cowboys (1-0) on Sunday with kickoff from AT&T Stadium set for 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Cowboys, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

New York pulled out a 22-16 OT win againstthe Buffalo Bills despite losing starting QB Aaron Rodgers to injury after just 4 snaps of action. Backup QB Zach Wilson played just well enough for the Jets as he completed 67%  of his passes (14 of 21) for 140 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT.

What propelled New York to the win was its play on defense and in the run game. RB Breece Hall shined in his return from injury, totaling 127 yards on 10 carries. New York’s defense forced Bills QB Josh Allen to commit 4 turnovers and racked up 5 sacks and 8 tackles for loss as a team.

Dallas stunned the NFL world with a 40-0 rout of the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. Similarly to New York, the defense shined for the Cowboys. QB Dak Prescott completed just 13 of 24 of his passes (54%) for 143 yards and RB Tony Pollard ran for 70 yards and 2 TDs on 14 carries.

Dallas’ defense scored on a blocked FG return and an interception return while also forcing 3 turnovers, 7 sacks, and 10 tackles for loss as a team.

Jets at Cowboys picks and predictions

Prediction

Cowboys 21, Jets 17

Moneyline

PASS.

The Cowboys should pick up the win, but as (-450) favorites the line is not worth the juice. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

LEAN JETS +9 (-110).

I expect this to be a low-scoring game that is headlined by running backs and defense for both teams, which will make it easier for the Jets to keep this game close. I expect New York to do as much as they can to hide Wilson and not force him to do much. If Wilson can play similarly to the way he did last week, the Jets will be able to keep this a 1-possession game.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 38.5 (-110).

I am expecting Wilson to have a lot of trouble throwing the football as the Cowboys have likely the best CB duo in the NFL with Trevon Diggs and Stephon Gilmore. The Cowboys’ offense didn’t look phenomenal despite their lopsided Week 1 win, and I expect the Jets’ defensive line to give the ‘Boys problems with both their pass rush and run stuffing abilities.

The Buffalo Bills make the trip down to East Rutherford, N.J., on Monday to take on the New York Jets in the final game of Week 1. Kickoff at MetLife Stadium is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. E.T. (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Bills vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

New York has its sights set on the playoffs and beyond after making a huge splash in the offseason with multiple free agency signings. Aside from having last season’s offensive and defensive rookies of the year, the Jets traded for  legendary QB Aaron Rodgers and struck gold with the late free-agent addition of pro bowl RB Dalvin Cook to pair with dynamic Breece Hall in the backfield.

The Bills look to connect the dots with a comparable roster to the squad that’s led them to 3 consecutive AFC East crowns since 2020. An offense led by QB Josh Allen will continue to rely on his chemistry with premier WR Stefon Diggs. Buffalo will need to limit the giveaways and find that dynamic X-factor they can consistently rely on to push them over the top.

Bills at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Bills 27, Jets 20

Moneyline

The feeling around the Bills is they have all the pieces they need to win. Look for them to come out with a chip on their shoulder to start their 2023 campaign against the new-look Jets. WR Garrett Wilson and the rest of the Jets offense will do their best to avoid growing pains with Rodgers, but it’s quite inevitable. Look for the BILLS (-130) to force the Jets to play from behind all night.

Against the spread

BILLS -1.5 (-110) is a better play unless you think Buffalois only to win by a point. The Jets young, athletic defense led by DBs Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed, have extremely bright futures ahead of them, but expect to see them out on the field a bit more than they would like.

Over/Under

Over 45.5 (-110) is probably the right play here. Look for Rodgers to salvage some nice stats once the Jets fall behind. However, one can never count out the Hall of Famer and the extent to which he has an impact on the overall game. But I would STAY AWAY.

New York Jets at New York Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New York Jets at New York Giants odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Jets (1-2) face the New York Giants (1-1) on Saturday at MetLife Stadium as both teams wrap up their preseason schedule. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET (NFL Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Giants odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Jets were tripped up 13-6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last time out in what was technically their only home game on the preseason schedule. Since a 21-16 loss against the Cleveland Browns in the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 3, the Jets D has allowed just 13 total points in the past 2 outings, cashing the Under in both games.

The Giants nipped the Carolina Panthers 21-19 last time out, but they failed to cash as 2.5-point favorites at most shops. Big Blue has averaged 18.5 points per game (PPG) while conceding 20.5 PPG through its 2 games, cashing the Over in both outings.

The Jets won a 31-27 thriller in the preseason finale between these clubs last season. Gang Green has won the past 2 preseason meetings, with the G-Men last win in the annual exhibition of Gotham roommates coming on Aug. 8, 2019.

Jets at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 26, Giants 18

Moneyline

The Jets (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s quite expensive for a standalone wager, especially in a preseason game.

The good news is that QB Aaron Rodgers will take his first preseason snaps in this Mayor’s Trophy Game, which is the 54th preseason meeting in the past 55 years between these 2 clubs.

PASS.

Against the spread

The JETS -6 (-110) are worth playing in this “road” matchup, which is basically the other locker room at MetLife Stadium. Rodgers will bring a lot of excitement to this game and it should be a rather electric crowd for a preseason tilt.

The Giants could potentially use QB Daniel Jones and RB Saquon Barkley early in this game, so Jets side bettors will have to be patient. But in the end Jets QB Zach Wilson should be more than capable against the G-Men backups, we should see Gang Green pull away, winning and covering for the 3rd straight preseason meeting.

Over/Under

OVER 39 (-110) is a strong play, especially based on the Giants’ trends.

The Over has cashed in each of the 2 preseason games for the G-Men so far. It will be interesting to see if the Jets D can hold them down. The Jets have allowed just 13 total points in the past 2 games, including a shutout of the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte on Aug. 12.

Still, we generally see fireworks in this game, including a crazy 58 combined points last season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Jets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Jets odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Jets (1-1) welcome the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1) to MetLife Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Buccaneers vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

After opening their preseason with a 21-16 loss to the Cleveland Browns in the Hall of Fame game, the Jets obliterated the Carolina Panthers 27-0. QB Tim Boyle threw for 2 TDs on 10 attempts, and QB Zach Wilson went 14-of-20 for 123 passing yards and a TD. Expect another healthy dosage of those two. RB Israel Abanikanda gained 56 yards on 12 carries.

The Buccaneers lost their preseason game to the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17 at home. The Bucs have a quarterback battle on their hands, so expect both Baker Mayfield (63 yards, 1 TD) and Kyle Trask (99 yards, I INT) to play several drives each.

Buccaneers at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 24, Buccaneers 17

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s not much value here. The defensive depth clearly isn’t there for Tampa Bay, allowing 27 points to Pittsburgh in Week 1. Neither quarterback put on a show either against the Steelers, so those issues still exist and should make bettors hesitant despite the plus-money value on the Bucs to win.

Similarly, Boyle and Wilson looked good against Carolina, but at (-165), the value in backing New York is on the spread.

Against the spread

BET JETS -3.5 (-110).

The Jets looked much better against the Panthers than against the Browns. Wilson looked much more comfortable, and the Jets’ defense forced several turnovers.

That same defensive success should be seen against Mayfield and Trask, 2 turnover-prone QBs. Also, the Jets may get a boost from their starters taking some reps which should aid its start as the top-end talent on New York is better than on Tampa Bay.

The Bucs struggled defensively against the Steelers, and there’s no real reason to believe that will be different on Saturday night. Both QBs failed to impress as well.

Expect the Jets, at home, to come out on top and cover. Bet JETS -3.5 (-110).

FOOTBALL NEVER STOPS
Live games, analysis and more 7 days a week: Get ESPN+

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 36.5 (-110).

The Jets scored 27 points on Carolina and 16 on Cleveland. Their offense is potent and could get some aid if QB Aaron Rodgers takes the field. They should get some help from a lacking Bucs defense as well, which gave up 27 and over 300 yards to Pittsburgh.

The Bucs put up 322 yards, 256 of which were through the air, and scored 17 points. Mayfield and Trask should look to impress even late in the game against potentially third-string competition and could get some cheap points on the board then. Expect the Bucs to keep the pressure on because of the QB battle.

TAKE OVER 36.5 (-115).
