5 Alabama stars projected first round in latest 2021 NFL mock draft

The 2021 Alabama Crimson Tide squad is full of talented players. Some of whcih will be making their way to the NFL. The 2021 mock draft …

No. 1 Alabama is loaded with stars that are bound to be taking their talents to the NFL soon. While some are too young to declare for the draft, others have, at most, two games remaining.

With one or two games left, there are only so many more opportunities for players who are looking to enter the NFL draft to showcase their talents in-game.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller released his latest 2021 NFL mock draft, which features five Crimson Tide stars.

Here’s where they landed:

Fifteen Alabama players receive All-SEC honors

The Alabama Crimson recently completed another undefeated season and a win in the SEC championship game. Next up for the Crimson Tide is the College Football Playoff.

To the surprise of no one, Alabama led the SEC with 15 players receiving All-SEC honors.

Leading the way on offense was quarterback Mac Jones, wide receiver DeVonta Smith, running back Najee Harris, offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood, guard Deonte Brown, and center Landon Dickerson. Each of those players was named first-team All-SEC.

On defense, Crimson Tide had three players named first-team All-SEC in defensive lineman Christian Barmore, linebacker Dylan Moses, and cornerback Patrick Surtain II.

Linebacker Christopher Allen and defensive back Malachi Moore were named to the second team, while receiver Jaylen Waddle made the second team on special teams, despite missing time with an injury.

Linebacker Will Anderson Jr., offensive lineman Javion Cohen and Moore made the All-SEC freshman team.

This is the 13th consecutive season that Alabama has led the SEC in all-conference selections.

2021 Mock Draft Roundup 2.0: Who experts are projecting Chargers to select

The Chargers are in a prime position to go best player available.

After Sunday’s win over the Falcons, the Chargers are currently 4-9 and hold the No. 4 spot.

With only three games remaining, the positions that Los Angeles could address are all starting to come into fruition.

With that being said, let’s take a look at who draft experts are pairing with L.A. in the first-round along with the reasoning for it.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper & Todd McShay — WR Ja’Marr Chase, LSU

“Allen, Williams and Chase would instantly become one of the NFL’s best receiving trios, though Williams will be a free agent in 2022. This is definitely a spot to watch for a potential trade up as well.”

The Draft Network’s Drae Harris — CB Patrick Surtain, Alabama

“Patrick Surtain brings youth, length, and positional flexibility to L.A. He is big-game tested and has played under a microscope since high school. His ability to be effective in man or zone from a press or off position will be a welcome addition to a ball club that desperately needs a spark in the secondary.”

Pro Football Network’s Neal Driscoll — WR Ja’Marr Chase, LSU

“In a perfect world, there would be an upper-echelon offensive line prospect who could come in and protect Justin Herbert. The Chargers’ woeful offensive line has been the team’s Achilles heel for quite some time. Taking an offensive lineman not named Penei Sewell this high would be too rich for me, so why not provide Herbert with a game-changing wide receiver? The combination of Keenan Allen and Ja’Marr Chase would be an absolutely lethal combo for the Chargers’ dynamic rookie signal-caller.”

NBC Sport’s Glynn Morgan — EDGE Greg Rousseau

“The Chargers face several realities about their defense going forward, and most of them surround the team’s lack of a consistent pass rush. Unrestricted free-agent, edge rusher, Melvin Ingram has been ineffective in a contract year, and his backup, Uchenna Nwosu hasn’t played to his potential. The anemic pass rush has overworked a secondary that’s surrendered 24 passing touchdowns (tied for fifth worst in NFL) in a total of 12 games played. Drafting a game changing talent like Rousseau, would ease the double teams pro-bowler, Joey Bosa faces and lessen the time Charger defensive backs need to cover receivers.”

Sportsnaut’s Matt Johnson — CB Patrick Surtain, Alabama

“The Chargers seem destined fora top-five pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. They would love to jump ahead of the Bengals, sniping them for Penei Sewell. Since the Jets and Jaguars won’t be trading down, that is unlikely to happen. There is a slight drop off in talent and positional value after the top-three players, but that shouldn’t sway Los Angeles from being happy about its top-five pick. In that spot, two great options stand out.”

5 Alabama players in first round of latest 2021 NFL mock draft

Five Alabama players are projected to be drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft according to Ryan Wilson of CBS sports.

After a monstrous win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl on national television Alabama players were put in front of eyes across the country, including those of NFL fans and potential franchise front office workers.

The 2021 NFL draft is still months away, but it’s never too early to see where some of your favorite players could start their professional careers, or who your favorite franchise will draft.

In the latest mock draft by Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports, five Alabama players are selected in the first round.

Here’s where they are projected to land:

22. Miami Dolphins – DeVonta Smith, WR

He’s broken records within the Alabama program and the SEC. He is an offensive spark that is helping Mac Jones and the Crimson Tide have one of the highest scoring offenses in the country. A reunion with Tua Tagovailoa on the Dolphins would make for a scary combination.

2021 Mock Draft Roundup 1.0: Who experts are projecting Chargers to select

The Los Angeles Chargers have to upgrade both sides of the football.

The Chargers are currently projected to hold the No. 5 overall selection in the 2021 NFL draft after dropping to the Bills on Sunday.

Sitting at 3-8, all attention has been shifted to the upcoming offseason and what Los Angeles could do to bolster an already talented roster.

With that being said, let’s take a look at who draft experts are pairing with L.A. in the first-round along with the reasoning for it.

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler — CB Patrick Surtain, Alabama

“The Chargers would be wise to invest in the offensive line to protect their quarterback, but it might not be an option this early in the draft if Sewell is off the board. Instead, their focus moves to defense, where cornerback has been a consistent issue for them this season. Surtain isn’t going to run a blazing 40-yard dash time, but he can pattern match from press and find the football downfield.”

Pro Football Network’s Matt Valdovino — CB Patrick Surtain, Alabama

“Surtain lacks an elite physical profile, but he plays with patience and understands the game that allows him to cover the best. He is aggressive when the ball’s in the air and plays calm and collected, which keeps him from getting burnt. He’s big and long enough to handle even the most physical of receivers, and he provides some youth to the cornerback room.”

The Draft Network’s Brent Weissman — CB Caleb Farley, Virginia Tech

“While the Chargers desperately need help along their offensive line, no offensive line prospect is worth a top-five selection outside of Sewell. I considered going Ja’Marr Chase here and giving Justin Herbert another weapon on the outside, but I instead went with Virginia Tech’s cover man Caleb Farley. Farley has the length and athletic ability that teams covet in their corners and can step in right away and improve a defense that has struggled in 2020.”

NJ Advance Media’s Mike Kaye — CB Caleb Farley, Virginia Tech

“A cornerback run! Gus Bradley loves defensive backs with size, and Farley fits the bill at 6-foot-2 and 197 pounds.”

CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso — OT Rashawn Slater, Northwestern

“Some are going to view Slater as a guard in the NFL. The Chargers need those. But most important is the left tackle, protecting Justin Herbert on throws down the middle and to his right. Slater can be a fine tackle in the NFL. His 2019 film was more than enough evidence, and technique and balance is more important than sheer size at that position.”

CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards — EDGE Gregory Rousseau, Miami

“Melvin Ingram is scheduled to be a free agent after the season. In a year where the salary cap is expected to plummet, Los Angeles has the chance to add a young talent while creating some breathing room.”

7 Alabama players go first round in CBS Sports’ latest NFL mock draft

Seven alabama players are projected to be drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft, according to CBS Sports’ latest mock draft.

Though Alabama hasn’t played a game in almost three weeks, and one of the Crimson Tide’s best players is sidlined for the rest of the season, NFL scouts are still on the look-out to see which players would best help their team.

The 2021 NFL draft is still months away, and plenty can still happen throughout the rest of the College Football season to reshape a player’s draft profile, but it’s always good to see which players are projected to go where as everything currently stands.

Nick Saban is no stranger to producing NFL-ready talent, it seems he’s just as good at building up players to a first-round draft value than he is at winning National Championships.

Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports released his latest 2021 NFL mock draft, which includes seven member of the 2020 Crimson Tide squad.

Here’s where they stand in his mock draft:

30. Kansas City Chiefs – Dylan Moses, LB

Dylan Moses

Moses returned from a missed 2019 season after suffering from a torn ACL. Wilson claims Moses is one of the “best defensive players in this class,” which would certainly help the 2019 Super Bowl Champions.

PFN’s latest 2021 NFL mock draft includes 6 Alabama players in first round

Chris Spooner of pro football network included six alabama stars in the first round of his latest 2021 nfl mock draft.

Alabama is a name read all too often in the first round of NFL drafts, and the program is covering mock drafts all across the country.

Pro Football Network’s Chris Spooner put together his latest 2021 NFL mock draft and it includes a healthy amount of Crimson tide stars.

Here’s where Spooner predicts teams will select the Nick Saban products on night No. 1 of the draft:

25. Jacksonville Jaguars – Christian Barmore, DT

Barmore is a key piece to the Alabama defensive front. While most mock drafts had him being selected much sooner in the first round, a slow start to the Crimson Tide defense has led him to fall a bit, but Spooner still thinks Barmore is worth the pick and could help the Jaguars defense.

7 Alabama players in first round of latest CBS Sports 2021 NFL mock draft

Seven Alabama players are projected to go in the first round of CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson’s 2021 NFl mocl draft, including QB Mac Jones.

After defeating No. 3 Georgia, No. 2 Alabama is now the only SEC program to remian undefeated through four weeks. The Crimson Tide holds claim to three top-ten Heisman hopefuls and the program seems primed to pump out plenty of first-round talent into the 2021 NFL draft.

Nick Saban is certainly no stranger to having former players selected in the first round, and CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson seems to have taken notice. Wilson’s latest 2021 NFL mock draft includes seven Alabama stars in the first round.

Here’s where Wilson predicts the Crimson Tide products will land:

29. Pittsburgh Steelers – Alex Leatherwood, OT

Leatherwood has stepped up big time into a lead role on the Alabama offensive line. After losing Jedrick Wills to the 2020 NFL draft, Leatherwood is now the go-to tackle. Wilson calls this pick potentil “insurance” in case they are unable to resign Villanueva.

Matchup between Alabama, Georgia will feature handful of potential Chargers prospects

Nine prospects from the matchup between Alabama and Georgia could appeal to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The weekend is near which means that there will be plenty of football to soak in.

For Chargers fans, this would be a good time to catch some of the college football action on Saturday. One, the team is on their bye week. Two, a handful of them are already looking towards the future with Los Angeles sitting at 1-4.

One of the marquee matchups that’ll be featured is between Alabama and Georgia, which will start at 5:00 p.m. and will be televised on CBS. The showdown between the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs will have a large grip of players who the Bolts could have their eyes on.

Let’s take a look at who could be drawing the team’s attention:

Alabama

CB Patrick Surtain

Surtain is touted as one of the top corners in this year’s draft class. The 6-foot-2 and 205 pounder has been lockdown, only allowing three catches for 38 yards this season. Surtain is a long, smooth athlete who has impressive instincts and ball skills. He could afford to get more involved in the run game, but overall, he has the makeup of an All-Pro cornerback.

Projected Round: Top-10

OT Alex Leatherwood

Leatherwood, the 6-foot-5 and 313 pounder, has made 31 starts so far for the Crimson Tide with 13 of them coming at right guard in 2018. Leatherwood is an excellent pass protector who possesses great size, length and physicality to grow into a very reliable tackle or guard at the next level.

Projected Round: 1st

WR Jaylen Waddle

Speed kills. Waddle, the 5-foot-10 and 182 pounder, is a pass-catcher with elite phone booth quicks and legitimate breakaway speed to threaten a defense vertically. He can line up all across the formation as well as serve as a return man.

Projected Round: 1st

WR DeVonta Smith

While Smith may not have the track speed like Waddle, the 6-foot and 172 pounders plays with a well-rounded route tree, excellent footwork, and brings the separation tactics to thrive at the next level. Through four seasons, Smith has 2,425 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Projected Round: 1st-2nd

CB Josh Jobe

Surtain is the No. 1 corner but opposite of him is another player who has proven to put the clamps on receivers. Jobe, who leads the team in passes defensed (3), has good length and size at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, reactive athleticism and ball skills.

Projected Round: 3rd-4th

Georgia

CB Tyson Campbell

Campbell, the 6-foot-2 and 185 pounder, is a physically gifted and reactive athlete with great length that possesses speed, excellent closing speed and instincts. Through three games, he has three passes defensed.

Projected Round: 1st-2nd

CB Eric Stokes

Stokes has been a ball magnet for the Bulldogs, totaling three interceptions and four passes defensed through the first three games. He now has 18 passes defended over his first two seasons. The 6-foot-1 and 185 pounder has the prototypical build for the position with speed, physicality and plus coverage ability.

Projected Round: 2nd

CB DJ Daniel

Overlooked due to the presences of Campbell and Stokes, Daniel, the 6-foot and 182 pounder, is a sub-package ace who is quick and agile with very good mirroring skills. In 2019, the JUCO transfer had eight passes defensed.

Projected Round: 2nd-3rd

G Ben Cleveland

Cleveland’s continuity has helped a partly revamped offensive line after three were drafted in this past draft. The 6-foot-6 and 342 pounder is a solid all-around interior lineman with proven durability and experience who is a strong blocker in the run game and has good awareness in pass protection. Most recently, Cleveland helped allow Georgia’s running backs to go for 202 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 45 carries last weekend against Auburn.

Projected Round: 3rd-4th

247Sports 2021 NFL mock draft predicts 4 Alabama players in first round

247Sports Brad Crawford released his latest mock draft for the 2021 NFL draft. In it is four Alabama stars on both sides of the ball.

Week 3 of College Football is in the books and certain players on this 2020 Alabama team are primed to be first-round draftees.

247Sports’ Brad Crawford posted his latest 2021 NFL mock draft that includes four Alabama players.

There’s plenty of time left in the 2020 NFL season for the draft order to chnange, as is there plenty of games left to play in the college football season for players’ draft value to fluctuate.

As of now, here’s where Crawford believes these Crimson Tide stars will begin their professional careers:

30. Baltimore Ravens – DeVonta Smith, WR

Kent Gidley via USA TODAY Sports

DeVonta Smith was a key offensive contributor in 2019. However, with big names from Alabama, such as Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III, being a part of a bigger class of high-profile wide receivers, it was probably in Smith’s best interest to stay for one more season and enter a less-crowded 2021 draft class.
