Ravens HC John Harbaugh gives injury updates on OT Ronnie Stanley, S Kyle Hamilton

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh gave injury updates for offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley and safety Kyle Hamilton

The Baltimore Ravens extended their winning streak to four games after beating the Carolina Panther 13-3 in Week 12 of the 2022 season. However, in the victory the lost two players to injury in offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley and safety Kyle Hamilton, who left the contest with ankle and knee injuries respectively.

Head coach John Harbaugh  spoke to the media during his normal press conference on Monday, and gave positive updates on both Stanley and Hamilton, saying that they were trending in the right direction. Although not a lot is known about either injury at the moment, Harbaugh’s comments offer some hope.

“Yes, Kyle [Hamilton] and Ronnie [Stanley], we don’t have the final word on those things yet, but I would say it’s definitely trending in the right direction based on what we know so far. Ronnie still has an MRI to get, so we’ll find out the final on that, but it was trending really well last night and this morning. And Kyle, the same thing. Kyle, the X-rays looked good, so it’s trending in the right way. His knee is stable and all those kinds of things.”

Losing Stanley would be a significant loss to the offensive line, no matter if Patrick Mekari plays well. Stanley has been playing incredible football since returning from missing almost two seasons with a prior ankle injury. Hamilton has been playing great the last few games and his confidence is getting better each and every game.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh shares thoughts on performance of OT Ronnie Stanley in Week 6 vs. Giants

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh shared his thoughts on how he believes offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley performed in Week 6

The Baltimore Ravens lost to the New York Giants 24-20 on Sunday in Week 6 of the 2022 season  In the loss, offensive tackle Morgan Moses got hurt in the second quarter and missed the rest of the game. Meanwhile Ronnie Stanley, who was splitting time with Patrick Mekari as he continues to be on a pitch count, ended up playing the rest of the game at left tackle while Mekari moved over to the right tackle spot to replace Moses.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was asked about Ronnie Stanley’s play against the Giants, and shared his thoughts on how the All-Pro performed in Week 6. He mentioned that he believes Stanley did “really well”, playing an “excellent game”.

“He did really well. Ronnie [Stanley] played an excellent game. Pat [Mekari] played a really good game on the right side, too, but that was just Ronnie wanting to go in there and do it. That’s how he felt about it, and when that happened, he said, ‘Hey, I’m doing it. I’m going to go do it.’ I’m not surprised; I wouldn’t say I expected it, but I wasn’t surprised at all when I saw him saying he was going back out there. Ronnie had a really excellent game; he played good football. The whole offensive line really played well. There are things to clean up, like we talked about, but generally speaking, we’re blocking people very well.”

In the limited amount of snaps that Stanley has played this season, it looks like he’s well on his way to being completely back to the player that he was before the injury. As the veteran begins to get more and more reps, it will help build cohesion on the unit and make the offense even better when everyone is back to on the field.

The Baltimore Ravens were driving late in the second quarter when offensive tackle Morgan Moses injured his heel.  Quarterback Lamar Jackson hit tight end Mark Andrews for an 18-yard reception when Moses went down with his injury.

Following Moses leaving the game, he was deemed questionable to return by the team with the heel injury. He was carted off of the field, but at the beginning of the second half he was seen back on the sideline in uniform.

For the last few weeks, the Ravens have been rotating Ronnie Stanley and Patrick Mekari at the left tackle position.  Stanley has been working his way back into playing shape after missing nearly two years following ankle surgeries. Moses missing any amount of time would expend their depth even further, with Mekari and rookie Daneil Faalele being relied upon in bigger roles.

Ravens coaches continue to give positive updates on OT Ronnie Stanley

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh talks about Ronnie Stanley’s progress heading into Week 4.

The Baltimore Ravens come into Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills with a 2-1 record, coming off of a Week 3 win against the New England Patriots. There has been plenty of talk surrounding the health of offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley and when he’ll make his return, and all indications point to him being back on the field soon, whether it’s in Week 4 or in the near future.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh spoke about Stanley, and weighed in on what things will be taken into account when determining when Stanley will be able to get back on the field. He talked about how both what the team sees and how the offensive tackle feels are both contributing factors.

“Yes, it’s really just what we see, certainly, and what he feels. Those are the two things that both have to be taken into account. Ronnie [Stanley] is not going to want to go out there, and we’re not going to want him to go out there, if he doesn’t feel like he’s going to be good, if he’s [not] going to be ready to go. It’s a priority to go out there and be at his best when he comes back. At the same time, he’s going to have to jump in at some point, so it could be this week. We’ll just have to see…”

Offensive coordinator Greg Roman also shared his thoughts on Stanley and how he looks on the practice field.

“Ronnie [Stanley] is looking good. I really think he’s made some great strides. He’s out there – looks explosive. I mean, everybody is joking with him that he’s got fresh legs. But he’s looking explosive [and] as good as I’ve seen him look. He hasn’t played ball in about two years, though, so they’ll definitely be an acclimation period for him, which we’re going through now. And I love where he’s at. I was really encouraged by how he’s looking. I’d say arrow up all the way.”

The Ravens’ offensive line will be a better unit when Stanley gets back. All signs are pointing to some form of a return soon, and while the team would benefit from having him on the field in Week 4 against Buffalo, both sides need to be 100% sure that he’s good to go.

The Ravens released their first injury report of the week on Wednesday ahead of their Week 4 matchup with the Bills

The Baltimore Ravens will finish their tour of playing AFC East opponents on Sunday when the team welcomes the Buffalo Bills into M&T Bank Stadium in Week 4. The matchup could arguably be the toughest opponent for the Ravens during the 2022 season.

On Wednesday, Baltimore released their first injury report ahead of the Week 4 matchup with the Bills. The report featured nine players with most of them not practicing, including outside linebacker Justin Houston, offensive tackle Patrick Mekari and defensive lineman Michael Pierce, each of which left Week 3 against the Patriots with injuries.

Headlining the list is offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle) who practiced in full for the first time. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Stanley could possibly suit up on Sunday, which would be his first game since Week 1 of 2021.

The only other player who practiced in full on Wednesday was wide receiver James Proche II (groin). Running back J.K. Dobbins (chest), who made his 2022 season debut on Sunday, was limited in practice.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh discusses performance of OT Daniel Faalele in Week 3 vs. Patriots

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh talked about offensive tackle Daniel Faalele’s performance in Week 3

The Baltimore Ravens went into New England and won 37-26 in Week 3 of the 2022 season. They improved their record to 2-1 on the year, but it didn’t come without some losses from an injury perspective. Offensive lineman Patrick Mekari suffered an ankle injury, and was replaced by rookie Daniel Faalele at left tackle.

He ended up holding his own after only playing right tackle in college at the University of Minnesota. When Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh spoke to the media about Faalele stepping up during the game, he praised Faalele for settling and getting his confidence in the second half.

“Right, [that’s] probably a really good point you’re making. As the game went on, he really settled in. He never played left tackle in a game before in his life. So, to go out there and get a feel … The two rushers they had, obviously, coming off the edges, were both very good football players. It just seemed to me that once he kind of got settled down … A loud stadium, silent count – [he] really hadn’t been practicing the silent count all week with the ‘ones’ – once he kind of got the timing of that down and got a feel for the speed of the game, he seemed to get his confidence into the second half where I think he felt like he belonged out there and started playing really well. So, that was a big plus for us. The whole offensive line played extremely well, and he’s kind of a good example of that.”

It’s unclear if Faalele will have to start again in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills, but he showed plenty of potential over the course of his snaps in Week 3. The team could potentially get back fellow offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley for their upcoming matchup, which would be a big get for a Buffalo team that has outside linebacker Von Miller.
