Ten players who could have bigger roles for Ravens in 2024

We’re looking at ten players who could have bigger roles for the Baltimore Ravens in 2024

The Ravens are amid a Super Bowl window, but there are huge decisions to make regarding All-Pros Justin Madubuike and Patrick Queen.

There are numerous free agents at the wide receiver and cornerback positions, while several players could be released for salary cap purposes.

Where things currently stand, Baltimore is expected to have roughly $7,328,828 in cap space via OverTheCap, the 20th most in the NFL.

That number could grow if the team opts to part ways with some expensive contracts (perhaps Ronnie Stanley or Marlon Humphrey.

Currently, the Ravens have 48 players under contract for the 2024 season, and we’re looking at ten contributors who could have more prominent roles.

Ravens GM Eric DeCosta discussed addressing CB position after the 2023 draft

Ravens GM Eric DeCosta talked about addressing the cornerback position after the 2023 NFL draft

Cornerback is one of the most important positions for the Baltimore Ravens, and they’ve shown it over the course of their franchise history. The team addressed that area of their roster in this weekend’s NFL draft by selecting Stanford’s Kyu Blu Kelly in the fifth round, but that doesn’t mean that they are done adding players.

There are plenty of free agent cornerbacks still available, including former Ravens star Marcus Peters. When asked about the cornerback position, including bringing back Marcus Peters, Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta was honest about the makeup of the roster.

“As we’ve said, the roster is never set. I think what you’ll see is in the coming weeks, there are a lot of potential moves for us to make: free agents, guys that we’ve had, guys that we like who are available. The other point I think – which is a fair point to make as well – is we drafted two young corners last year, and both guys kind of wrestled with injuries this past year. [Jalyn] Armour-Davis and [Damarion] Williams, both. We feel the same way – if those guys were in this year’s Draft, we probably would have drafted them in the same spot, and they’re good, young players. That being said, would we like to potentially add a veteran corner? Yes, I’m sure we would. It’s an important position. What we’ve seen is you can never have enough good corners to start the season and throughout the season. That’s a fast way to get beat, is to not have enough corners on the field.”

Ravens announce inactives for Week 12 matchup vs. Jaguars

The Baltimore Ravens announced the inactive players for Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Baltimore Ravens are set to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 12 of the 2022 season. The team is looking to improve to 8-3 and stay in first place in the AFC North division while extending their winning streak to five games.

Before the contest, Baltimore announced their inactives for the game, which include safety Kyle Hamilton, running back Mike Davis, inside linebacker Josh Bynes, tight end Charlie Kolar, and outside linebacker David Ojabo.  Head coach John Harbaugh mentioned throughout the week that Hamilton would be “day to day” after getting injured last Sunday, but it didn’t seem likely for him to play due to not practicing all week.

Offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, tight end Isaiah Likely, and cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis were already ruled out for the Ravens beforehand, as they were announced before traveling with the team.

Rookie linebacker David Ojabo is once again inactive.  He’s been added to the 53-man roster, but still hasn’t had the opportunity to make his Ravens debut.  I’m sure they are doing everything they can to not rush him back, but this week is the best week to activate him and play him against the Jaguars in sunny Florida.

Ravens release final injury report for Week 12 matchup vs. Jaguars

The Ravens released final injury report for Week 12 against the Jaguars

The Baltimore Ravens will travel to Florida to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 12. The trip will give them a chance to enjoy some warmth as opposed to the cold of Maryland, but regardless of weather, they’ll look to extend their winning streak to five games.

The final injury report of the week was released by the team, and has cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis and Ronnie Stanley as the only two players listed as out before game time. Baltimore head John Harbaugh mentioned that Stanley likely wasn’t going to make the game against Jacksonville after Friday’s practice.

Wide receiver Devin Duvernay and tight end Isaiah Likely popped up on the list for the first time this week and are listed as questionable. Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson returned to practice after missing Thursday’s practice with a hamstring injury, which is a good thing for a depleted wide receiver room that now has questions about Duvernay’s health.

Ravens release final injury report for Week 11 matchup vs. Panthers

The Ravens released the final injury report for Week 11 at home against the Panthers

The Baltimore Ravens are set to face off against the Carolina Panthers in Week 11 as they look to extend their winning streak to four games and improve their record to 7-3 on the year. They’ll be looking to get more guys back healthy, and could see a few key players return on Sunday.

The final injury report was announced for Week 11 for Baltimore, with only quarterback Lamar Jackson being the newest addition to the list. Head coach John Harbaugh said that the quarterback would be ready to play on Sunday, as it wasn’t serious.

Offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley and outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul were given veteran rest days, while tight end Mark Andrews went through a full practice. It remains to be seen if cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis and running back Gus Edwards will play in the contest.

The offense should be in good shape if Andrews and Edwards are able to return, but the team isn’t likely to rush either back and risk further injury. Even if neither can suit up, the team has good depth at both tight end and running back.

Ravens release second injury report for Week 11 matchup vs. Panthers

The Ravens released their second injury report for Week 11 against the Carolina Panthers

The Baltimore Ravens will face off against the Carolina Panthers in Week 11 of the 2022 season. Baltimore comes into the contest at 6-3 coming off of their bye week, while Carolina enters at 3-7 after a big Week 10 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

The Ravens released the second injury report for Week 11, with a much shorter list than many have become accustomed to.  The bad news however, is that the two most important players on the report are still limited in practice in running back Gus Edwards and tight end Mark Andrews.

Andrews and Edwards have both been limited this week, but it’s better than not practicing at all.  Outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul has been a full participant in practice this week, so all looks good for him to be back on Sunday.

It’s not often that you seen an injury report this small, especially so late in an NFL season. The Ravens are in a much better spot this season compared to last, and many are hoping they can continue to get players back from injury without losing any more.

On Baltimore’s final injury report on Friday, the team announced that running back J.K. Dobbins (knee) would miss Week 7. The following day the team announced that Dobbins was placed on injured reserve and that running back Gus Edwards would return off the physically unable to perform list.
