Stanford statistical leaders through 11 games

The Irish can’t lose to this team, right?

Stanford is trying to salvage something out of its season. Even its win over Coach Prime and Colorado has become lessened by the fact that Buffaloes turned out not to be much better than the Cardinal. A victory over Notre Dame would by far be the signature of their season. That won’t be easy though.

There are a few talented players on the Cardinal, but they only can do so much to make up for their shortcomings. For instance, the offense lives off the pass to the point where the quarterbacks actually are the top rushers. For our purposes though, we’re discounting them in that category for this listicle. That alone should speak volumes about the Cardinal.

It’s no surprise that a team with this many shortcomings has dragged the Irish to the dying Pac-12 Network for its final live football game. If it somehow pulls off the upset, here are the players most likely to factor in:

Hopefully, these players can end the regular season on a high note.

Notre Dame has one game left in the regular season against Stanford. Good luck finding a way to watch it on the Pac-12 Network, but that’s a topic for another day. Right now, let’s focus on who is most likely to help the Irish beat the Cardinal.

Statistically, here’s who is likely to factor in whether the Irish can get revenge for last year’s defeat in South Bend:

Social media reacts to Notre Dame relegation to Pac-12 Network

How do you plan on watching this game?

No, there won’t be a lot at stake when Notre Dame visits Stanford to wrap up the 2023 season. But that doesn’t make the decision to relegate this contest to the fringe and dying Pac-12 Network any easier to fathom. Such is the case when you’ve lost a couple of games you should have won.

Taking away the humiliation of being stuck on a network hardly anyone living anywhere near Notre Dame is likely to watch, those same people most likely don’t even get the station. That means Irish fans are going to have go out of their way to figure out how to watch the regular-season finale. Whether that means shelling out extra money or having to bum off someone else, it’s not great to be put in this situation.

Social media was very opinionated about this turn of events. Here are some of the best tweets that were sent out about it:

Notre Dame-Stanford kickoff time, TV details announced

Good luck finding it!

Notre Dame’s 2023 regular season finale will be one for the history books.

It takes place at Stanford and with the Cardinal just 3-7 on the year, they won’t qualify to play in a bowl game.  In their final year in the Pac 12 that means their season-finale against Notre Dame will be their final as a member of the conference.

There is a little bit more history to add to the game now, too.  It was announced Monday that next Saturday’s game will kickoff at 7 p.m. ET and air on the Pac-12 Network.

It will be the first and only time Notre Dame appears on Pac-12 Network as it will be the final live football game the network airs.  The network has long been infamously difficult to find for even locals and is just part of the reason the conference is headed to meet its maker at season’s end.

You’ve got to imagine that had Notre Dame handled business against Clemson or Louisville this year and were playing for a spot in a New Year’s Six bowl game that one of the other networks would have picked this one up.

It does however feel oddly fitting that this is the way the 2023 season will end for Notre Dame.
