Watch: Ohio State’s Tristan Gebbia finds Noah Rogers for a long touchdown

Another freshman WR with a score #GoBucks

There isn’t just one star in [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag]’s 2023 wide receiver recruiting class, there’s multiple. Carnell Tate already showed his ability and it was [autotag]Noah Rogers[/autotag] turn to show what he could do.

Although it was late in the game, the reps still mattered. Transfer quarterback [autotag]Tristan Gebbia[/autotag] found Rogers on a slant to his right, and the early enrolling freshman did the rest.

Rogers eluded multiple defenders and while he almost fumbled, he managed to find the end zone. The receiver was ranked just a little higher than Tate, as the eight-best player at his position and 53rd overall according to the 247Sports composite.

Check out his juggling touchdown below.

Watch: Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord finds Carnell Tate for a touchdown

The freshman hype is real for Tate #GoBucks

The hype surrounding [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] early enrolling freshman [autotag]Carnell Tate[/autotag] has been building all spring.

For the majority of the Scarlet and Gray spring game, Tate was held in check. That ended during the third quarter when presumed starting quarterback [autotag]Kyle McCord[/autotag] found Tate on a pretty throw into the end zone for the first score through the air.

It was a great finish for Tate’s first spring, one that could very well vaunt him into a solid role during the season. The 6-foot, 2-inch and 180-pound receiver was rated ninth best at his position and 59th overall according to the 247Sports composite.

Watch: Ohio State legend Archie Griffin scores touchdown in spring game

The Buckeye legend scores again! #GoBucks

The only two-time Heisman Trophy winner hails from [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag], legend [autotag]Archie Griffin[/autotag].

The College Football Hall of Famer who was the former president and CEO of OSU’s alumni association received a unique opportunity during the Scarlet and Gray game: carrying the ball.

Griffin took a handoff and went down the right sideline and ended up scoring a touchdown for the Scarlet squad. The points counted and a large contingent of current Buckeyes went over to congratulate the legend.

It was a special moment for Griffin and the Buckeyes as they honored him during the spring game. Check out his touchdown run below.

Owner of “Mustard’s Last Stand” hot dog store in Evantston takes a jab at Ohio State fans

Really? #GoBucks

Most [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] fans know that [autotag]Northwestern[/autotag] has released plans for a complete remodel of Ryan Field. There has yet to be an agreement, mostly due to a holdup between Evanston residents and the university.

The Wall Street Journal took a look into the issues between the two parties and that somehow resulted in one local business owner dragging Ohio State fans through the mud. The WSJ asked some residents exactly what they were concerned about and Buckeye fans came to mind.

Steve Starkman, co-owner of the famed “Mustard’s Last Stand” hotdog shop specifically, isn’t a fan of the Buckeye faithful apparently. “Ohio State fans are the only problem. They have a monster following, and they think the world is their bathroom,” Starkman told the Wall Street Journal.

Starkman said the exaggerations of opposing fans urinating on lawns and bushes only happen after games in which the Wildcats host Ohio State fans, and he went on to praise the behavior of other Big Ten schools’ fans.

Personally, living in the Chicago suburbs, anytime the Buckeyes come close, I go to the game. Not once this year or any year previously visiting Ryan Field, did I see any of this behavior.

What I did see was a boom in business, the stadium actually selling out and generating revenue for their city and football program. Sorry, Evanston residents, you just can’t see the benefit of having a Division 1 football program in your backyard and your worry about noise on a Saturday afternoon is absurd.

Also, seeing how the Buckeyes are in the East Division and Northwestern in the West Division, OSU has only traveled to Evanston a handful of times since the divisions were formed. It seems a bit like sour grapes blaming all of this discontent between Evanston and Northwestern on bad behavior for a team that’s made just three trips to Ryan Field since 2013.

For what it’s worth, according to the story, Ohio State declined to comment on the accusations but it’s hard to imagine that mixing opposing fans, beer, and an American football game would resut in only Buckeye fans being the outlier here. We’ve all been to our fair share of sporting events and all fanbases have their unruly members that make others look bad.

But yeah, nice try.

Videos of Ohio State football’s second spring practice of 2023

Day two was just as exciting as day one #GoBucks

Earlier, we took a look at a clip that gives us some hope for the [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] defensive back group.

Now, let’s just enjoy the fact that the Buckeyes are constantly back on the field over the course of the next 5 weeks or so. Spring always brings plenty of hope and that is happening for head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] and his program.

Like every team in college football, there is plenty of turnover from year to year and what we saw on the field last fall might be different from what we will see this fall.

Check out below some of the videos and pictures that were shared on Twitter after Ohio State’s second spring practice.

Watch: Clips from Ohio State football’s first spring practice

The Buckeyes are baaaaaack #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] football is officially back! Even though today was the start of friendly fire for the next month plus, it’s still great to see the scarlet and gray running around the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility.

There are plenty of jobs up for grabs, which isn’t similar to most spring settings in Columbus, and head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] has some big-time spots to fill.

We will find out much more as the LiFEsports Spring Game concludes the action, but there are plenty of opportunities like Tuesday to get a glimpse of our beloved Buckeyes.

Check out below the various videos that were shared on Twitter of Ohio State’s first spring practice.

Five Ohio State position battles that will have our attention during spring practice

Which battles have your attention? #GoBucks

In Columbus, [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] doesn’t rebuild, it reloads.

This season will be a big time test for that mantra because there are a great many big holes to fill after multiple Buckeye stars left early for the NFL.

With OSU’s spring practice set to begin March 7, plenty of questions regarding those holes are being asked. Head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] has a lot on his plate.

Over the course of the 14 practices spanning a little over a month, culminating with the 15, or as we know it, the LiFEs ports Spring Game, the hope is some of those questions will be answered.

Not all of them well but here are the five position battles that we will be keeping an eye on during this spring.

ESPN questions if Ohio State can rise back to the top of the Big Ten in 2023

Can Ohio State regain its hold on the conference in 2023? #GoBucks

It’s been two years since [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] won the [autotag]Big Ten[/autotag], their rival winning both The Game and then the conference crown. Even though the Buckeyes made the [autotag]College Football Playoff[/autotag], for many, the season was still a disappointment.

Beating TTUN and winning the Big Ten are boxes that weren’t checked off for [autotag]C.J. Stroud[/autotag] and his teammates. As he awaits to know where his next playing destination is, more on that here, ESPN’s Heather Dinich is pondering if Ohio State can reassert itself as the conference’s best (insider)

The biggest question according to Dinich is the combination of play-calling and starting quarterback. With the elevation of [autotag]Brian Hartline[/autotag] to offensive coordinator and head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] seemingly giving up play-calling, those are “the team’s biggest unknowns this offseason.”

It would be hard to question Dinich’s logic, as those are two big glaring issues that Ohio State must solve to regain the seat atop the conference. Another concern, for many including myself, is the defense. She sees this is as a problem as well, saying “the Buckeyes must also eliminate giving up big plays,” on that side of the ball.

Dinich hit this right on the head, these are the biggest questions surrounding the program at the moment. They can solve some of the offensive problems during the spring but we won’t know if the defense will be fixed until a few games into the season.

If Ohio State can clean up these two aspects of the team, they could very well be back to winning the Big Ten.

Do you still believe in Ohio State wide receiver Julian Fleming? 247Sports does

The former 5-star still can make his Buckeye mark #GoBucks

When Julian Fleming signed with [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] in the 2020 cycle, it was looked at as a gigantic recruiting win for the Buckeyes. The Pennsylvania native was ranked as the 3rd overall player in the class and top wide receiver in the nation.

Unfortunately for Fleming, his time in Columbus has been a bit of a disappointment. It’s not really due to his play, injuries have derailed him from getting onto the field.

This past season, his junior year, Fleming was finally about to stay away from the trainers and put up solid numbers behind [autotag]Marvin Harrison Jr.[/autotag] and [autotag]Emeka Egbuka[/autotag]. He caught 34 passes for 533 yards with six touchdowns.

Fleming’s production tailed off in the second half of the season, but finished strong with 5 receptions for 71 yards against Georgia. One could make the argument that since he had never played a full season of college football, his body wore down a bit.

That glimpse of what he could be has brought out some believers in his talent, specifically 247Sports Brian Dohn who named Fleming as a former highly-rated recruit that he still believes in.

Dohn thinks that Fleming “could be a player whose best and most productive days may be as a professional,” and it’s hard to argue against that. Count me in the camp that thinks that the former 5-star prospect still can make a mark for Ohio State, even though he’s playing with two 1,000 yard receivers.

New offensive coordinator Brian Hartline declared recently that the Buckeyes have three first round receivers on the team and he could very well be talking about Fleming being the other.

Watch: Ohio State football posts a series of winter workout videos and pictures

The Buckeyes are getting ready for next season #GoBucks

There is no Ohio State football right now, but that doesn’t mean that the team isn’t working hard at its craft. This is the time when players make year-over-year improvements behind the scenes.

It all begins in the weight room and conditioning drills. We really only see the hard work that the players put in on Saturdays, but the Ohio State football Twitter account has us covered in the meantime.

The creative media team at Ohio State recently give us a glimpse of what winter conditioning with strength and conditioning coach [autotag]Mickey Mariotti[/autotag] is like. Check out the videos and photos below of the Buckeyes working hard this offseason.
