Former Ohio State pitcher and ESPN staffer Kyle Brown abruptly passes away at age 42

R.I.P. Kyle #GoBucks

Former [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] pitcher and current ESPN director [autotag]Kyle Brown[/autotag] passed away after suffering a medical emergency on Saturday.

Brown was working for ESPN at the NCAA baseball super regional in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was just 42. Brown had a wife and four children according to a release from ESPN.

It’s a sad day for Buckeye nation, when one of their own was taken far too early in life. Personally, Brown and I were teammates at Ohio State for two seasons and I have very fond memories of him.

He was a key member of the 2003 Ohio State team that went 44-21, won the Big Ten Tournament, swept the Auburn regional, and eventually lost in the super regionals to Southwest Missouri State.

You will be missed, Kyle. R.I.P.

BOOM! Ohio State gets a commitment from transfer SEC defensive tackle

The rumors were true and finish with a BOOM! #GoBucks

The Ole Miss to [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] transfer pipeline this offseason has been flowing.

During the initial transfer period, the Buckeyes landed cornerback Davison Igbinosun, who will play an integral role this fall.

Today, another former member of the Rebels is following Igbinosun, defensive tackle [autotag]Tywone Malone[/autotag]. Earlier today the buzz was that the 6-foot, 4-inch, 305-pound defensive lineman was trending to Columbus. Turns out those rumors were true.

What remains to be known is if Malone will play baseball for the Buckeyes, as he did for the Rebels. He only played in a few games over the last two years but showed big-time power. Three of his five hits went over the fence.

Like on the diamond, Malone didn’t see the field much for the Rebels in two seasons registering just 13 tackles and 2 sacks. He was a top prospect coming out of high school, the Buckeyes offered him then as well.

Malone now lands in Columbus with the expectation that he will add some depth to the defensive tackle unit. [autotag]Mike Hall Jr[/autotag]., [autotag]Ty Hamilton[/autotag] and [autotag]Tyleik Williams[/autotag] all should be contributors this fall barring injuries. You can now add Malone to that list as the Buckeyes just got a bit deeper.

Ohio State Baseball gets a commit from instate hard-throwing pitcher

The baseball Buckeyes get a verbal from instate high-level pitcher #GoBucks

The [autotag]Ohio State Baseball[/autotag] team has found a potential ace and they didn’t need to look far. [autotag]North Royalton[/autotag] pitcher [autotag]Jake Michalak[/autotag] committed to first-year head coach [autotag]Bill Mosiello[/autotag] today.

Michalak has a fastball that sits in the lower 90’s, with a good slider as well. He has a projectable frame, standing 6 feet, 3 inches, and 200 pounds. Michalak should add on a few more MPH to his fastball over the course of his Buckeye career which should make him that much better.

The 2023 recruiting class now has 13 commits, with seven of them being pitchers. It seems like Mosiello is making a concerted effort to strengthen the Ohio State presence on the bump.

The Buckeyes are a little over a month away from their opening series with Connecticut in Florida. Like many Midwestern baseball teams, all of their early games will be played in warm-weather states, until they begin their first home series in the middle of March.
