4-star Oregon target OT Miles McVay announces college commitment

4-star OT Miles McVay, one of the top uncommitted OL on the board, made his college commitment on Thursday.

In terms of both size and stature, one of the biggest offensive linemen in the 2023 recruiting class is off the board.

4-star offensive tackle Miles McVay announced Thursday evening that he would be committing to the Alabama Crimson Tide, choosing Nick Saban over Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks.

For a while, it looked as if McVay was going to come to Eugene, with the Ducks building a strong lead in his recruitment earlier this spring. However, Alabama closed hard and was able to get him to commit in the long run.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and tipping the scales at 358-pounds, McVay ranks as the No. 27 OL in the 2023 class, and No. 186 overall player in the nation.

4-star DL A’mauri Washington sets commitment date; Oregon favored to land blue-chip prospect

The Ducks are in line to land another blue-chip prospect on the DL. We will find out when he announces in September.

The defensive line has absolutely turned into a strength for the Oregon Ducks in the past decade. With DeForest Buckner, Arik Armstead, Dion Jordan and Kayvon Thibodeaux, Eugene has been a breeding ground for NFL talent. Even this season, the Ducks are expecting DJ Johnson and Brandon Dorlus to step up and wreak havoc in the trenches.

Going forward, it doesn’t look like anything will change either. The Ducks are favored to land four-star defensive lineman A’mauri Washington, one of the top players in the state of Arizona. Washington, who ranks No. 37 among defensive linemen and No. 162 overall in the 2023 class is set to announce his commitment on Sept. 6. He is down to four schools; the Ducks are listed alongside Florida, Oklahoma and LSU.

Washington has one crystal ball prediction on 247Sports, and it’s in favor of the Ducks.

5-star Mookie Cook sets announcement date; Ducks back in the driver’s seat

5-star Mookie Cook is set to make an “announcement” later this week. Will it be that he’s coming back to the Oregon Ducks?

At one point earlier in the summer, it looked like Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks fumbled what was one of the biggest recruiting wins the program had seen in a long time.

5-star SF Mookie Cook, the No. 4 player in the 2023 class, announced his de-commitment from the Ducks, and plummeted Oregon’s recruiting ranking.

However, the tides have since turned. 5-star PF Kwame Evans committed to the Ducks last week, and Cook has since received more predictions on 247Sports to come back to Eugene and join Altman’s squad. On Tuesday, Cook pointed to the fact that he will be making an announcement this coming Friday.

Will Cook announce that he is coming back to Oregon? Everything seems to be pointing in that direction. We’ll have to wait and find out.

4-star Oregon target RB Dylan Edwards announces commitment

The Ducks were in the mix until the end, but ultimately couldn’t land 4-star RB Dylan Edwards.

The recruitment of Dylan Edwards has been a rollercoaster ride.

Earlier this summer, the 4-star running back out of Kansas announced his decision to stay home and commit to the Kansas State Wildcats. About a month later, though, Edwards announced his de-commitment a couple of days after receiving an offer from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Now, Edwards appears ready to make his decision, which we can assume will be final. Edwards announced on Saturday that he would be committing to Notre Dame and joining one of the top recruiting classes in the nation.

It came down to three schools, and the Oregon Ducks were certainly in the mix until the end. Ultimately, though, Carlos Locklyn wasn’t able to pry away Edwards, who is ranked as the No. 19 RB and No. 324 overall player in the 2023 class.

The Ducks have 4-star RB Dante Dowdell already in the 2023 class but would love to add one more blue-chip player to the mix down the road.

Ducks take driver’s seat in recruitment for 3-star LB Jerry Mixon; commitment date set

The Oregon Ducks are the new favorite to land 3-star linebacker Jerry Mixon, who will announce a date for his commitment.

As we ramp up for the 2022 college football season with fall camp starting across the nation, that doesn’t mean that recruiting has taken a complete back seat just yet. Over the next month, we can expect to see a number of commitments as high school players looking to announce their decisions and get that out of the way before they start their own senior years of ball.

For the Oregon Ducks, this is turning out to be a good thing so far. Recently, the Ducks picked up a few Crystal Ball predictions on 247Sports to land 3-star linebacker Jerry Mixon, a talented player out of California.

Mixon is rated by 247Sports as the No. 56 LB in the 2023 class, and No. 715 overall in the nation. He announced that his final commitment decision will come on August 12 at 2:30 PT, live on the 247Sports Youtube Channel.

Where Oregon’s Dante Moore ranks among recruiting NIL valuations in 2023 class

Where does Dante Moore stack up when it comes to NIL valuation in the 2023 class? How much money does he stand to earn in Eugene?

In the new landscape of college football that came to bear once the rules on name, image and likeness were changed, an athlete is no longer looked at simply on the basis of what production he can bring on the field.

That athlete also has a chance to produce off of the field as well.

In the world of NIL, college athletes are allowed to get paid to promote themselves and products. Through collectives that have popped up around the nation, sponsors are pouring money into the college ranks and creating relationships with athletes. In turn, young players are starting to create brands and finding new ways to market themselves.

But who is worth what, and how much has that question had an impact on the college football recruiting world?

The answer to the latter half of that question is simple — a lot.

To answer the first part, though, we wanted to use the On3 NIL valuation tool. Based on an algorithm, On3 uses categories of performance, influence and exposure to try to create a dollar figure for incoming and existing college athletes, giving them a sense of how much money they can make through NIL deals. It isn’t a tracker of NIL deals that a player has already signed, but rather an estimate for how much they might be worth.

Some of the numbers seem lower than you might think, especially if you consider a few of the massive NIL deals that have reportedly been signed over the past year, some of which are upward of $7 million or more.

For Oregon Duck fans, where does five-star quarterback commit Dante Moore stand, and how much money does he stand to gain during his time in Eugene? The On3 valuation rankings give us a good sense:

Oregon Ducks secure commitment from 3-star defensive line prospect

The Oregon Ducks picked up a commitment from class of 2023 3-star defensive tackle My’Keil Gardner from Peoria, Arizona on Wednesday.

The Oregon Ducks secured yet another big win on the recruiting trail, this time nailing down a commitment from 3-star defensive lineman My’Keil Gardner out of Peoria, Arizona.

Gardner took an official visit to Eugene back on June 24, and held offers from over 20 different programs – including USC, UCLA, Wisconsin, Texas, Michigan, Iowa, Iowa State, Cal, Nebraska, and Washington State.

Gardner is a six-foot-two, 275 pound defensive tackle from Liberty High School in Arizona. He is ranked No. 494 nationally in the class of 2023, per 247Sports, coming in as the No. 59 ranked defensive lineman and No. 11 ranked prospect in the state of Arizona.

Gardner visited Eugene multiple times in addition to his official visit, and he was in attendance at Oregon’s spring game in April – coming away from it with really positive things to say about the program and players.

“My Oregon visit was great,” Gardner said. “Always love my visits to Eugene I didn’t think it could top my first one and it did. Highlights for me was actually talking and bonding with the team, meeting the players and talking about just everything laughing and being guys.”

Dan Lanning and the Ducks continue to secure commitments from high level players across the entire country, and Gardner will factor into a solid group of defensive linemen when he reaches campus in 2023.

Oregon’s place in national recruiting rankings after 5-star Kwame Evans’ commitment

Oregon ranked in the 30’s nationally before the addition of 5-star Kwame Evans. It’s safe to say that ranking has changed drastically now.

It was a great day for Dana Altman following a tough month of July.

After both 5-star PG Dior Johnson and 5-star SF Mookie Cook decommitted from the Oregon Ducks over a month ago, Altman turned things around and picked up a commitment from 5-star PF Kwame Evans, the No. 2 ranked player in the 2023 class, per ESPN.

Evans, who is among the highest-rated players to ever commit to the Ducks, will now headline Oregon’s class and potentially bring other talented players with him. Over the weekend, Cook picked up a couple of predictions to commit to the Ducks once again, where he would now join his good friend Evans.

So where do the Ducks now rank in the 2023 national recruiting rankings following the addition of Evans? Here’s a look:

BREAKING: 5-star PF Kwame Evans commits to the Ducks

Massive pickup for Dana Altman and the Ducks. 5-star PF Kwame Evans is coming to Oregon, and he may bring another 5-star player with him.

The signs started pointing towards this a couple of days ago, but the final announcement was still just as sweet as if it had come out of the blue.

5-star power forward Kwame Evans, the No. 7 overall player in the 2023 class, announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks on Tuesday. He was favored to choose the Ducks a couple of months ago, but after his good friend Mookie Cook — another 5-star — de-committed from the program in June, Evans was said to be an Arizona Wildcats lean.

In the end, though, Evans ended up siding with Dana Altman and the Ducks, which bodes well for Oregon’s chances to get Cook back into the fold as well. Both players picked up Crystal Ball predictions to choose Oregon over the weekend, and with Evans now verbally committed, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Cook follow suit soon.

5-star QB Dante Moore named one of biggest commitments of the summer

The commitments haven’t been pouring in for Oregon, but they still got 5-star QB Dante Moore, who’s been named one of the biggest commits of the summer.

From a birds’ eye view, the Oregon Ducks have had a relatively quiet summer on the recruiting trail. When you look at schools like Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, and Oklahoma, the number of recruits that they’ve brought in over the past couple of months has dwarfed the Ducks.

However, there’s one commitment that Oregon has gotten that should make all of that wash out of the window. Earlier this summer, the Ducks landed 5-star quarterback Dante Moore, the No. 1 ranked QB prospect in school history.

Not only is Moore the highest-rated QB to ever commit to Oregon, but he is also in the conversation to become the No. 1 overall player in the 2023 class. When looking at the biggest commitments that took place in the month of July, On3 couldn’t help but highlight Moore going off of the board.

Dante Moore is about relationships. His circle is tight. It came down to who he connected with best, and that was Kenny Dillingham at Oregon. LSU made a run. Michigan was involved. Notre Dame and Texas A&M were schools on the list, but Oregon had been in a good spot longer than Moore let on to the public. The connection with Dillingham went back to a visit to Florida State last summer, and it helped Dan Lanning land the five-star quarterback. This was a fun race to track because Moore said so little, and there was a lot of misinformation out there.

With Dan Lanning’s first year at the helm in Eugene, there are going to be a ton of storylines to watch over the coming months. However, Oregon fans will always have in their back pocket the fact that next season, they will be able to see a young stud come into the program and start to get his feet wet. Whether or not he starts as a freshman is a different topic of conversation, but it’s clear early on that the Ducks have already made a big splash in the recruiting world.
