SIGNED: 4-star defensive tackle A’mauri Washington is officially a Duck

The Ducks just signed 4-star defensive tackle A’mauri Washington out of Chandler, Ariz.

The defensive tackle position is a spot that needs depth and Chandler, Ariz native A’mauri Washington will provide that and a possibility of much more.

Oregon will also lack experience along the defensive line in 2023. At 6-foot-3 and 320 pounds, Washington will be one of the largest defensive lineman in the program. Assuming Brandon Dorlus leaves the program for the NFL, Washington could ascend up the depth chart fairly quickly.

Many big-time schools such as Michigan State, Oklahoma, and LSU all wanted Washington’s talents and he decided to come to Eugene instead.

The recruiting services say Washington is a Top 25 defensive lineman recruit and one of the best recruits to come out of Arizona in the Class of 2023.

4-star DL A’mauri Washington announces surprise commitment to Oregon

The No. 24 DL in the 2023 class, A’mauri Washington, is joining the Ducks’ 2023 class after a surprise commitment on Friday.

There were arguably bigger things on the mind of Oregon Duck fans on the Friday night before the season-opener against the Georgia Bulldogs. However, a surprise commitment is never a bad thing to get.

On Friday night, 4-star DL A’mauri Washington announced that he would be committing to the Ducks. Washington, the No. 24 DL and No. 159 overall player in the 2023 class, announced his commitment following his game on Friday night.

Washington had previously announced that he would make his commitment on September 6.

The Ducks continue to build their 2023 class, and while the focus is currently on Georgia and how they might stop the Bulldogs on Saturday, it’s nice to see the future keep growing.

4-star DL A’mauri Washington sets commitment date; Oregon favored to land blue-chip prospect

The Ducks are in line to land another blue-chip prospect on the DL. We will find out when he announces in September.

The defensive line has absolutely turned into a strength for the Oregon Ducks in the past decade. With DeForest Buckner, Arik Armstead, Dion Jordan and Kayvon Thibodeaux, Eugene has been a breeding ground for NFL talent. Even this season, the Ducks are expecting DJ Johnson and Brandon Dorlus to step up and wreak havoc in the trenches.

Going forward, it doesn’t look like anything will change either. The Ducks are favored to land four-star defensive lineman A’mauri Washington, one of the top players in the state of Arizona. Washington, who ranks No. 37 among defensive linemen and No. 162 overall in the 2023 class is set to announce his commitment on Sept. 6. He is down to four schools; the Ducks are listed alongside Florida, Oklahoma and LSU.

Washington has one crystal ball prediction on 247Sports, and it’s in favor of the Ducks.

Ducks become favorites to land 4-star DL from Arizona, 3-star DL from Texas

The Ducks are now the leader in the clubhouse to land a pair of defensive lineman, one a 4-star from Arizona, and the other a 380-pound player from Texas.

It was another busy day for the Oregon Ducks on the recruiting front. A pair of predictions came in for at least one blue-chip prospect and one massive, 380-pound player to commit to the Ducks this summer.

The first prediction came for four-star defensive lineman A’mauri Washington, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound player from Arizona. 247Sports recruiting director Steve Wiltfong gave a level 6 confidence prediction that Washington would end up at Oregon, which is the first crystal ball Washington has picked up.

Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 14 DL and No. 111 overall player in the 2023 class, Washington would be a big addition to Oregon’s defensive line.

The second prediction is for Samu Taumanupepe, a three-star defensive lineman out of Texas. The first thing that stands out about Taumanupepe is his incredible size. He stands at 6-foot-3, 380 pounds. Despite that, he appears remarkably agile.

Tuamanupepe will announce his commitment on July 31st.

Four-star defender A’Mauri Washington lists Oklahoma Sooners in his top 4

Oklahoma makes the top four for 2023 four-star DL A’Mauri Washington..

July will be a huge month for prospects in the 2023 recruiting class. An overwhelming amount of players are beginning to slowly whittle down their recruitments and focus on a handful of schools. In some cases, even pull the trigger and commit.

Oklahoma recently landed four-star linebacker Samuel Omosigho and not even a full day later find themselves in the top four for another four-star defensive player.

Defensive line prospect A’Mauri Washington dropped a video to highlight the schools he looks to be focusing on the most intently going forward.

Along with the Sooners, Oregon, Florida, and LSU made the top four for Washington.

Defensive tackles coach Todd Bates is the primary recruiter for Washington and has the Sooners very much in contention. An old name Sooners’ fans may remember opposes them here as former OU outside linebackers/defensive ends coach Jamar Cain is also recruiting Washington for the LSU Tigers. Cain is a wizard recruiting the west coast so going to recruit a kid from Arizona isn’t unfamiliar territory.

Washington visited Oklahoma for the Champ U BBQ and took an official to LSU and Michigan State back-to-back weekends.

Washington stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs just under 300 pounds. He figures to be a big interior defended by the time he gets into a collegiate strength and conditioning program. He has a quality first step loaded with quickness and power. His tape shows a decent understanding of leverage and uses his hands and length to dictate where he wants to take offensive linemen. Chris Singletary, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports sees Washington being able to play in a three or four-man front in college.
