Who fills out Oregon’s quarterback room behind Bo Nix in 2023?

Bo Nix is QB1 for the Ducks in 2023. Who will be the QB2 or QB3 though? Does Oregon find a transfer or try to flip a recruit?

One of the biggest questions that Oregon Duck fans had over the past few weeks was answered on Sunday night.

Who is going to be the starting QB in 2023? Bo Nix.

This has caused a few other questions to pop up, though, many of which are unanswerable at the current time. However, we wanted to take a look at one of those questions and see if we could drum up some potential answers.

Who are the Ducks going to go after to fill out the quarterback room this off-season? Who is going to be backing up Nix in 2023 and potentially in line to start in 2024?

There are a lot of options on the table, whether it be a recruit or someone in the transfer portal. Let’s look at a few names.

Ducks announce addition of 4-star EDGE Teitum Tuioti

4-star EDGE Teitum Tuioti will join the Ducks and practice with the team this week leading up to the Holiday Bowl, thanks to a new NCAA rule.

The early signing period hasn’t technically opened up in college football just yet, but the Oregon Ducks were able to take advantage of a new rule and make a big addition to the roster on Monday.

It was announced by the team that 4-star EDGE commit Teitum Tuioti, a hometown star at Sheldon Hich School in Eugene this past season, will be joining the team and practicing with the Ducks leading up to the Holiday Bowl. Tuioti will sign with the Ducks officially on Wednesday, but a new rule from the NCAA allows the recruit to join the team early and work with them through bowl preparation, though he won’t be eligible to play in the game.

Tuioti, the son of Oregon defensive line coach Tony Tuioti, stands at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, and is rated as the No. 1 player in Oregon, and No. 211 overall player in the nation. He has been committed to the Ducks since July of 2022.

Despite Dante Moore’s flip, Oregon’s future remains bright with Bo Nix at QB in 2023

The loss of 5-star QB Dante Moore is unfortunate, but Oregon’s 2023 outlook is still as positive as ever with Bo Nix returning in 2023.

On Monday morning, the breaking news that almost everyone saw coming was officially announced.

5-star quarterback Dante Moore — the No. 3 player in the 2023 class — flipped his commitment from the Oregon Ducks to the UCLA Bruins. It’s a move that had been foreshadowed for a couple of weeks following Moore’s official visit to Los Angeles over a week ago, and his decision to not take a visit to Eugene this past week. Numerous predictions have come in over the past several days that had Moore making the flip, and they proved to be true.

So how do you feel as a Duck fan?

Had this news come 24 hours ago, it likely would have hurt a lot more, wouldn’t it? The truth is that Oregon got a big win on Sunday night when quarterback Bo Nix announced his return for the 2023 season. The Ducks now know who their QB will be next year, and while it’s a tough blow to miss out on the highest-rated QB to ever commit to Oregon, the Ducks are going to be just fine going forward.

BREAKING: 5-star QB Dante Moore to decommit from Oregon, flip to UCLA Bruins

5-star Oregon QB Dante Moore is flipping to UCLA. It’s the news that Duck fans have been dreading to see.

An announcement that Oregon Duck fans have been dreading officially has come, with 5-star quarterback Dante Moore reportedly de-committing from the Ducks and instead flipping to the UCLA Bruins.

Moore, who has been committed to Oregon since July, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 3 overall player in the 2023 class. He has been locked in with the Ducks for months, but a visit to Los Angeles in early December put the notion into place that he might be wavering on his decision.

In the end, there are numerous factors that likely went into Moore’s decision to flip schools. Chief among them may be former Oregon offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham’s decision to leave the Ducks to take the head coaching job with the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Was it a clear path to starting as a true freshman that convinced Moore to flip to Chip Kelly and the Bruins? That may seem less likely now that former Kent State QB Collin Schlee transferred to UCLA over the weekend. It’s impossible to say for sure, but this is certainly a tough one to swallow for Duck fans.

Where the Ducks go from here at the QB position is unclear, but it’s now time for Oregon fans to hope as hard as they can that Nix returns for the 2023 season.

Ducks become overwhelming favorite to flip 4-star RB Jayden Limar from Notre Dame

There’s been buzz for a while, but the Ducks are now the overwhelming favorites to flip 4-star RB Jayden Limar from Notre Dame.

Four-star running back Jayden Limar gave his verbal commitment to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish back in May of 2022. The Oregon Ducks did not let that dissuade them, still pursuing the Washington athlete who ranks as the No. 17 RB and No. 2 player in Washington for the 2023 class.

It appears those efforts are close to paying off.

On Monday morning, a flood of Crystal Ball projections came in for the Ducks to flip Limar from Notre Dame and land him in the early signing period. This is not groundbreaking news, as there has been some buzz about Limar flipping to Oregon for a few weeks now. Limar has been on multiple visits to Eugene this year, including a last-minute trip to see Coach Carlos Locklyn and the Ducks this past weekend.

We will see in the coming days whether or not the Ducks are able to close the deal and get Limar to officially flip or not, but if they do, it will be a massive win. Oregon already has a commitment from 4-star RB Dante Dowdell, the No. 6 RB in the 2023 class, who has confirmed that he is locked in on his commitment. Adding Limar to that backfield will be a homerun ahead of the early signing period.

5-star OT Kadyn Proctor now predicted to flip commitment, but not to Oregon

New flip predictions are coming in for 5-star Iowa OT Kadyn Proctor.

A week ago, we were talking about the possibility that 5-star Iowa Hawkeyes offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor could be flipping his commitment and picking a new school before the early signing period on Wednesday.

Today, we’re still talking about that. However, the school that he may be flipping to is no longer the same.

Proctor, the No. 1 OT in the 2023 class, was originally thought to be an Oregon Ducks’ lean after multiple visits this fall and a strong relationship with Adrian Klemm. However, the 6-foot-7, 330-pounder is now picking up multiple predictions to flip to the Alabama Crimson Tide rather than the Ducks after his weekend visit to Tuscaloosa.

247Sports’ National Director of Recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, placed a Crystal Ball prediction on Monday morning for Proctor to end up heading to Alabama. While the Ducks have felt good about the prospect of landing Proctor for the past month or so, it appears that his late visit to see Nick Saban may have been an impactful one.

There are still a couple of days until the early signing period, so Oregon has time to potentially talk to Proctor and get him back in line with the Ducks. However, this is still tough news to hear for Oregon fans. Of all the flip targets down the stretch for Oregon, Proctor may have been the one that was among the most likely to actually happen. Now it doesn’t seem that way.

We will see how this one plays out going forward.

4-star Oregon CB Caleb Presley now receiving predictions to flip to Washington

Two new projections from 247Sports show 4-star CB Caleb Presley is likely to flip to the Washington Huskies.

Dante Moore is not the only potential flip Oregon Duck fans need to be worried about.

Over the past month, there has been buzz building that Oregon’s four-star cornerback Caleb Presley, the No. 1 player in the state of Washington, will flip from the Ducks to the Washington Huskies. Presley took an official visit to Washington early in December before taking another visit to Eugene. It’s believed he has been leaning toward staying home rather than coming south to Oregon.

On Sunday morning, both 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong and Brandon Huffman placed crystal ball predictions for Presley to flip, the most damning forecast we’ve seen yet for the Ducks.

What does QB Collin Schlee’s commitment to UCLA mean for Dante Moore and the Ducks?

UCLA landed QB Collin Schlee in the transfer portal on Saturday. What does that mean for Oregon when it comes to Dante Moore?

A couple of days ago, I wrote about the future of the Oregon Ducks quarterback position, and how there were endless outcomes for how things would likely unfold over the coming weeks. With Bo Nix, Dante Moore and, surprisingly, DJ Uiagalelei acting as the main dominoes, it was important to watch their every move.

However, a different quarterback served as the first domino to fall on Saturday. ESPN’s Pete Thamel broke the news that former Kent State QB Collin Schlee was transferring to the UCLA Bruins. The move was confirmed by the school.

Believe it or not, this has a potentially major impact on the Ducks, as I wrote on Friday. Let’s break down why it’s important.

3-star WR Trech Kekahuna announces verbal commitment

3-star WR Trech Kekahuna announces verbal commitment

The Oregon Ducks received another tough blow on the recruiting front on Saturday afternoon, missing out on the commitment of 3-star wide receiver Trech Kekahuna, who instead chose to go to the Arizona Wildcats.

Kekahuna was previously committed to the Wisconsin Badgers, but he reopened his recruitment late in the season. Standing at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, Kekahuna is rated as the No. 119 WR and No. 815 overall player in the 2023 class.

It’s been a tough week for Oregon on the recruiting front with all of the recent news surrounding 5-star QB Dante Moore and his potential flip to the UCLA Bruins, but there was hope that the Ducks could at least add a talented WR to their recruiting class in Kekahuna. That didn’t end up happening, obviously, but there is still sure to be more good news to come in the next few days.

No. 1 QB in 2024 Dylan Raiola decommits from Ohio State; Ducks potential contenders

5-star Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 QB in the 2024 class, is back on the market. The Ducks are expected to be potential contenders.

While endless drama currently surrounds the Oregon Ducks and the quarterback position, specifically five-star QB Dante Moore and his potential flip to UCLA, a new answer might have just become available.

Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 QB and No. 1 player in the 2024 class, announced on Saturday that he was decommitting from the Ohio State Buckeyes and reopening his recruitment. Raiola, a Chandler, Arizona, native, has been committed to Ohio State since May.

Raiola was considering the Ducks before committing to Ohio State. And according to Raiola’s father, “everything is back on the table,” per 247Sports’ Steve Wilftong.

While Oregon may be in serious danger of losing its 2023 class QB, there is a chance it could be in the picture to land the No. 1 QB in next year’s cycle. Wiltfong reported on a 247Sports message board after the decommitment that the Ducks were recently on an in-school visit for Raiola, and should be considered a contender.

Does that mean that they will get him? Who knows.

If you are frustrated by all of these twists and turns that the recruiting world has taken over the past week for the Ducks, I understand, and I share that feeling.

Recruiting is about selling the future and getting players with high potential to come to your school. They often will make a decision and change their minds as other schools offer more money or better situations. That’s the name of the game.

We will see how the situation shake out with Moore, and we will see if Oregon ramps up the chase for Raiola. If you want to ignore it all, be my guest. If you want to try and find some hope, though, and see a bright future for the Ducks, one just opened up his recruitment and could be on the horizon for Oregon.
