4-star Oregon CB Caleb Presley flips to Washington Huskies

Tough blow for Oregon’s 2023 class. 4-star CB Caleb Presley is flipping to the Huskies, staying home in Washington.

The Oregon Ducks got a tough blow on the recruiting trail, getting the news that 4-star cornerback Caleb Presley would flip his commitment to the Washington Huskies, his home-state team.

This is the second player to flip from the Ducks this week, with 5-star QB Dante Moore announcing his commitment to the UCLA Bruins earlier in the day.

Presley, who is rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Washington, is seen by 247Sports as the No. 19 CB and No. 165 overall player in the 2023 class. He has been committed to Oregon since July, but a couple of late visits to Seattle, including his official visit on December 2, appeared to be impactful enough to sway his decision.

This is unfortunate for Oregon, with a big need at the cornerback position on the defense. While it’s tough to lose a blue-chip recruit, Duck fans at least can feel comfortable with the fact that they landed former Alabama Crimson Tide CB Khyree Jackson out of the transfer portal on Sunday.

We will likely see the Ducks continue to try and add defensive back talent this offseason, but losing out on Presley is not something you like to see happen.

4-star Oregon CB Caleb Presley now receiving predictions to flip to Washington

Two new projections from 247Sports show 4-star CB Caleb Presley is likely to flip to the Washington Huskies.

Dante Moore is not the only potential flip Oregon Duck fans need to be worried about.

Over the past month, there has been buzz building that Oregon’s four-star cornerback Caleb Presley, the No. 1 player in the state of Washington, will flip from the Ducks to the Washington Huskies. Presley took an official visit to Washington early in December before taking another visit to Eugene. It’s believed he has been leaning toward staying home rather than coming south to Oregon.

On Sunday morning, both 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong and Brandon Huffman placed crystal ball predictions for Presley to flip, the most damning forecast we’ve seen yet for the Ducks.

8 potential flip candidates for the Oregon Ducks ahead of early signing period

Who are the guys that Oregon is trying to flip, and what is the likelihood that they pull it off? We break it down here.

We are officially in the final stretch of the early recruiting window, with less than a week until the early signing period starts for college football. This weekend we will see a flurry of both visits and potential commitments, as schools try to get players on campus one last time before the dead period begins and players have to make their decisions.

For the Oregon Ducks, it is expected to be an incredibly active time. Not only are some high-profile players already confirmed to be on campus, but we expect more names to be added to the visitor list in Eugene. We will see both players who are committed to the Ducks and players who are either uncommitted or committed elsewhere on campus.

With signing season comes flip season, and Dan Lanning is looking to make a statement. A number of players could end up flipping to the Ducks in the next week. Of course, there are also a couple of players committed to Oregon that could end up flipping to other schools.

Let’s go over all of the candidates and break down what to watch for in the coming days as the recruiting window winds down.

Friday Night Notes: Alabama adds 2 more blue chips, Georgia flips a 4-star WR and more

The latest football recruiting news from around the country.

USA TODAY High School Sports‘ Friday Night Notes is a weekly high school recruiting recap that looks at the latest news from around the country—from the Class of 2023 to ’24 and beyond.

The rich tend to get richer. That’s the case in the broader economy and in the world of recruiting, where Alabama is crushing the competition. Already leading this year’s recruiting race, this week they added two more four-star prospects, one from this cycle and one for the next.

On Thursday, MCHS (Ala.) four-star Edge Sterling Dixon (class of 2024) announced his commitment to Alabama in a creative way. He shared a video on Twitter recreating an iconic scene from Friday with his friends.

Dixon (6-foot-3, 211 pounds) was an extremely popular recruit, earning offers from 30 different schools, including several SEC rivals. He’s ranked No. 16 at his position and No. 13 in the state.

Earlier this week, Nick Saban and company also got the commitment of four-star wide receiver Jaren Hamilton. Ranked No. 31 at his position and No. 50 overall in the state of Florida, Hamilton (6-foot-1, 188 pounds) adds another potential pro receiver to what has become an NFL factory in recent years.

Alabama still ranks first in the 2023 race, and thanks to Dixon, they’re No. 4 in the 2024 recruiting cycle, trailing only LSU, Notre Dame and Georgia.

Oregon’s 4-star CB commit Caleb Presley announces visit to Washington

4-star CB Caleb Presley, the third-highest-rated commit in Oregon’s 2023 class, will be taking an official visit to the in-state Washington Huskies.

It may be time for Oregon Duck fans to batten down the hatches and hold on as hard as they can when it comes to the recruitment of 4-star cornerback Caleb Presley, the third-highest-rated commit in Oregon’s 2023 class.

Presley, the No. 13 CB in the 2023 class and No. 168 overall player in the nation, has been committed to Oregon since July, but the Washington native has been seeing a strong push from his hometown Huskies in the past month, and the elite CB will be taking an official visit to Washington this coming weekend.

Presley is a core member of Oregon’s 2023 class, which is currently ranked No. 12 in 247Sports national recruiting rankings.

With Washington’s strong finish to the season, which included a win over Oregon in Eugene, and the likelihood that they will play in the Rose Bowl this year, it’s not hard to see why they’re growing as an appealing destination for a young in-state player. With the Huskies’ knack for developing defensive back talent, it’s clear that they have some juice in Presley’s recruitment.

We will see if they are able to flip Presley before early signing day on December 21, but this is something that Oregon fans need to watch closely.

Breaking: 4-star CB Caleb Presley commits to Oregon Ducks

The Oregon Ducks landed a commitment from 4-star cornerback Caleb Presley, the No. 1 ranked player from the state of Washington.

The Oregon Ducks added another massive piece to their 2023 recruiting class on Tuesday night, getting a verbal commitment from 4-star cornerback Caleb Presley, the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Washington.

Presley, who was high school teammates with 5-star Oregon OT Josh Conerly, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 9 CB and No. 78 overall player in the 2023 class. He trimmed his potential schools down to six, with the Ducks listed alongside Alabama, UCLA, Michigan State, Texas A&M, and Washington.

It’s not a shock, however, that Presley ended up picking the Ducks, as a slew of Crystal Ball Predictions have all come in over the past couple of weeks indicating that Oregon will be the landing spot for Presley.

With Presley’s addition to the secondary, the Ducks have done a magnificent job of bolstering their defensive backfield in this recruiting class, not to mention the 2022 class as well. Since Dan Lanning and his new coaching staff have taken over, here are the defensive backs that Oregon has added:

  • 4-star Caleb Presley
  • 4-star CB Cole Martin
  • 4-star S Kodi DeCambra
  • 4-star S Tyler Turner
  • 3-star CB Collin Gill
  • 4-star CB Jahlil Florence
  • 4-star CB Jalil Tucker
  • 4-star S Trejon Williams
  • 4-star CB Khamari Terrell

That is a loaded secondary that, with Coach Demetrice Martin coaching them up, could easily turn into one of the strengths of the team in the coming years.

4-star CB Caleb Presley includes MSU in top 6 list, plans to commit next week

There could be some post-Fourth of July fireworks on the recruiting trail for Michigan State next week

There could be some post-Fourth of July fireworks on the recruiting trail for Michigan State next week.

Four-star cornerback Caleb Presley announced on Tuesday that he’ll be committing on July 5, and the Spartans are one of his six finalist teams. The other five teams he tabbed as finalists are Alabama, UCLA, Oregon, Texas A&M and Washington.

Presley is ranked as the No. 9 cornerback and No. 78 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2023 class. He’s also listed as the No. 2 player from the state of Washington.

Presley currently holds offers from nearly 30 programs so it’s great to see Michigan State remain in the hunt for his commitment. He is, however, projected to commit to Oregon according to 247Sports so we will have to wait and see next week if the Spartans come up short on this highly-touted prospect.

Ducks become heavy favorite to land commitment from No. 2 ranked player in Washington

After landing Washington’s No. 1 player — Josh Conerly — in 2022, Oregon is now predicted to land the No. 2 player in Washington in 2023.

The Oregon Ducks have done incredibly well when it comes to the recruitment of four-star cornerback Caleb Presley, and it appears those efforts could end up paying off before long.

Presley, who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 9 CB and No. 78 player in the 2023 class, was high school teammates with five-star offensive tackle Josh Conerly, who arrived on campus to start his Oregon career with the Ducks this last week. Presley is also ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Washington.

[lawrence-related id=25389]

After taking a visit to Eugene last weekend, the recruiting forecast for Presley has been active for the blue-chip defensive back. According to 247Sports’ crystal ball predictions, the Ducks are the heavy favorites to land the Washington CB. Three new predictions came from Steve Wiltfong, Brandon Huffman and Greg Biggins.

If those names ring a bell, they should — that trio is among the most plugged-in throughout the world of recruiting, and all feel confident Presley will choose the Ducks.

So after grabbing a commitment from the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Washington in 2022, will the Ducks be able to get the No. 2 player in 2023? To make things even sweeter, Oregon is also in a good spot to land four-star defensive end Jayden Wayne, the No. 1 player in Washington for this class as well.

That may be getting too far ahead of ourselves, though. We don’t yet know when Presley will make his final commitment, but at this point, it seems like the Ducks are in a great spot.

4-star, top 10 CB Caleb Presley locks in official visit to MSU in June

One of the top cornerbacks in the 2023 class will be on Michigan State’s campus in a few weeks

One of the top cornerbacks in the 2023 class will be on Michigan State’s campus in a few weeks.

Caleb Presley of Seattle announced on Monday that he has locked in an official visit to Michigan State from June 10 – 12. Presley received a scholarship offer from the Spartans last August and took an unofficial visit to Michigan State last October.

Presley is a four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 8 cornerback in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2023 class. He’s also ranked as the No. 83 overall prospect and No. 2 player from Washington.

Presley holds scholarship offers from nearly 30 programs, including the likes of Alabama, Oregon, Texas A&M, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma Penn State, Texas and UCLA. Michigan State is in a good spot with this elite prospect planning an official visit to campus, and hopefully will lead to the Spartans beating out all of these other big-time programs for his commitment.

Caleb Presley, top CB on the west coast, places Oregon Ducks in top-12

There’s no better CB on the west coast than 4-star CB Caleb Presley. He put the Ducks in his top-12 on Friday.

[jwplayer EadSMBst]

When it comes to the top-rated defensive backs out west, the Oregon Ducks already have a commitment from the second-best guy on the list, 4-star CB Cole Martin.

On Friday afternoon, they made the cut for the top guy on that list, 4-star CB Caleb Presley.

Presley, who is a 6-foot-0, 180-pound player from Washington, is ranked as the No. 9 CB in the nation, and No. 83 player overall. He currently stands as the No. 2 guy in the state of Washington, and he was a high school teammate at Rainier Beach with Josh Conerly, the 5-star OT who just committed to Oregon earlier this month.

Presley listed Oregon in his top-12 alongside the likes of Alabama, Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, Utah, and Washington.

Presley paid a visit to Eugene a couple of weeks ago, and will likely make a return trip before too long as well.
