Sooners four-star tight end target Kaden Helms sets commitment date

4 star tight end target Kaden Helms set his commitment date for this month. Can the Sooners land another top 2022 offensive recruit?

Recruiting season continues to heat up for the Oklahoma Sooners and their top targets. After getting a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Jake Taylor this week, another top target for the 2022 recruiting class is preparing to make his decision.

Kaden Helms, the four-star tight end from Bellevue West High School in Bellevue, Nebraska, will announce his decision to the world on July 18 according to a report from 247Sports Steve Wiltfong.

Helms is another top offensive target that is favored to be heading to Norman after Raleek Brown, Gavin Sawchuk, Jacob Sexton and Jake Taylor committed to join Lincoln Riley’s offense at OU.

It would be another huge get for the Oklahoma Sooners, who have made it a habit of nabbing the top offensive talent in each recruiting cycle.

Helms joined many of the Sooners top recruits at the recent ChampU BBQ in Norman.

According to Rivals, Helms is the No. 19 tight end in the 2022 recruiting class while 247Sports has him ranked the 15th-best tight end in the nation.

It’s already been a fantastic summer for the Sooners, and it looks like they aren’t slowing yet.

2022 Athlete Xavion Brice commits to the Oklahoma Sooners

The Oklahoma Sooners land another big play threat to the 2022 recruiting class with the commitment of Sequin’s Xavion Brice.

Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooner added another commitment to the 2022 on this holiday weekend with the decision of three-star athlete Xavion Brice.

After adding four-star offensive tackle Jacob Sexton on Saturday, the Sooners added another wide receiver to an already stellar 2022 recruiting class.

He also ran the ball 88 times for 531 yards (6 yards per carry) and four touchdowns.

It’s a big get for the Sooners who had a big play threat  after losing four-star wide receiver Talyn Shettron to Oklahoma StateTalyn Shettron to Oklahoma State earlier this week.

Brice is a big play threat that will have an opportunity to make big plays for the Oklahoma Sooners as soon as he gets on campus on 2022.

Four-star offensive tackle Jacob Sexton commits to Oklahoma over Texas, Texas A&M

Texas is now batting .500 in the offensive lineman category this weekend. Jacob Sexton announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Saturday.

Texas is now batting .500 in the offensive lineman category this weekend.

First, it was a whiff on Cameron Williams to Oregon. Then, Cole Hutson and Connor Robertson committed to the good guys, shoring up the interior offensive line. On Saturday, it was a loss to the bad guys across the Red River.

Four-star offensive tackle Jacob Sexton announced his commitment to the home state Oklahoma Sooners. Texas and Texas A&M were both vying for the Deer Creek native’s commitment. Alabama and Oklahoma State received official visits as well.

Even if recruitment commitment videos are not your thing, Sexton’s is worth viewing. Texas may not be the choice but the offensive tackle was creative throughout the minute and a half.

You can watch it below:

On the 247Sports composite, Sexton ranks as the No. 24 offensive tackle in the country. Oklahoma is going to produce more talent than usual during the 2022 cycle as Sexton is the No. 5 player from the state. On a national level, the four-star is the No. 236 overall prospect.

For Texas, all attention now shifts to Sunday’s announcement from five-star Kelvin Banks. Even if Sexton did end up working out for the Longhorns, Banks is the No. 1 offensive line priority on the board. Getting a win would be massive for Kyle Flood.

Oklahoma football recruiting: 5-star OT, OU target Tristan Leigh sets commitment date

Oklahoma is going for the trifecta to finish off its offensive line recruiting class. Tristan Leigh also announced his commitment date.

Oklahoma is going for the trifecta to finish off its offensive line recruiting class.

The Sooners have been after five-star offensive guard Bryce Foster, four-star offensive tackle Savion Byrd and five-star offensive tackle Tristan Leigh for months now. Two of the three were together in Norman, Oklahoma, for the Sooner Summit and then Foster has visited Oklahoma on numerous occasions, including a trip of his own for Bedlam. The Sooners recently offered three-star offensive lineman Remington Strickland and have only been recruiting him momentarily.

Byrd and Foster set their commitment dates last week. Now, Leigh will be jumping in on the college choice train, as he announced his will be coming on Jan. 2.

Leigh announced a final five schools back in July and that list hasn’t changed much. Oklahoma is included alongside Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Florida. He will be revealing his commitment on live television during a broadcast dedicated to players who would be revealing their commitment during the All-American Bowl on NBC.

The Fairfax, Virginia, native is considered a five-star prospect by Rivals. He is considered the 15th best player in the 2021 recruiting class, the third-best offensive tackle and No. 1 player in the state of Virginia.

Oklahoma currently has 15 commitments in the 2021 recruiting class and has the 14th overall ranked recruiting class.

Oklahoma football recruiting: 4-star OT, OU target Savion Byrd sets commitment date

The long wait maybe over. Savion Byrd was rumored to be on track to commit to Oklahoma in Aug.. Now, he’ll reveal his college choice on NSD.

The long wait maybe over.

There was strong buzz coming out of the Sooner Summit in Aug. that a big commitment from one of the best recruits in the country could be coming. Savion Byrd has since let off that and will announce his college choice four months later.

The four-star offensive tackle spent that weekend alongside Caleb Williams and a handful of other top Oklahoma targets. The Sooners have been the reported leaders for Byrd since, even with a visit weekend spent at LSU with LSU commitments.

Now, the highly touted recruit will make his college decision official on National Signing Day on Dec. 16, he announced last week.

Oklahoma made his final five on Nov. 13 alongside Texas, Auburn, LSU and SMU.

Byrd is considered the 84th best prospect in the 2021 recruiting class according to Rivals. He is the 15th best offensive tackle and 14th overall recruit in the 2021 recruiting class.

Five-star offensive guard target Bryce Foster announced last week, too, that he would be revealing his commitment on Dec. 18.

Oklahoma currently has 15 commitments in the 2021 recruiting class and has the 14th overall ranked recruiting class.

Five-star OG Bryce Foster visits Oklahoma, sets commitment date 4 days later

The world of recruiting in 2020 is wild, but OU may be benefiting from the dead period. Bryce Foster has announced his commitment date.

The world of recruiting in 2020 is wild, but Oklahoma may be benefitting from the dead period.

Recruits are not allowed to go through a normal visit to a school—officially or unofficially. They can, however, pay for a visit on their own dime without getting a campus tour from coaches or having coaches show them around a facility.

This happened for the Sooner Summit, and it happened for Bedlam.

Five-star offensive guard Bryce Foster took in Oklahoma’s 41-13 win over Oklahoma State, according to a report from OU Insider’s Brandon Drumm. It was the first time Foster had traveled to Norman, Oklahoma, since right before COVID-19 shut recruiting down.

Four days after his most recent visit, Foster announced he would reveal where he is heading to play college football on Dec. 18.

Oklahoma is in the running for the five-star offensive guard along with LSU, Oregon, Texas and Texas A&M.

The Sooners have one committed offensive lineman, Cullen Montgomery, and are after five-star offensive tackle Tristan Leigh, four-star offensive tackle Savion Byrd and three-star offensive lineman Remington Strickland. Oklahoma could potentially lose Adrian Ealy, Creed Humphrey, Tyrese Robinson and Marquis Hayes to the NFL depending on how each grades out after the season.

Rivals considers Foster a five-star prospect. He is rated as the ninth-best player in the 2021 recruiting class, the No. 1 offensive guard and No. 2 player in the state of Texas.

Oklahoma has 15 commitments in the 2021 recruiting class and has the 14th overall ranked recruiting class.

Texas Football Recruiting: Former four-star Longhorn commit trending towards Oklahoma

For nearly 15 months, Billy Bowman was a staple in UT’s 2021 recruiting class. Now, he could be heading to the other side of the Red River.

For nearly 15 months, Billy Bowman was a staple in Texas’ 2021 recruiting class. Listed as a verastile athlete, the four-star prospect could play both wide receiver and cornerback at an elite level while also returning punts.

After being recruited by defensive coordinator Chris Ash and cornerbacks coach Jay Valai, Bowman was expected to join Texas’ secondary.

The high school senior plays bigger than his 5-10, 175-pound size and possesses incredible speed. Mix in Bowman’s solid tackling ability and great hands from playing wide receiver and there is no question why Texas wanted him on defense.

However, Bowman decommited from the Longhorns on Oct. 7 and it came as a major shock.

“I’ve decided to take a step back, analyze my future & dream goals,” Bowman announced on his Twitter page.

It was a huge loss for Texas as Bowman was the second-highest rated recruit in their 2021 class. The No. 33 player overall, Bowman was on the cusp of becoming a five-star prospect.

Now that he has reopened his recruitment, big-time schools have taken notice, including LSU who offered Bowman the next day. However, predictions have poured in for the Denton Ryan product jump across the Red River.

When Oklahoma won the Red River Shootout on Saturday, it was not the only win they would secure over Texas this week. Bowman seems set to be heading to Norman for at least the next three seasons.

Four 247Sports crystal balls have been in favor of the Sooners since Oct. 7, all with a seven or eight level of confidence. Lincoln Riley offered Bowman on July 21, 2020, and has been pursuing him ever since.

Also of note, Bowman’s position on 247Sports has been changed to wide receiver. It seems as if Oklahoma has focused on making the athlete apart of the Sooners’ explosive offense instead of defense like Texas planned.

While it is certainly possible for Bowman to commit back to Texas, it is rare to see a former decommit go back on his word.

Oklahoma will expand on its lead as the No. 1 2021 recruiting class in the Big 12 if Bowman commits. The Longhorns currently sit at the No. 2 spot in the conference with major ground to make up.

Georgia football among top schools for 4-star WR

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top schools for four-star wide receiver Malcolm Johnson

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top schools for four-star wide receiver Malcolm Johnson. Johnson plays high school football at St. Stephens & St. Agnes in Maryland.

Johnson, who is a member of the class of 2021, released his top schools via Twitter:

Johnson, who is projected to attend Oklahoma, puts Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Texas, Maryland, Florida, and USC. Does this mean that Malcolm “Jet” Johnson won’t end up as an Oklahoma Sooner?

Johnson would be a great addition to UGA’s recruiting class. Kirby Smart and Georgia just secured another commitment.

Johnson caught seven touchdowns passes last season. In the process, he hauled in over 800 receiving yards. Johnson may have an even bigger junior season.
