WATCH: What Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker said about Ohio State in previewing the matchup

Mel Tucker had a lot of good things to say about his impression of Ohio State, knowing it’ll be a challenge Saturday. #GoBucks

The Ohio State football team will play on the road for the first time in 2022. And while the season has looked like sunshine and rainbows over the last few weeks at home, sometimes that first trip on the bus can lend itself to poor execution because of unfamiliarity and the environment.

But Michigan State is reeling this season. The Spartans have lost three straight, all by double figures.

Head coach Mel Tucker met with the local media in East Lansing earlier this week to preview the matchup with Ohio State, and he had plenty to say. We always like to repurpose the preview press conference from the opposite sideline, so we have what the Spartans head coach had to say before this one as well.

Watch below thanks to the SpartanMag YouTube challenge and listen to Tucker discuss the challenge of facing the Ohio State offense, the improvement and decisiveness he sees from the defense, his team’s poor execution so far, and more on the Buckeyes.

Ohio State will travel to East Lansing to take on Michigan State on Saturday, with kickoff set for 4 p.m. ET on ABC. We’ll have more through the week to preview the matchup and get you ready for the game this weekend.

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan State Spartans opening odds

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan State Spartans @Tipico opening odds #GoBucks

On October 9, the Ohio State Buckeyes (5-0) will kick off their sixth game of the season against the Michigan State Spartans (2-3) at 4:00 p.m. ET in East Lansing, Michigan. The Buckeyes have had some great success in this series going 15-3 in the last 18 contests.

Our friends at Tipico, our official odds provider, currently have Ohio State listed as a mighty large 25.5-point favorite with the total points set at 64.5. This seems like a large spread, but as discussed above, Ohio State has done well in this series and in addition to going 15-3 straight-up, the Buckeyes are also 12-6 against the spread in that same stretch.

This line may seem large, but Ohio State is explosive and own Michigan State after winning six in a row and topping the spread five times in a row.

Five things we think we learned after Ohio State’s destruction of Michigan State in Columbus

We give you five things we think we learned after Ohio State’s whitewashing of Michigan State.

Well, that was fun, if not a little unexpected for Ohio State against Michigan State. I think a lot of people felt pretty good about the matchup of OSU’s passing game vs. the struggling secondary of the Spartans. That certainly played out to be true, but there’s more than that that we can take away from this contest.

In fact, after every Buckeye game, we try to pull back the layers of the scarlet and gray onion as a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to what we saw on the field of play. We’re doing the same here because there is a lot to digest after this one, most of it very, very good.

Here are five things we think we learned after Ohio State’s 56-7 victory over the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday

Three reasons Michigan State could give Ohio State problems

Many are predicting an Ohio State blowout Saturday, but here are three reasons why Michigan State could cause issues for the Buckeyes.

It’s almost time. We’ve dissected and analyzed the matchup between Ohio State and Michigan State a thousand different ways at this point. Tomorrow, they’ll put the football down and play it out on a television or streaming device near you and add some clarity to the Big Ten East division and College Football Playoff picture.

The oddsmakers have the Buckeyes as an almost three-touchdown favorite, and that seems pretty outlandish to be honest. With two top-ten teams doing battle, that’s really unheard of.

However, there are reasons to believe that the Spartans could make this a game. If you’ve been watching football this year, you’ve no doubt seen what Mel Tucker has done with this bunch, and if the Buckeyes believe they’ll just roll their helmets out there and win going away, they’ll be in trouble.

With that in mind, and based on what we’ve seen so far this season, here are three reasons why Michigan State could cause some issues for Ohio State Saturday afternoon in the ‘Shoe.

Five keys to Ohio State beating Michigan State on Saturday

We give you five keys to Ohio State walking away victorious against Michigan State on Saturday. #GoBucks

Can we pump up this Ohio State game against Michigan State enough? I mean yeah, OSU has been in plenty of huge games over the last few years, but having one of this magnitude late in the year in the ‘Shoe doesn’t come around very often. It’s a top ten matchup with ESPN’s College GameDay in the house for all the fun, and one of the two teams is coming out the other end with huge things still to play for.

As with any game, we can discuss and analyze it from all sorts of angles, but it’ll come down to a few key things in the game for the Buckeyes to walk out of Ohio Stadium with all of its lofty goals still on the table.

This one could take more twists and turns than a murder mystery, or OSU could execute and do the things it needs to do in order to make this one a less stressful event and tamp down anxiety in the great state of Ohio.

Here are five keys were picking out that need to go Ohio State’s way in order to make victory much more attainable on Saturday afternoon on the banks of the Olentangy.

Ever wonder what Ohio State’s game with Michigan State means from a Spartan perspective, or what the OSU program is from that side? We talked to Spartans Wire to get an idea. #GoBucks

We are now just one day away from the titanic struggle in the Big Ten between two top ten ranked teams. No. 4 Ohio State hosts No. 7 Michigan State (CFP Rankings) at Noon in the ‘Shoe and there are some sizeable things at stake. Living in the moment of all things that is Ohio State football, Buckeye fans are fully aware of what’s at stake, and what the strengths and pitfalls of this team are.
