8 underclassmen that can play key roles for Alabama Football next season

Alabama has a lot of underclassmen that were highly-regarded coming out of high school. Roll Tide Wire takes a look at 10 underclassmen that can be key contributors for the Crimson Tide next season.

Each year, Alabama signs some of the top recruits in the country. There is no questioning the fact that Alabama has established depth from a talent standpoint. While it has not been proven by some, others have already solidified their spot as a starter and key contributor.

With that being the case, it will be interesting to see which players on the roster take on an increased role heading into next season. Throughout the spring and summer, it will be interesting to keep an eye on which underclassmen take strides towards being contributors during the 2024 season.

Roll Tide Wire takes a look at eight underclassmen that could play key roles for Alabama Football next season.

Alabama adds 4-star edge rusher to 2024 class

Alabama has landed a 2024 four-star prospect.

Only a day after the Crimson Tide landed a commitment from one of the top wide receivers remaining in the 2024 class, Ryan Williams, Alabama picked up yet another big commit Thursday afternoon from another recent visitor to Tuscaloosa, Noah Carter.

Carter was one of the top uncommitted edge rushers remaining in the 2024 class, rated as a four-star prospect out of Centennial High School in Arizona. The four-star is also considered the nation’s No. 253 overall prospect in the class according to the 247Sports Composite, as well as the No. 4 player in the state of Arizona.

Carter’s commitment continues the list of names to follow head coach Kalen DeBoer from Washington to Alabama, as the four-star was originally one of the biggest names in the Huskies 2024 class. Carter also signed his official NLI back in December with Washington but was released from it earlier this month.

The four-star is now the fourth player linked to Washington to follow DeBoer to Alabama, joining transfers Austin Mack, Parker Brailsford, and Germie Bernard.

Alabama lands commitment 2024 four-star EDGE Noah Carter

Alabama Football and Kalen DeBoer land a big-time commitment from 2024 four-star EDGE Noah Carter.

The new Alabama coaching staff continues to strike gold on the recruiting trail. On Thursday, Alabama landed a commitment from former Washington signee and 2024 four-star edge rusher Noah Carter. The news comes just one day after the Crimson Tide landed a commitment from 2024 five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams.

Carter, an Arizona native, is listed at 6-foot-3.5 and 218 pounds. The product of Centennial High School played tight end and outside linebacker his senior season. His athleticism and versatility could allow for him to choose which position he prefers to play in Tuscaloosa.

It will be interesting to see where Carter lines up for the Crimson Tide next season. Needless to say, he is a player that could make an immediate impact during his true freshman season.

Alabama is trending toward landing this four-star 2024 EDGE prospect

Kalen DeBoer has been hitting the recruiting trail hard over the past few days and it’s starting to pay off.

When Alabama hired former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer as Nick Saban’s successor, one of the biggest concerns of Crimson Tide fans was about his ability to recruit. Well, those worries may be put to rest soon, as he’s been putting in some serious work on the recruiting trail.

DeBoer, a native of South Dakota, has spent time in Big Ten country, California and the Pacific Northwest as a coach. The lack of experience in the Southeast led many to believe that he may have a hard time recruiting those in the area, and difficulty conniving prospects from other parts of the country to move down and play for Alabama.

Yesterday, DeBoer landed a commitment from 2024 five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams, who is an in-state recruit. This was important because not only is Williams from Alabama and a stellar player, but he de-committed from the Tide after Saban retired and tested the waters. DeBoer and his coaching staff managed to reel him back in over the likes of Auburn, Texas, LSU and Texas A&M.

Now, it looks like the program is trending toward landing another big-time 2024 recruit in four-star EDGE from Arizona, Noah Carter.

Carter was originally a Washington signee when DeBoer was the Huskies’ head coach, but he was released from his National Letter of Intent after the coaching change was made in Seattle.

Andrew Bone, a recruiting expert from On3, recently put in a projection for Alabama to land Carter.

Overall, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) has the Crimson Tide with a 78.8% chance to land Carter, Washington with a 19.6% chance and Louisville with a 1.0% chance.

Alabama is becoming favorite to land four-star EDGE Noah Carter

This could potentially be the first of many

The past few days have not only been tough on the roster in Tuscaloosa for new head football coach Kalen DeBoer but also for the fans of the Crimson Tide.

Alabama has seen several players enter the transfer portal since Nick Saban’s retirement including key contributors such as Caleb Downs and Kadyn Proctor.

Well, some good news may be on the way for Coach DeBoer and the Alabama faithful as it seems that the Crimson Tide have gained a lot of momentum for four-star EDGE defender Noah Carter.

Carter signed with Coach DeBoer and the Huskies during the early signing period but announced late Wednesday night that he had officially been let out of his national letter of intent to Washington.

In that time, Alabama has been given a handful of Crystal Balls from 247Sports and appears to be the overwhelming favorite to land the talented defender.

Stay tuned to Roll Tide Wire for updates on Carter and the remaining targets for the Crimson Tide.

Top five edge defenders signed to the Big Ten during the early signing period

Top five edge defenders signed to the Big Ten during the early signing period #GoBucks

The initial hype of the early signing period has died down, but there was a ton of talent to explore and so much so we are breaking it down by position. We have already dove into the top five quarterbacksrunning backswide receivers, tight ends, offensive tackles, and interior offensive linemen to sign with Big Ten teams and now we want to break down a position that Ohio State has struggled in with edge defenders.

The Big Ten can recruit pass rushers and edge defenders as evidenced by the conference snagging four of the top 20 edge rushers in the class. It is a shame that the Buckeyes are not present on this list, but it is also more depressing that the Michigan Wolverines make an appearance twice, but  let’s now dive into the top five edge defenders to sign with Big Ten teams during the early signing period according to 247Sports.

Also, other sites may have some of the players assigned to different positions, but we’re just going by how 247Sports has them classified.

Florida basketball has reached out to this Nothern Iowa transfer

Could Northern Iowa standout Noah Carter be the first transfer of the Golden Era?

The Florida Gators will look like an entirely new team next season. [autotag]Todd Golden[/autotag] has replaced [autotag]Mike White[/autotag] as head coach, and six seniors are set to move on from the program barring a surprise return.

That means Golden will likely be dipping into the transfer portal and an early name being linked with the Gators is Nothern Iowa sophomore Noah Carter, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-6-inch, 229-pound forward averaged 15.0 points and 4.1 rebounds in 2021-22 and has heard from several other programs since entering the portal on Wednesday.

Florida, Arkansas, BYU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas Tech and Virginia Tech are the early suitors, but Carter wants to take things slow.

“At the end of the day I’m trying to find a school that I fit in best and where I can make an impact,” Carter said. “Entering the portal has been something I’ve been thinking about for a while. I have some dreams and goals I want to achieve and I just believe that I’ll need to go to a different school and start a different chapter of my life to achieve them.”

UF has produced plenty of NBA players in the past and certainly has more eyes on it than UNI does. That said, Florida also plays in the much tougher Southeastern Conference, and Carter is relatively unproven against that level of play on a consistent basis.

With a few years of eligibility left on the table, Carter would have time to settle in wherever he lands. Often underlooked over his career, Carter is hoping he’ll finally get a chance to make the impact he knows he’s capable of.
