N’Keal Harry among seven players to work out for the Eagles

The Eagles are always looking to add more talent to the roster and with the team reporting for training camp on Tuesday, Philadelphia worked out seven free agents.

The team eventually signed Deon Cain out of a list that included Marcus Allen, Quinton Barrow, N’Keal Harry, DeANdre Houston-Carson, Ahofitu Maka and JaVonta Payton.

After releasing wide receiver Antonio Callaway, the Dallas Cowboys reportedly had two former New England Patriots wideouts in for a visit on Monday.

Per ESPN’s Todd Archer, former Patriots first-round draft pick N’Keal Harry and Lynn Bowden both came in for a workout.

Harry played his first three years in the NFL with the Patriots before he was traded to the Chicago Bears for a seventh-round draft pick. The former two-time First-team All-Pac-12 receiver never lived up to expectations in New England. There was hope that a change of scenery would make a difference, but Harry missed over half of the season with an ankle injury.

Perhaps the third time will be the charm if he lands elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Bowden, a former third-round draft pick, has bounced around on three different teams with only 11 game appearances and four starts to show for it.

Keep in mind, the Patriots travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys in Week 4 on their 2023 regular season schedule. So Harry and Bowden wouldn’t have to wait long to face their former teammates, if they actually end up signing with the Cowboys.

10 best remaining free agents the Eagles could target after NFL draft

The 2023 NFL draft is complete, and Philadelphia’s roster is stacked, but we’re looking at the10 best remaining free agents the Eagles could target

The 2023 NFL draft is in the books, and Philadelphia Eagles have welcomed five new drafted rookies to the roster while working to sign an undrafted free agent class.

Now, the third wave of free agency is underway, and Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has an opportunity to address some positions that still need attention following the draft.

Philadelphia is stacked on both sides of the football but could look for depth at edge rusher, punter, tight end, and linebacker.

With the draft complete, all free-agent signings will no longer count against the compensatory formula, so we could start seeing some teams making moves.

Here’s a look at some of the best available free agents the Eagles could target in this third wave of free agency:

Five veteran free-agent wide receivers that can help the Eagles

We’re looking at five veteran free-agent wide receivers that can still help the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023 NFL free agency

The Eagles have one of the top wide receiver duos in the NFL, but the depth behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith leaves a lot to be desired.

Quez Watkins is a solid No. 3 wideout, but if the season started today, either Britain Covey, Tyrie Cleveland, Greg Ward, or Devon Allen would be the fourth option on the outside.

Philadelphia could address the position in the NFL draft, while a talented veteran looking to play for a winning organization could be the recipe as well.

With the NFL draft a month away, here are five veteran wide receivers that can still help the Eagles in 2023.

Bears 2023 free agency preview: Could a N’Keal Harry reunion happen?

N’Keal Harry was rarely targeted but always managed to make a play when his number was called. He’s next in our 2023 free agent preview.

NFL free agency will be here before we know it, and the Chicago Bears have plenty of players set to hit the market. From key starters to valuable reserves, general manager Ryan Poles will have important decisions to make about who to bring back.

Here at Bears Wire, we’re going through each individual player and breaking down their 2022 performance and whether or not they fit in the Bears’ long-term plans.

Up next is wide receiver N’Keal Harry, who the Bears acquired via trade last offseason. But after getting limited touches, will there be any interest in bringing him back?

Bears 2023 offseason preview: Where does Chicago stand at wide receiver?

Our offseason position previews continue with WRs, a group that was bolstered during the 2022 season but still needs a difference maker.

The 2023 offseason is officially in full swing, and the Chicago Bears are gearing up for what should be one of the busiest springs in recent memory.

Armed with $98.6 million in cap space, general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus will have plenty of opportunities to improve the team roster in free agency, while also needing to make key decisions on which players they should let walk.

Here at Bears Wire, we’re going position by position to break down where Chicago stands entering the 2023 offseason. Next up is wide receiver, a position that was bolstered during the 2022 season, but one that could use another difference maker.

Bears 2022 WR review: New faces fail to make a difference

Our next Bears position review focuses on the wide receivers, a group that featured many new players who disappointed as a whole.

The Chicago Bears wrapped the 2022 season with a 3-14 record, which culminated in a 10-game losing streak. But there’s still reasons to be optimistic about the future, including a boatload of salary cap space, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft and the emergence of quarterback Justin Fields.

Here at Bears Wire, we’re going position by position through the 2022 Bears and grading every player. After looking at quarterbacks and running backs, we’re staying on offense with the wide receivers, a group that featured many new faces but disappointed as a whole in 2022.

Dante Pettis is the latest Bears WR to be dealing with an injury

A thin wide receiver corps just took another hit as Dante Pettis tweaked his ankle during Wednesday’s practice.

The last month has not been kind to Chicago Bears wide receivers. Since late November, they have been without Darnell Mooney, Chase Claypool, Equanimeous St. Brown, and N’Keal Harry for an extended period of time. Now, Dante Pettis is the latest player to pop up on the injury report.

According to Dan Wiederer of The Chicago Tribune, Pettis suffered an ankle injury during Wednesday’s practice. Although he was listed as a limited participant, his status could be in doubt this weekend when the Bears face the Detroit Lions.

Claypool and St. Brown did not practice yet again and could be in danger of missing another game in a row and Mooney has been out for the season due to a broken ankle suffered in late November against the New York Jets. If Pettis were to miss, the top Bears receivers would be Harry, Byron Pringle, and Velus Jones Jr.

Pettis, the former 2018 second-round pick, has been the team’s third or fourth receiving option all season long. Playing in all 15 games, Pettis has 17 catches for 226 yards and three touchdowns, the most of any Bears wide receiver this season. He’s also the team’s primary punt returner, averaging 9.7 yards per return this season.

More information will be available following Thursday’s injury report but it’s possible the Bears are down yet another player in the passing game for Justin Fields.

The Bears, meanwhile, are playing for pride, development, and even draft at this point as the season draws closer to an end.

With temperatures likely in the single digits come kickoff, this game could become a battle of attrition. But that doesn’t mean we won’t see some impressive individual performances either. Here are our bold predictions for Bears vs. Bills.
