Elite wide receiver Nick Marsh has Auburn in top group

He has already scheduled an official visit to Auburn.

Four-star prospect [autotag]Nick Marsh[/autotag] is one of the top receivers in the country and on Saturday he announced his top group of schools and the Auburn Tigers made the cut.

The River Rouge, Michigan native also included Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Kansas, UCLA, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Michigan, Oregon, and Maryland.

Marsh, who checks in at 6-foot-3, is exactly the type of big-bodied wide receiver that [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] loves to feature in his offenses. He visited Auburn on March 23 and is set to take an official visit to the Plains on June 16.

He is the No. 86 overall player and No. 14 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 3 player from Michigan.

Marsh has the physical tools to make an immediate impact at the next level and should be able to thrive in the red zone and make contested catches.

Michigan State football makes top 12 for former commit Nick Marsh

MSU has made the top 12 in the recruitment reset for in-state 4-star WR Nick Marsh

Nick Marsh was the first player to pull the trigger and join Michigan State’s 2024 recruiting class last year. Since then, Marsh has decided to back off of that commitment and reopen his recruitment.

Now, Marsh has dropped his latest top 12, in the reset of his recruitment.

Michigan State is featured in the top 12 alongside Auburn, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Kansas, Penn State, UCLA, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oregon and Maryland.

Ex-Michigan State WR commit visits Penn State

Can Penn state win over this former Michigan State commit on the recruiting trail?

What has been missing from Penn State’s growing class of 2024 commitments are the skill position players. Prior to the most recent commitment on Friday, there were zero wide receivers or running backs in the class.

Penn State is looking to change that by scooping up one of the most coveted wide receivers in the country.

[autotag]Nick Marsh[/autotag] is a four-star wide receiver from the state of Michigan. He is 6’3″ and 200 pounds and earned the name “Baby Megatron” because he plays so similar to former NFL star [autotag]Calvin Johnson[/autotag].

On3’s industry ranking takes the average from the four big recruiting rating services. He is ranked as the 71st player in the country and the number 14 wide receiver in his class according to the industry ranking.

Marsh had initially been headed to Michigan State when he committed to the Spartans in late July of 2022. He recently reopened his recruitment when he decommitted from Michigan State in early March.

Penn State wasted no time trying to get involved in his recruitment. Marsh announced on his Twitter page that he had visited Penn State on Thursday.

Right now it looks like the recruitment could be an uphill battle.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Michigan State in the lead to get their former commit back into the building with a 35.3% chance. The other major instate school, Michigan, is second at 24.8% and Auburn sits third at 21.3%.

Penn State is tied with Tennessee in fourth place, holding a 4.8% chance.

It looks like Marsh is going to take his time going through the process. He recently visited Tennessee last week and plans to visit Auburn again during the middle of June according to On3.

This would be a huge recruiting victory for [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] if he’s able to pry one of the top prospects from Michigan and get him into the Penn State program.

Four-star WR Nick Marsh to visit Auburn

He was previously committed to Michigan State before backing off his pledge earlier in March.

Four-star [autotag]Nick Marsh[/autotag] was committed to Michigan State for over seven months before reopening his recruitment on March 7 and Auburn has wasted no time getting involved with the wide receiver.

Wide receiver coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] offered him a scholarship on March 8 and Marsh has already scheduled a visit to the Plains. He told Allen Trieu of 247Sports that he will be visiting Auburn on March 24.

Marsh is the No. 72 overall player and No. 12 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite ranking. The River Rouge native is also the No. 3 player from Michigan.

Auburn is looking to land multiple wide receivers in the 2024 class and the 6-foot-3, 195-pounder is exactly the kind of impact receiver they need.

The Tigers have already landed commitments from four-star quarterback Walker White and four-star cornerbacks Jayden Lewis and A’Mon Lane.

Michigan WR with popular nickname looking forward to getting in touch with Clemson

In a lot of ways, Nick “Megatron” Marsh resembles Calvin Johnson. It’s no wonder that he’s earned the moniker that made Johnson into a household name. While he isn’t Johnson, or at least quite yet, the Class of 2024 wide receiver out of Michigan’s …

In a lot of ways, Nick “Megatron” Marsh resembles Calvin Johnson.

It’s no wonder that he’s earned the moniker that made Johnson into a household name.

While he isn’t Johnson, or at least quite yet, the Class of 2024 wide receiver out of Michigan’s River Rouge High School is already becoming a prospect that college football fans should begin to get themselves acquainted with.

Marsh (6-3, 195) ranks as the No. 18 receiver, No. 80 overall prospect and No. 1 recruit in the state of Michigan for the 2024 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Marsh named the University of Michigan, Ole Miss and Tennessee as the three schools that are currently sticking out in his recruitment. Though, Clemson is a program that Marsh is hoping and looking forward to getting in touch with.

“Clemson, they always have some dawg receivers coming out of there,” Marsh told The Clemson Insider. “So, that would be my main interest in Clemson.”

Marsh’s recruitment has begun to take off as he’s been able to travel the country and get his name out there. It’s only just the beginning for the talented Michigan receiver.

He has been on multiple game day visits to the local colleges — Michigan and Michigan State — though he was able to travel a lot more this past summer and take in some camps across the nation.

Marsh says that he’s hoping to get down to the Dabo Swinney Camp next summer.

He currently holds Power 5 offers from programs like Arizona State, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, Penn State and West Virginia, in addition to the three big schools listed above.

Now that we’ve touched on Marsh as a recruit, who is he as a player?

“I would say it’s being able to catch the ball at will in certain situations and certain moments,” Marsh said when asked to describe his play style and his strengths. “Just being able to keep grinding no matter how out of control the game gets. I’m really just that type of player.

While it’s easy to conclude where that “Megatron” nickname comes from — yes, it has to do with Marsh’s build, his hometown and his playstyle — but there’s more to it.

It’s more than just a nickname.

“It’s more of my playstyle,” he said. “Since little league, I’ve been able to go up and grab the ball, jump over people and make some amazing catches. They just all started to call me ‘Megatron’ and the name started to get real big as I got older, so I really took it and now people look at me as ‘Megatron.’ I just try to be a big inspiration on a lot of people, so I try to take the name seriously now.”

Johnson has become Marsh’s football ideal, so to speak. He takes bits and pieces of the Detroit Lions Hall of Famer wide receiver’s game and tries to make it his own.

“Growing up, I watched the Detroit Lions play on TV a lot,” Marsh said. “I’ve seen Calvin Johnson out there catching balls. I would just take piece by piece of his game and just study it. Now, I try to go out on the field and reflect it.”
