Rivals FutureCast favors the Oklahoma Sooners in recruitment of 4-Star OL Grant Brix

The Oklahoma Sooners appear to be trending in a positive direction for 2024 four-star OL Grant Brix.

The Oklahoma Sooners are hoping to close out a strong 2024 recruiting class with a bang. Currently, the No. 7 team in the 247Sports team composite rankings, Oklahoma could see more talent coming their way by the end of the cycle.

In the last week, the Sooners have received a commitment from 3-star OL Daniel Akinkunmi and positive momentum for four-star safety Michael Boganowski and four-star offensive lineman Eddy Pierre-Louis.

Another player that the Sooners are trying to earn a commitment from is four-star offensive lineman Grant Brix.

Brix, who hails out of Logan, Iowa, is the No. 75 prospect in the 247Sports composite and the No. 5 offensive tackle in the class. He’s the No. 1 prospect in the state of Iowa and has an extensive offer sheet that includes 24 Power Five programs.

The Oklahoma Sooners will have to contend with Nebraska and Kansas State, but this latest projection is an encouraging sign in Oklahoma’s pursuit.

Pair of predictions favor Oklahoma Sooners for 5-Star DL David Stone

For the second time in as many days, recruiting predictions favor the Oklahoma Sooners for 2024 five-star defensive lineman David Stone.

In the final days before he’s set to make his announcement, the talk of college football recruiting is focused on [autotag]David Stone[/autotag]. In arguably the most high-profile defensive recruitment of the last decade, the Sooners are closing in on one of the top players in the class.

For the second day in a row, the Oklahoma Sooners were predicted to land the five-star defensive line prospect. After Spartan Tailgate’s Justin Thind flipped his 247Sports crystal ball prediction to the Sooners on Wednesday, Adam Gorney and Clint Cosgrove of Rivals issued FutureCasts favoring the Sooners.

Though predictions aren’t commitments, it’s a positive sign that the Sooners remain in a good place in his recruitment.

Oklahoma’s been in need of someone with Stone’s ability to disrupt from the interior. They’ve had elite players on the edge and even good players at defensive tackle, but it’s been some time since they’ve had that truly transformative presence at defensive tackle.

In order to earn his commitment, the Oklahoma Sooners will have to hold off the Miami Hurricanes, who have made the biggest push in recent weeks.

Stone holds offers from 31 Power Five schools. His top six included Oklahoma, Miami, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Oregon, and Florida. While each offers a unique opportunity for the No. 6 player in the 247Sports composite, it appears his recruitment has come down to the Sooners and the Hurricanes.

We’ll find out Saturday night where Oklahoma native and IMG Academy star will be playing his college football. Stone’s set to announce his commitment at halftime of IMG Academy’s season opener.

New Crystal Ball predicts Oklahoma to land 5-star DL David Stone

A new crystal ball prediction flipped from Michigan State to Oklahoma overnight ahead of five-star DL David Stone’s commitment on Saturday.

When you’re the Oklahoma Sooners, you’re destined to be in a number of high-profile recruitments. With Brent Venables in town toting his illustrious career, the Sooners will be in position for a lot of the top defensive prospects year to year.

Given the top players that Oklahoma’s been in consideration for, there may not be a more important recruitment that they’ve undertaken than the one for five-star defensive line prospect [autotag]David Stone[/autotag]. Stone is set to announce his decision on Saturday, December 26.

The five-star defensive lineman hails from Del City, Okla., just south of Oklahoma City, and plays his football at Florida powerhouse IMG Academy. With his commitment day approaching on Saturday, it looks like the Sooners are in a favorable position.

Overnight, Michigan State Insider for 247Sports, Justin Thind, flipped his crystal ball prediction from the Spartans to the Sooners.

Thind joins 247Sports national recruiting director Steve Wiltfong and director of scouting Andrew Ivins favoring the Sooners. Wiltfong and Ivins predictions came back in 2022, so Thind’s prediction flip just days away from a commitment is notable.

Stone’s been tied to the Sooners for a long time. Growing up in the state and with strong relationships with [autotag]Todd Bates[/autotag] and [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag], it’s long been thought that Oklahoma would be the team to beat. However, they’ve had to hold off strong recruitments from Michigan State, Miami, and a number of other high-level Power Five programs along the way.

The Spartans were at one time thought to be the biggest contender for the Oklahoma Sooners. Most recently, the Miami Hurricanes have made a strong push for the five-star defensive lineman. Then there was always the Alabama and Nick Saban threat.

Though the crystal ball flip is promising, anything can happen in the final days of a high-profile recruitment for one of the nation’s best prospects. The Oklahoma Sooners are in a good spot, but can’t let up in their pursuit of David Stone before Saturday and even until the early signing period or national signing day.

It’s an encouraging place to be, but Todd Bates, Miguel Chavis, Brent Venables, and Ted Roof won’t take their foot off the gas until the signature hits the page and that page is faxed in.

Oklahoma Sooners pick up prediction for 2024 3-star athlete Andy Bass

OUInsider’s Parker Thune flipped his Rivals FutureCast from Syracuse to Oklahoma for 2024 three-star ATH Andy Bass.

The Oklahoma Sooners are looking to close the offseason by locking up commitments from several 2024 prospects over the next few weeks. One player they’ve picked up momentum for in recent days is Heritage Hall three-star athlete [autotag]Andy Bass[/autotag].

Bass dropped his top three on Sunday: the Oklahoma Sooners, Kansas State Wildcats and Syracuse Orangemen.

On Monday morning, Rivals and OUInsider’s Parker Thune flipped his Rivals futurecast that once favored the Orange to the Sooners.

Bass, who played quarterback for his high school squad is being considered at running back and slot wide receiver for the Sooners. An elite athlete, Bass is able to make plays in the open field with fantastic lateral agility and breakaway speed.

If the Sooners land Bass as part of their 2024 recruiting class, Jeff Lebby would have another fantastic athlete to get the ball to in the running game or the passing attack. Oklahoma already has tight end Davon Mitchell and running backs Taylor Tatum and Xavier Robinson. Wide receivers Zion Kearney, Zion Ragins, Ivan Carreon, Dozie Ezukanma and K.J. Daniels give the Sooners an incredible stable of playmakers for Lebby to work with once they get on campus.

A team can’t have too many playmakers and with Thune’s prediction favoring the Sooners, it looks as if Oklahoma is on the verge of landing one of the best playmakers in the Sooner State.

Fresh crystal ball predicts Oklahoma to land 4-star DL Nigel Smith

Tuesday evening, the Oklahoma Sooners received a fresh prediction to land top 100 defensive lineman Nigel Smith.

The Oklahoma Sooners have been working overtime to build a defensive line class that can lay the foundation for their move to the SEC.

A strong defensive line is how Brent Venables had success at Oklahoma. It’s how he helped Clemson win national championships. And the Sooners are looking to stockpile as much talent along the defensive front as they can.

The plan received a bit of a boost on Tuesday evening when Horns 247’s Jordan Scruggs issued a crystal ball prediction favoring the Oklahoma Sooners in the recruitment of four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Nigel Smith[/autotag].

247Sports joins Rivals and On3 in favoring the Oklahoma Sooners in this top-100 recruitment.

The Texas Longhorns are another of the teams on the shortlist for Smith. Also on the list are Ohio State, Penn State, Texas A&M and Rutgers.

Smith is the No. 84 player in the country according to the 247Sports composite and the No. 12 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle.

At 6 feet, 5 inches and 260 pounds, Smith has the size to be a force at multiple spots along the defensive line. He’s an athletic player that plays with really good technique and a motor that will not quit. Smith is quick off the line of scrimmage, using a great first step to work through the offensive line to make plays in the backfield.

Oklahoma has a pair of defensive linemen committed to the 2024 class. [autotag]Wyatt Gilmore[/autotag] and [autotag]Jayden Jackson[/autotag] are just the first in a grand plan set forth by [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag], [autotag]Todd Bates[/autotag] and [autotag]Miguel Chavis[/autotag] to construct a blue-chip defensive line through the 2024 class.

In addition to Smith, the Sooners are favored to land [autotag]Williams Nwaneri[/autotag] and [autotag]David Stone[/autotag]. Oklahoma is also in hot pursuit of Danny Okoye, Dominick McKinley and Zina Umeozulu.

There’s no telling if they’ll land all eight of their defensive line targets in the cycle, but with the way events are unfolding, the Sooners could add as many as six of these blue-chip talents.

Sooners pick up Rivals FutureCast for 2024 in-state OL Josh Aisosa

Edmond Santa Fe’s Josh Aisosa predicted to land with the Oklahoma Sooners by Brandon Drumm of OUInsider and Rivals.

As was the case a year ago, as the heat turned up during the summer months, so did the Oklahoma Sooners on the recruiting trail.

If there’s been a position that hadn’t seen much momentum, it’s the offensive line group. At this point, only Isaiah Autry is committed to the Sooners’ 2024 recruiting class. However, that could be changing soon. Guard Eugene Brooks plans to announce his pledge on Tuesday.

Another offensive lineman the Sooners are trending positively for is Edmond Santa Fe standout Josh Aisosa.

After predictions favoring Oklahoma came through last week, the in-state prospect was projected to land with this Sooners on Monday by OUInsider’s and Rivals’ Brandon Drumm.

Aisosa is a physical tackle prospect that looks to maul everyone he gets his hands on. He’s an athletic player that is able to move well in space and could play both tackle and guard at the collegiate level. He’s the No. 13 player in the state of Oklahoma, according to 247Sports.

In addition to Oklahoma, Aisosa holds offers from Iowa State, Tulsa, Army, Eastern Michigan, Navy, North Texas, Sam Houston State, Texas State and Central Arkansas.

The offer sheet may not be full of Power Five offers at this point, but Aisosa has the size and skills to be a late riser in the 2024 recruiting cycle. And if Bill Bedenbaugh is issuing an offer, something about the player will translate to the collegiate level.

Oklahoma Sooners receive Rivals FutureCast for 2024 5-star DT David Stone

New Rivals FutureCast favors the Oklahoma Sooners in the recruitment of 2024 five-star defensive lineman David Stone.

The Oklahoma Sooners have been on a recruiting tear in recent weeks, rising into the top 20 of the 247Sports team rankings for the 2024 cycle. Over the last week, Oklahoma’s added four-star defensive tackle Jayden Jackson, four-star wide receiver Zion Ragins, and composite five-star running back Taylor Tatum.

Well, the momentum isn’t slowing down for Oklahoma heading into the second-to-last weekend in July.

On Friday evening, Rivals recruiting analyst Cole Patterson issued a FutureCast favoring the Oklahoma Sooners in the recruitment of priority target David Stone.

Stone, a native Oklahoman who plays his ball at IMG Academy, is one of the top players in the 2024 recruiting class. He’s the No. 10 player in the nation, according to Rivals and 247Sports, and the No. 2 defensive tackle in the class.

The Sooners have long been one of the favorites to land David Stone’s commitment, but as one of the top players in the class, he’s been targeted by a number of Power Five schools across the country. He has 34 offers on his ledger, with 31 of those coming from Power Five programs. Of the 16 teams that will represent the SEC starting in 2024, Stone has offers from 12 of them, including Alabama, Texas A&M, Texas, Florida, and Tennessee.

Though the battle has long been between Oklahoma, Oregon, Miami, Michigan State, and the Aggies, the Sooners look to have gained some traction. As the Sooners look to put together what could be another top-five class, David Stone could be a cornerstone player for Oklahoma as it makes the jump to the SEC.

Oklahoma Sooners now favored to land 2024 4-star DT Jayden Jackson

The Oklahoma Sooners are picking up momentum in the recruitment for four-star DT Jayden Jackson after a flurry of predictions on Wednesday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Sooners are turning the tide in the recruitment of four-star defensive tackle Jayden Jackson.

On Wednesday afternoon, a flurry of predictions were issued by On3 national recruiting analyst Gerry Hamilton, SoonerScoop’s Josh McCuistion and Rivals Miami Insider Frank Tucker, picking the Oklahoma Sooners as Jackson’s landing spot. Tucker flipped his pick from the Hurricanes to the Sooners.

Jackson, a teammate of five-star DT [autotag]David Stone[/autotag] at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, looked to be trending away from the Oklahoma Sooners and toward the Texas Longhorns or Miami Hurricanes. Instead, Brent Venables and Todd Bates put the work in to change the trajectory in the recruitment.

The Oklahoma Sooners haven’t been shy about their intentions to bolster their defensive line through the 2024 recruiting class. High-profile recruitments of [autotag]Williams Nwaneri[/autotag] and David Stone have garnered most of the attention, but earning a commitment from Jackson would be huge for the Sooners.

At 6 feet, 2 inches and 300 pounds, Jackson has the strength to be a nose tackle in the SEC. He’s equally adept at defending the run and rushing the passer because of his quick get off and tremendous athleticism for a player his size.

Here’s what I said about Jackson when he dropped his top 12 in April, which included the Oklahoma Sooners.

Jackson is a 6-foot-2, 300-pound defensive tackle that is the definition of a people mover. He is quick off the line of scrimmage and displays really good play strength. Jackson can dart through the line to get into the backfield or utilize his strength to defeat double teams at the point of attack. – Williams, Sooners Wire

So much of what Brent Venables wants to be about stems from what he gets out of his defensive tackles. What made him so successful at Oklahoma in the past and during his time at Clemson was All-American caliber defensive tackle play from Tommie Harris, Gerald McCoy, Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence.

While Nwaneri and Stone represent the big fish in the recruiting class, Jackson isn’t far behind in terms of potential to make a huge impact.

The Oklahoma Sooners have to get better in the trenches to compete in the SEC. The great teams, Georgia, Alabama and, at times, LSU, have had dominant offensive and defensive lines. For the Sooners to compete, landing Jackson to go along with their other highly-regarded defensive line targets helps set Oklahoma on a trajectory where it can contend for SEC and national championships.

Jackson plans to commit on July 13 at 5 p.m. CT on 247Sports “College Football Recruiting Show.”

Sooners receive another prediction for No. 1 running back

Though the buzz has died down, the predictions favoring the Oklahoma Sooners for the nation’s No. 1 running back have not.

While the noise that the nation’s No. 1 running back recruit in the 2024 class could commit any day has died down, the predictions favoring Oklahoma have not.

The Sooners received another prediction for Taylor Tatum. This one comes from Texas Longhorns insider for Rivals, Brandon Holland.

The Sooners hold a strong lead over the USC Trojans. They have a 100% crystal ball rating with 247Sports, a 60.4% advantage on On3 Sports and a 100% futurecast prediction on Rivals.

It once felt like an announcement could be made any day, but the Sooners continue to wait. Obviously, the longer this goes on, the more opportunities USC has to get back in this race.

Some reports said Tatum wanted a lot of the noise to quiet before an announcement. But for now, Oklahoma just has to wait and see when Tatum feels the time is right.

There’s no doubt about it. The work Demarco Murray and the Oklahoma baseball staff have done has put them in a great spot to land the talented running back.

But as we’ve seen with any talented player, the longer these things go on, the crazier things can get. USC is definitely not out of it yet, but Oklahoma does sit in a good place.

Sooners target Ivan Carreon decommits from Texas Tech

Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver target Ivan Carreon decommits from the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Another prediction favors OU in his recruitment.

The Oklahoma Sooners have been picking up momentum on the recruiting trail, with four commitments in the last couple of weeks. The Sooners are still getting good news. Four-star wide receiver [autotag]Ivan Carreon[/autotag] decommitted from Texas Tech on Thursday evening.

The Sooners welcomed Carreon to camp back in the early part of June and subsequently issued an offer to the blue-chip wide receiver. Oklahoma wide receivers coach [autotag]Emmett Jones[/autotag] had been recruiting Odessa, Texas prospect while he was in the same position at Texas Tech. Now with the Sooners, Oklahoma looks to be gaining significant ground in Carreon’s recruitment.

Carreon is an impressive athlete. Not only does he have incredible size at 6-foot-6, but he moves really well in the open field. He’s got really good agility to make defenders miss and displays great breakaway speed to run away with the defense.

He’s a smooth route runner that uses his frame to his advantage and catches the football away from his body.

Though there hasn’t been a 247Sports crystal ball issued in his recruitment, Carreon’s been predicted to the Sooners by SoonerScoop’s Josh McCuistion and On3’s Sam Spiegelman. OUInsider’s Parker Thune has also issued a prediction favoring the Sooners in his recruitment.

Carreon’s a consensus four-star prospect, a top 250 prospect overall, and is considered a top 42 wide receiver prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

The Oklahoma Sooners have already added wide receivers [autotag]Zion Kearney[/autotag], [autotag]K.J. Daniels[/autotag], and [autotag]Dozie Ezukanma[/autotag] and look to be on the verge of adding Ivan Carreon to their ranks. Though listed as a wide receiver, there’s a chance the Sooners could put him to work as a tight end that splits out into the slot or out wide in the passing game.

Update:

Since Ivan Carreon’s decommitment, the Oklahoma Sooners have been predicted to land the four-star wide receiver by OUInsider’s Parker Thune and Texas Tech Insider’s Ben Golan and Jarrett Ramirez.
