Nebraska men’s basketball sign pair of prospects for 2024 class

Nebraska signed two prospects as part of their 2024 recruiting class on Wednesday

On Wednesday, the Nebraska Cornhuskers men’s basketball program signed a pair of prospects as part of their 2024 recruiting class.

The headliner of the class is four-star prospect Nick Janowski. The Pewaukee, Wisconsin native has been committed to the Huskers since April, picking Nebraska over Marquette, Wisconsin, USC, Iowa State Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and Iowa.

The 6-foot-3 shooting guard is listed as a four-star prospect by both ESPN and Rivals, with the latter ranking him as the 111th-best player in the nation and the 25th-best shooting guard.

The Huskers also signed three-star small forward Braden Frager. The Lincoln native was originally a member of the Huskers’ 2025 recruiting class but announced on Wednesday that he will be graduating high school early and will enroll this upcoming summer.

Frager announced his commitment back in October, picking the Huskers over Bryant, Creighton, Iowa, Iowa State, and Northwestern.

On the court, Nebraska will return to action on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. CT with a home matchup against Florida A&M. On Monday, the Huskers defeated Lindenwood 84-52 to open their season.

Four-star Wisconsin guard commits to Big Ten school

Nick Janowksi, a four-star class of 2024 guard from Pewaukee, Wisconsin committed to Nebraska on Friday.

Nick Janowksi, a four-star class of 2024 guard from Pewaukee, Wisconsin committed to Nebraska on Friday. The 6-foot-3, 200 pound athlete was offered by the Badgers but chose to go elsewhere for college. The three-time state champion will join Fred Hoiberg in Lincoln.

In what has been a consistent trend for Wisconsin basketball, the team looks likely to once again fall short of the hopes and dreams of fans who want them to get one of the top in-state recruits. The program has shifted to being more commonly associated with Minnesota players (Tyler Wahl, Steven Crowl, Nolan Winter) than those that are homegrown in the cheese state.

As of right now, the only commitment that Greg Gard and his staff have gotten from the class of 2024 is 6-foot-6 three-star forward Jack Robison from Lakeville, Minnesota, home of Tyler Wahl and Nate Reuvers.

Wisconsin recruit wins third straight state title Saturday

Nick Janowksi and the Pewaukee Pirates won their third straight Wisconsin High School basketball Division 2 state championship Saturday.

Nick Janowksi and the Pewaukee Pirates won their third straight Wisconsin High School basketball Division 2 state championship Saturday. The 6-foot-3 guard and his teammates were able to take down Whitnall 71-54, with Janowski producing 20 points, eight assists and six rebounds over nearly 35 minutes.

The junior at Pewaukee High School has now won the state championship in all three seasons of his seasons with the team and is gearing up for a potential leap to collegiate basketball in 2024. The four-star recruit received an offer from the Badgers in April 2022 and is now up to eight Division 1 offers overall.

With the Badgers expecting a lot of production from their incoming class of 2023 recruits, Greg Gard and his coaching staff could certainly benefit from grabbing the second-highest ranked player in Wisconsin for the class of 2024.

Janowski is from Pewaukee, Wis., and plays for Pewaukee High School in addition to being on the Phenom University Team Herro AAU team. The four-star recruit is the fifth-ranked combo-guard in the country and the second-ranked player in Wisconsin per 247Sports.

In addition to the offer from the Badgers, Janowski holds early offers from several big schools including Marquette, Iowa State, USC and Georgia Tech.

Although Greg Gard and Wisconsin were able to get an early offer in, it will not be easy for the Badgers to land the talented in-state recruit.
