Florida Panthers at Tampa Bay Lightning Game 3 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Tampa Bay Lightning at Florida Panthers Game 3 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Lightning host the Florida Panthers in Game 3 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Thursday. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET at Amalie Arena in Tampa. Below, we analyze the Panthers-Lightning odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Panthers are looking to find the win column for the first time in this series. They had home-ice advantage, but lost it in a seesaw battle in Game 1. After that 5-4 loss, they were dropped 3-1 in a better effort in Game 2.

The Lightning have won six of their past seven games as a favorite in the playoffs, and they’re 42-16 in the previous 58 games at home overall. It’s a tough spot for the Panthers, as they look to climb back into the series.

Panthers at Lightning: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:20 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Panthers +120 (bet $100 to win $120) | Lightning -145 (bet $145 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Panthers +1.5 (-200) | Lightning -1.5 (+170)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Panthers at Lightning: Projected starting goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (19-8-2, 2.91 GAA, .906 SV%) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (31-10-1, 2.21 GAA, .925 SV%, 5 SO)

Bobrovsky was bounced around for five goals on 40 shots in Game 1. The Panthers are paying him a lot of money, and they figure to lean upon him. However, if he struggles again, look for him to have a rather short leash.

Vasilevskiy has had no such issues in this series, especially in Game 2 when he turned aside 32 of 33 shots. He was 18-2-0 with a stellar 1.75 GAA and .936 SV% with three shutouts in 20 starts at home.

Panthers at Lightning: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Lightning 4, Panthers 2

Money line (ML)

The LIGHTNING (-145) are looking to take a commanding 3-0 series lead, and there is no reason to bet against them. Tampa Bay has Vasilevskiy in the pipes, and he has been untouchable in the crease at home. Florida looks a tad inexperienced and uneven, while the champs look like the champs.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The LIGHTNING -1.5 (+170) are worth a roll of the dice on the puck line at home – but go lightly. The Panthers +1.5 (-200) are sure to play with desperation, but in the end in the Lightning will prevail. A late empty-net goal is likely to be the difference.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-120) is the lean here. The Over/Under split in the first two games, but there is a lot of offensive firepower on both sides, and we should see an uptick in goals similar to Game 1.

Winnipeg Jets at Edmonton Oilers Game 1 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Winnipeg Jets at Edmonton Oilers Game 1 odds and lines, with NHL playoffs picks, tips and predictions.

The Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers play Game 1 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Wednesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET at Rogers Place. Below, we analyze the Jets-Oilers odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Jets dropped each of their past six meetings with the Oilers. They were outscored 12-2 in the final three outings, all in April. G Mike Smith recorded the win in two of those three games.

The key for the Oilers (surprise!) was C Connor McDavid. His most recent hat trick was April 26 in Winnipeg. He posted 7 goals and 22 points with a plus-14 rating in nine regular-season meetings while posting 2 or more points in each outing.

Jets at Oilers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:10 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Jets +125 (bet $100 to win $125) | Oilers -155 (bet $155 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Jets +1.5 (-190) | Oilers -1.5 (+155)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Jets at Oilers: Projected starting goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (24-17-3, 2.58 GAA, .916 SV%, 4 SO) vs. Mike Smith (21-6-2, 2.31 GAA, .923 SV%, 3 SO)

Hellebuyck was actually better on the road than he was at home in the regular season. He went 13-7-1 with a 2.44 GAA and .925 SV% with three shutouts in 21 games as a visitor. He struggled against the Oilers, however, and was 2-5-0 with a 3.96 GAA and .877 SV% in seven games. It was easily his worst GAA and SV% against any opponent.

Smith won four of his final five regular-season starts. He also allowed just 1 goal on 37 shots in his most recent showing against Jets April 26, winning a 6-1 game in Winnipeg. He has four straight victories against Winnipeg.

Oilers at Jets: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Oilers 5, Jets 3

Money line (ML)

The OILERS (-155) are moderate favorites to get this playoff series off on the right foot. I expect to see plenty of offense, with perhaps some nervous times for Edmonton backers. Eventually, their offense takes over for the win.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The OILERS -1.5 (+155) are a nice value at this price on home ice, although it might actually take an empty-net goal late to flip this result in your favor. As a result, I’d go lightly on this wager.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 6 (+100) is a good play at even money, as McDavid, C Leon Draisaitl and company should be able to produce plenty of offense in Game 1. The Over cashed in four of the final five games of the regular season for the Oil.

St. Louis Blues at Colorado Avalanche Game 2 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s St. Louis Blues at Colorado Avalanche Game 2 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche play Game 2 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Wednesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET at Ball Arena. Below, we analyze the Blues-Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Blues hung tough for 40 minutes, but that’s not going to get it done in the postseason, especially as decisive underdogs. St. Louis was tied 1-1 heading to the third period in Game 1 but allowed three third-period goals.

Nathan MacKinnon was the difference maker, setting the tone with an even-strength goal just 30 seconds into the third period for the game-winning tally. He also added an empty-net goal with 40 seconds remaining for the insurance.

Blues at Avalanche: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:50 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Blues +240 (bet $100 to win $240) | Avalanche -350 (bet $350 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Blues +1.5 (-105) | Avalanche -1.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Blues at Avalanche: Projected starting goalies

Jordan Binnington (18-14-8, 2.65 GAA, .910 SV%) vs. Philipp Grubauer (30-9-1, 1.95 GAA, .922 SV%, 7 SO)

Binnington stood on his head in Game 1, stopping 46 of 49 shots he faced. In fact, if not for some phenomenal saves in the first two periods, the series opener might have been a laugher. He really gave his team a great chance to win.

Grubauer wasn’t tested nearly as much as his counterpart. The Avs backstop allowed just one goal to Jordan Kyrou on 23 shots. While some goalies seem to struggle when facing few shots, he maintained his focus well.

Blues at Avalanche: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Blues 1

Money line (ML)

The Avalanche (-350) are heavy favorites that will cost you three-and-a-half times your potential return. That’s not a good long-term betting strategy, so look to the puck line instead.

AVOID.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (-115) will still cost you a little bit of juice on the puck line as they’re so heavily favored. However, Colorado is a good play based on their strong offensive players, and the fact David Perron remains on the COVID list. That means St. Louis will be missing one of its top offensive stars again.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-105) has connected in five of the past six head-to-head meetings in Denver. The Blues really seemed to miss Perron in the series opener as Kyrou was the only player able to generate any offense. Look for the Under to cash yet again in Game 2.

Nashville Predators at Carolina Hurricanes Game 2 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Nashville Predators at Carolina Hurricanes Game 2 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Nashville Predators and Carolina Hurricanes play Game 2 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Wednesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at PNC Arena. Below, we analyze the Predators-Hurricanes odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Predators hung tough with the Hurricanes, as they were tied 1-1 after 20 minutes, and 2-2 after 40 minutes. However, Nashville allowed three goals in the final period, and they were unable to keep up offensively.

The Hurricanes won all four regular-season meetings, and Game 1, on PNC Arena ice. Raleigh, N.C., was jumping with 12,000 fans allowed due to Governor Roy Cooper’s new relaxed indoor gathering restrictions.

Predators at Hurricanes: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Predators +150 (bet $100 to win $150) | Hurricanes -185 (bet $185 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Predators +1.5 (-175) | Hurricanes -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: +115 | U: -135)

Predators at Hurricanes: Projected starting goalies

Juuse Saros (21-11-1, 2.28 GAA, .927 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Alex Nedeljkovic (15-5-3, 1.90 GAA, .932 SV%, 3 SO)

Saros allowed four goals on 37 shots in Game 1. He did a good job in the first two periods, as he had his team tied up 2-2 heading to the third. He allowed goals to Nino Niederreiter and Jordan Staal, and his offense did not respond.

Nedeljkovic earned the start for Game 1, and he had some issues with rebound control in the first two periods. However, the rookie might have also had some first-playoff game jitters, especially playing in front of the largest crowd of the season. He settled down, and had a scoreless third period.

Predators at Hurricanes: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hurricanes 3, Predators 2

Money line (ML)

The HURRICANES (-185) are a little on the expensive side, and generally my personal limit for money line plays is -180. But Carolina has been money at home, and they have won seven of nine meetings with Nashville this season.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The PREDATORS +1.5 (-175) are moderately priced on the puck line, but they should be able to keep it fairly close in a much tighter Game 2. Sometimes you have to base your picks on fact, and other times on your gut feeling. I think Game 2 is going to be a hotly contested game, perhaps even decided in overtime.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-135) is the play after an Over result in Game 1. The Hurricanes posted five goals, including one empty-net goal to comfortably cash the Over. This one should have more tight checking, hitting and less scoring.

Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins Game 3 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Boston Bruins at Washington Capitals Game 3 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins play Game 3 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Wednesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET at TD Garden. Below, we analyze the Capitals-Bruins odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Capitals put up a good fight, but they were dropped 4-3 in overtime in Game 2 on home ice. Both games have ended up going to an extra session, so this series has had a razor-thin margin of error.

The Bruins bounced back in Game 2 with a 4-3 win in OT, as Brad Marchand won it just 39 seconds into the extra session to set a new franchise record for quickest overtime playoff goal.

Capitals at Bruins: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Capitals +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Bruins -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Capitals +1.5 (-185) | Bruins -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Capitals at Bruins: Projected starting goalies

Craig Anderson (2-1-0, 2.13 GAA, .915 SV%) vs. Tuukka Rask (15-5-2, 2.28 GAA, .913 SV%, 2 SO)

Anderson was tested early and often in Game 2, making 44 saves. That’s not bad for a 39-year-old that was expected to be the third-string goaltender. This will be his final start before he turns 40 Friday.

Rask allowed three goals on 39 shots, picking up the win after Nic Dowd beat him in overtime in Game 1 to saddle the veteran tendy with the loss. Rask was 7-2-1 with a 2.27 GAA and .908 SV% in 11 home starts in the regular season.

Capitals at Bruins: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bruins 4, Capitals 3

Money line (ML)

The BRUINS (-165) are moderate favorites at TD Garden in this pivotal Game 3, and they now enjoy home-ice advantage for the series after splitting in D.C. The B’s are 8-1 in the past nine at home, and 13-5 in their past 18 as a favorite.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The CAPITALS +1.5 (-185) are actually worth backing on the road. Both of the first two games in D.C. were decided in overtime. And Washington is 10-3 in their past 13 trips to Boston, so they usually play the B’s tough. The Caps are a little pricey, but they’re worth backing here.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (+100) is worth a roll of the dice, and it’s a good value at even money. The Over is 4-1-2 in the past seven meetings in this series, including 1-0-1 in the first two installments.

Minnesota Wild at Vegas Golden Knights Game 2 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Minnesota Wild at Vegas Golden Knights Game 2 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights play Game 2 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Tuesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET at T-Mobile Arena. Below, we analyze the Wild-Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

Joey Public was all over the Golden Knights in Game 1, and the Wild helped the books with a scoreless regulation and 1-0 overtime win. Joel Eriksson Ek scored his first-career OT playoff winner.

The Golden Knights have actually lost three of their five home games against the Wild this season between the regular season and playoffs, and three of the games have either gone to overtime or a shootout.

Wild at Golden Knights: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:25 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Wild +140 (bet $100 to win $140) | Golden Knights -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Wild +1.5 (-190) | Golden Knights -1.5 (+155)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: +115 | U: -140)

Wild at Golden Knights: Projected starting goalies

Cam Talbot (19-8-5, 2.63 GAA, .915 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Marc-Andre Fleury (26-10-0, 1.98 GAA, .928 SV%, 6 SO)

Talbot had the benefit of not having to face Max Pacioretty as he was sidelined due to an undisclosed injury. He shut down the Golden Knights, particularly on their vaunted power play, which was 0-for-3 in Game 1.

Fleury made NHL history in the Game 1 loss. He became the first goaltender in league history to play in 15 consecutive postseasons. He stopped 29 saves in the 1-0 OT loss. He is now just 7-14-0 in 21 starts in his career against the Wild.

Special NHL Betting Promotion!

Bet $1 on either team’s money line, WIN $100 (in free bets) if either team scores a goal in the game. Betting offer available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA and WV. Place your legal, online bets at BetMGM. New customer offer, terms and conditions apply. Bet now!

Wild at Golden Knights: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Wild 1

Money line (ML)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-165) will cost you a pretty penny, but it’s hard to imagine Vegas dropping both of its games at T-Mobile Arena. The Wild (+140) are hard on Fleury, and they are a tempting play at this price. But Vegas can’t lose both games at home, can they?

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+155) are worth a roll of the dice on the puck line as they should be able to bounce back against the pesky Wild +1.5 (-190). Vegas is already in a little trouble as teams that won Game 1 are 490-222 (68.8%) in winning a best-of-seven NHL playoff series, including 7-1 last season in the first round. Vegas can ill-afford a 0-2 hole heading to St. Paul, Minn., so expect their best here.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-140) is on the expensive side, but after just one goal in Game 1, the Under certainly looks attractive.

Tampa Bay Lightning at Florida Panthers Game 2 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Tampa Bay Lightning at Florida Panthers Game 2 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers play Game 2 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Tuesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla. Below, we analyze the Lightning-Panthers odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Lightning won a seesaw affair against the Panthers in Game 1, edging Florida 5-4 in the first-ever playoff meeting between these intrastate rivals. Tampa Bay RW Nikita Kucherov made his season debut after recovering from hip surgery and he bagged two power-play goals in the second period.

The Panthers received goals from four different scorers, including C Carter Verhaeghe against his former team. But C Brayden Point was the difference maker with two third-period goals, showing off Tampa Bay’s amazing depth.

Lightning at Panthers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:26 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Lightning -140 (bet $140 to win $100) | Panthers +115 (bet $100 to win $115)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Lightning -1.5 (+180) | Panthers +1.5 (-225)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Lightning at Panthers: Projected starting goalies

Andrei Vasilevskiy (31-10-1, 2.21 GAA, .925 SV%, 5 SO) vs. Sergei Bobrovsky (19-8-2, 2.91 GAA, .906 SV%)

Vasilevskiy stopped 35 of the 39 shots in Game 1. He trailed 4-3 early in the third period, but Point bailed him out with two goals in the final 7 minutes, including the winner with 74 seconds left in regulation.

Bobrovsky allowed goals to three different Lightning players, but Kucherov and Point got him twice apiece, and C Blake Coleman registered a shorthanded goal. That made for four special-teams goals, something Florida will certainly need to clean up if it wants to succeed in this series.

Lightning at Panthers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Lightning 4, Panthers 3

Money line (ML)

The LIGHTNING (-140) found a way to win the opener on the road, even though they didn’t play their best game. The defending champs showed off their offensive muscle, and they had it going on with the man advantage. Until the Panthers show they can lock it down defensively, keep fading Florida.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Panthers +1.5 (-225) are a little too expensive for my liking on the puck line, but they would be my play rather than backing the Lightning -1.5 (+180). Still, the best play is to AVOID and just concentrate on the money line and total.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 6 (-105) is the play even with the likes of a Vezina-caliber goaltender like Vasilevskiy in the crease for the visitors. He was beaten four times Sunday, and Florida has plenty of firepower to do it again.

The Over was a solid 5-2-1 in the eight regular-season meetings between Florida and Tampa Bay, and these teams went well Over in the series opener.

New York Islanders at Pittsburgh Penguins Game 2 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s New York Islanders at Pittsburgh Penguins Game 2 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins play Game 2 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Tuesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET at PPG Paints Arena. Below, we analyze the Islanders-Penguins odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Islanders snatched home-ice advantage from the top-seed Penguins with a 4-3 victory in overtime Sunday as deadline acquisition Kyle Palmieri played the hero with the game-winning goal.

The Penguins led 2-1 early in the second period, but Ilya Sorokin shut them down the rest of the way. Only Kasperi Kapanen was able to solve him in the final 52:43. Sorokin was making the start with Semyon Varlamov nursing a lower-body injury.

Islanders at Penguins: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Islanders +110 (bet $100 to win $110) | Penguins -135 (bet $135 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Islanders +1.5 (-250) | Penguins -1.5 (+195)
  • Over/Under: 5 (O: -140 | U: +115)

Islanders at Penguins: Projected starting goalies

Ilya Sorokin (13-6-3, 2.17 GAA, .918 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Tristan Jarry (25-9-3, 2.75 GAA, .909 SV%, 2 SO)

Sorokin was the surprise starter in Game 1 as head coach Barry Trotz said Semyon Varlamov would be available, but he sat due to a lower-body injury that apparently is more serious than initially believed. Sorokin did well stopping 39 of the 42 shots he faced.

Jarry turned aside 37 of the 41 shots he faced, but he could not keep Palmieri from being a hero in overtime. In fact, Palmieri accounted for two of his team’s four goals.

Islanders at Penguins: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Penguins 3, Islanders 2

Money line (ML)

The PENGUINS (-135) are looking for the bounce-back, and they’ll get it behind Jarry in the Steel City. Offense wasn’t a problem in Game 1 as the Pens found the back of the net three times. But the defense and goaltending broke down a little bit in the third period.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Islanders +1.5 (-250) posted the win in Game 1, and they looked like an attractive play before the game started, but the price is just too high. The same holds true for Game 2. If you like the Isles, just play them straight up. I think this is another one-goal game, but this time it goes to the home side.

AVOID, and just stick with the money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

TOTAL 5 (O: -140, U: +115) is not worth playing. I think this one comes in right on the number. It might be a little on the pricey side, but OVER 4.5 (-225) on the alternate line might be a better play if you want action on the total. But it will cost you.

St. Louis Blues at Colorado Avalanche Game 1 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s St. Louis Blues at Colorado Avalanche Game 1 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche play Game 1 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Monday. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET at Ball Arena. Below, we analyze the Blues-Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Blues head into their series as decisive underdogs, and to make matters worse they’ll be without one of their top scorers.

RW David Perron was placed on the COVID-19 protocol list on Saturday. He had 19 goals and 58 points in 56 regular-season games. LW Nathan Walker is also on the list with him. D Vince Dunn (upper body) and RW Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) are also question marks.

The Avalanche edged the Blue 5-3 in the eight-game regular-season series, but St. Louis won the two most recent meetings on home ice April 24 and 26. The Avs won three of the four meetings in Denver.

  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Blues at Avalanche: Projected starting goalies

Jordan Binnington (18-14-8, 2.65 GAA, .910 SV%) vs. Philipp Grubauer (30-9-1, 1.95 GAA, .922 SV%, 7 SO)

Binnington’s first start of the season was Jan. 13 in the opener in Colorado, and he stopped 26 of 27 shots to help the Blues pick up a 4-1 win. The good times didn’t last, as he was hammered for 4 goals on 24 shots in his next start against the Avs. Binnington went 3-4-0 with a 2.89 GAA and .909 SV% in seven games against the Avalanche.

Grubauer was tied for the NHL lead with 7 shutouts. One of those shutouts was against St. Louis, and he was 2-1-0 with a 1.68 GAA and .938 SV% in three games against the Blues.

Blues at Avalanche: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Blues 1

Money line (ML)

The Avalanche (-275) will cost you nearly three times your potential return, and that’s just too risky even with the odds stacked heavily against the Blues.

AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+100) are a much better value on the puck line at even money. Colorado finished the regular season strong, posting five straight victories to surge to the top of the standings while securing the Presidents’ Trophy.

That has been a kiss of death over the years for some teams, but this Colorado side looks tough.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-105) has cashed in four of the past five head-to-head meetings in Denver, but that’s not the only reason to back the Under.

The Blues not having Perron will disrupt their offensive flow, and Tarasenko is no certainty to play, either. St. Louis will have a problem lighting the lamp, which is good for Under bettors.
