Watch: Kyle Rudolph Sends Vikings to Second Round

the Vikings cashed in as a jump-ball was secured by Notre Dame product Kyle Rudolph, and it was the Vikings instead who marched on.

Is it just me or should the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints play in every NFL Postseason?

Favre’s interception in 2009, the Minneapolis Miracle two years back and then today, a 26-20 Vikings win in overtime that sends Minnesota to San Francisco for the Divisional Playoffs next weekend while it sends the Saints home for the year.

In a game few gave the Vikings much of a chance in it was actually the hometown Saints who had to rally just to force overtime, making a field goal with two seconds left in regulation to tie things at 20.

The Vikings won the toss in the extra period and after a long Kirk Cousins pass set Minnesota up at the Saints two, the Vikings cashed in as a jump-ball was secured by Notre Dame product Kyle Rudolph, and it was the Vikings instead who marched on.

The Vikings now advance to play the top seed in the NFC, the San Francisco 49ers next week in San Francisco.

Tight End U coming up big yet again.

Twitter compares Drew Brees to Jameis Winston after costly interception

See what Twitter had to say about New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees after he threw a costly pick against the Minnesota Vikings.

Poor Jameis Winston.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, who became the first player in NFL history to throw for 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in a season, will have to wait and see what the future holds for him with the Bucs franchise.

Head coach Bruce Arians said the team will evaluate the quarterback in the coming weeks, but that an announcement of their decision won’t be imminent.

For his part, Winston can hang his hat on the fact that he also became the first quarterback in Buccaneers history, and the eighth in NFL history, to throw for over 5,000 yards in a season.

Still, those 30 interceptions are a glaring blemish on his NFL resume. And, even though he isn’t playing this weekend in the Wild Card round of the postseason, fans on Twitter still can’t resist roasting the quarterback.

Case in point — after New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees threw a costly interception towards the ends of the first half against the Minnesota Vikings, which eventually led to a Vikings touchdown, fans compared the future Hall of Famer to the Bucs quarterback.

Take a look.

Vikings vs. Saints

When: Sunday, January 5

Time: 1:00 p.m. ET

TV: FOX

Live Stream: fuboTV (watch for free)

The Vikings come into the game as the No. 6 seed after finishing second in the NFC North behind the Packers. Minnesota lost 23-10 vs. Green Bay and 21-19 at home to the Bears in its final two regular-season games. Star running back Dalvin Cook amassed 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns this season and his health is key to the Vikings success. He sat out the past two games after getting banged up against the Chargers, but should be ready to go for Sunday. Heā€™ll be joined in the backfield by Alexander Mattison, who suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 14.Ā  Can Kirk Cousins earn his $84 million dollar contract and make key throws in the passing game? The last thing Minnesota wants is to be one dimensional against a physical Saints defense with the likes of Cam Jordan who has 15.5 sacks this season. Their run game is ranked 6th in the NFL, while their passing attack is 23rd.

For the Saints, they have something to prove. After rattling off three consecutive wins to close out the season and win another NFC South title, they finished as the No. 3 seed. Last weekend, they beat the Panthers 42-10. Drew Brees threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns to continue his record-setting year. Breesā€™ go-to wide receiver the entire season has been Michael Thomas, who broke Marvin Harrison’s single-season receptions record last weekend and has now caught 145 receptions in the 2019 campaign. Itā€™s no secret their offense relies on the air attack, but give credit to Latavius Murray and Alvin Kamara for establishing the run game. For Murray, it will be a head-to-head matchup against his former team. Can Danielle Hunter and the Viking defensive line put pressure on Brees and force the Saints to win it with the run game? Those questions and more will be answered on Sunday afternoon.

Remember when people worried about Deshaun Watson’s arm strength?

Deshaun Watson continues to make his draft-day doubters look silly with another iconic performance in the NFL Wild Card Game

It seems like an eternity ago, but there was a time when people were worried that Deshaun Watson might not be a successful NFL quarterback because of a lack of arm strength.

No, it’s true.

At the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine, Watson’s ball velocity numbers sparked plenty of debate, and concern about his pro prospects:

After an incredible career at Clemson, leading the Tigers to their first national title in three decades, Watson’s evaluation for the pros seemed to be taking a hit from the fact that his fastball was more Greg Maddux than Nolan Ryan.

Well, Maddux did all right for himself.

So has Watson, who showed off his Superman skill set in Saturday night’s overtime Wild Card win over the Buffalo Bills, leading the Texans back from a 16-0 deficit to win 22-16.

As talented and battle-tested, both against top competition and in clutch situations, as I’ve ever seen a quarterback prospect be, Watson proved himself once again on football’s biggest stage. He continues to look like a massive steal for Houston, the team that traded up to land him at No. 12 overall in the 2017 NFL draft.

I’m betting there are a few teams who would love the chance to do the top of that draft over again, radar gun be darned.

We need to stand and applaud Josh Allen’s ridiculous, hilarious wild-card game

Josh Allen played with no situation awareness and ridiculous decision making and it’s never been more fun to watch football.

The Buffalo Bills lost to the Houston Texans in overtime on Saturday, which marks a heartbreaking end to a really surprising and fun Bills year.

Buffalo’s season may be over. But what we will always have was Josh Allen’s performance on Saturday. That magnificent day of lunacy we will perhaps never see in the playoffs again.

One criticism we read about a lot of quarterbacks these days is that they are overly cautious. Checkdowns and quick outs may not be sexy, but they won’t get you benched, and for lots of NFL quarterbacks, they’re just trying to keep it simple.

On Saturday afternoon, Josh Allen did not try to keep it simple. I’m not even sure Josh Allen was playing football at some points. Josh Allen was ripping double guitar solos with fireworks coming off the fretboard and a dang live tiger on the stage.

In overtime, Josh Allen threw a 50-yard pass to his fullbackĀ in double coverage,Ā and we all forgot about it like three plays later because he did something else nuts, probably. I’m not sure. I blacked out at one point.

He attempted laterals that made no sense.Ā He had a chance to win the game in regulation, took a ridiculous sack, then got the nod to go for it on 4th-and-27, and … took another ridiculous sack.

This wasn’t like watching some doofus play Madden. This was like watching someĀ drunkĀ doofus play Madden, and it wasĀ exhilarating.Ā I feltĀ alive.Ā

We need more football like this. Forget Drew Brees and his precision. Forget Tom Brady and his calm execution under pressure. I want Josh Allen out there, every game, playing free jazz on his kazoo while simultaneously attempting a cartwheel.

Situational awareness and decision making are for the birds. Close your eyes and mash the controller buttons, Josh, you beautiful man.

We need Josh Allen in every playoff game. I need that big beautiful dolt heaving throws and lateraling to god knows who and making us all have the time of our lives.

So thank you, Josh Allen. Thank you for today. It’s a day I won’t soon forget.
