Twitter reacts to Eagles updating Lincoln Financial Field in Kelly Green for game vs. Dolphins

Philadelphia changed the midfield logo back to the 80s and and the #Eagles transformed Lincoln Financial Field to Kelly Green for Sunday’s matchup vs. Dolphins

The Eagles have are a little over 24 hours away from a huge Week 7 matchup against the Miami Dolphins (5-1) at Lincoln Financial Field.

With Philadelphia debuting the Kelly Green throwbacks for the first time since 2010, the Eagles have given the Linc a proper makeover.

Social media reacts to everything and the Kelly Green takeover of the stadium started to trend on social media.

Eagles surprisingly rank 14th overall out of 32 teams in NFL player team report cards

Philadelphia landed middle of the pack (14th) in an NFLPA Ranking/Report Card of all 32 NFL teams with air travel and accommodations at the Linc being the biggest concerns

The Eagles are one of the gold-standard franchises in the NFL, but owner Jeffrey Lurie may want to make some improvements to the way his team travels, along with accommodations for family and friends at Lincoln Financial Field.

The NFLPA recently conducted a player survey for all 32 NFL teams with the goal of better learning how teams treat players and their families.

A huge free agent tool for this year and in the future, the players union compiled results and handed out report cards using parameters such as travel, home-field accommodations, treatment of families, weight room, nutrition, training room, and head coach.

Overall team rankings from new NFLPA “report cards”

1. Vikings
2. Dolphins
3. Raiders
4. Texans
5. Cowboys
6. Packers
7. 49ers
8. Giants
9. Bills
10. Saints
11. Seahawks
12. Panthers
13. Bears
14. Eagles
15. Lions
16. Colts
17. Ravens
18. Titans
19. Jets
20. Broncos
21. Browns
22. Steelers
23. Falcons
24. Patriots
25. Rams
26. Bucs
27. Bengals
28. Jaguars
29. Chiefs
30. Chargers
31. Cardinals
32. Commanders

For Philadelphia, their overall score was raised thanks to the support staff, people who work with players, training staff, and strength coaches.

Not surprisingly, head coach Nick Sirianni is ranked as one of the most player-friendly coaches in the league. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie ranks 8th in the NFL, with 97% of the players believing he is willing to upgrade the facility.

The problem lies with the air travel and treatment for family and friends at Lincoln Financial Field.

The major concerns expressed by player respondents relate to the team’s treatment of the players and their families. They do not provide a family room for players’ families at the stadium, unlike most of the other clubs. Despite not offering this to players, they do have a family room for the family members of coaches and football operations staff. The air travel also stands out as an area where players felt there could be improvement: only 51% of players feel like they have enough room to spread out, and they are one of just eight teams in the league that do not offer their players first class seats. Players also feel that the facilities can improve – less than half of the team feel like they have enough hot and cold tub space.

According to the NFLPA, 1,300 out of the NFL’s 2,200 players took part in the confidential survey.

Not shocking, the Commanders were last on the list at No. 32 overall, followed by the Cardinals (31), Chargers (30), Super Bowl champion Chiefs (29), and Jaguars (28) rounding out the bottom five.

Where the Philadelphia Eagles landed in a ranking of NFL ticket price increases over the past 15 years

With new or renovated stadiums popping up all across the NFL over the past decade or two, it shouldn’t be a shock that fans are hit the hardest by increased ticket prices.

Star quarterbacks run the league and as ownership groups get more creative with increasing their overall revenue, raising the ticket prices has always been the simplest form of adding profits to the yearly margins.

The Action Network recently looked at ticket price increases over the past 15 years from all 32 NFL teams, and the Eagles landed just outside the top 10, at No. 12 overall.

Since the 2006 season, Philadelphia’s ticket prices have increased from $69 dollars to $127.06, an 84% markup, putting the Eagles in the middle of the pack.

The Raiders, Seahawks, Packers, 49ers, and Texans were the top 5 teams in ticket price increases, while the Jets, Chargers, Bengals, Commanders, and Patriots have the lowest percentage of increase across the league.

[jwplayer QGe7Hvia]

The COVID-19 pandemic took away the fan experience for a lot of NFL teams this season, but all wasn’t a loss, especially here in Philadelphia.

Hoping to keep fans engaged, the Eagles proposed offering season ticket holders and fans the chance to buy cardboard cutouts in a seat at Lincoln Financial Field for a $100 donation, with the proceeds going to the Eagles Autism Foundation.

As a result of the unprecedented success this season, the team announced that more than $260,000 in net proceeds were raised for the Eagles Autism Foundation.

A total of 4,900-plus cutouts were purchased by Eagles fans from all around the world in 2020 and were installed in seating sections at Lincoln Financial Field as a way to recognize and honor their unrivaled fandom.

Due to the program’s popularity and the extraordinary response amongst Eagles fans, the net proceeds have led to the Eagles Autism Foundation eclipsing the $10 million milestone mark, an impressive feat for the public charity over its first three years since launching the inaugural Eagles Autism Challenge in May 2018.

At the end of the season, Eagles fans were invited to Lincoln Financial Field to personally pick up their cutouts from the seats they were located in during the year.

Fans no longer allowed at Eagles home games due to spike in COVID-19 cases

No fans at Lincoln Financial Field due to spike in COVID-19 cases

[jwplayer F5K8SFoR]

The city of Philadelphia has now reversed course on fans being allowed inside of Lincoln Financial Field for Eagles games after new outdoor restrictions were passed down on Monday due to the ongoing health crisis and the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the region.

As a result, the Eagles will not be able to host fans at Lincoln Financial Field the team announced.

On October 13, the Eagles and the city announced a limited capacity of fans returning to Lincoln Financial Field under the guidelines set forth by the National Football League and public health experts, and with the approval of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the City of Philadelphia.

At the time stadium occupancy was limited to 7,500 total people – including players, coaches, staff, and media – for previous games against the Ravens, Giants, and Cowboys.

The Eagles have three remaining home games in the 2020 regular season, starting with a Monday night contest against Seattle on November 30.

Eagles among NFL teams set to suffer the biggest financial blow from reduced fan attendance

The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly set to lose upwards of $110 million in revenue due to reducing attendance because of the COVID-19 pandemic

[jwplayer vk0iDZc0]

All 32 NFL teams are set to suffer financially from the loss of revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but none more so than the Philadelphia Eagles. The Athletic via Team Marketing Report recently broke down the loss of revenue for all 32 teams utilizing the 2020 Fan Cost Index (FCI) released Wednesdayprovides data that specifies where the NFL stood prior to the unprecedented changes in live sports and the financial ramifications.

The FCI formula is based on the average cost of four adult non-premium tickets, single-car parking, two draft beers, four soft drinks, four hot dogs, and two adult-sized adjustable hats. The hats are a proxy for the souvenirs available at an arena or stadium. Hartweg said he spends months amassing the numbers from teams and other sources to create his formulas.

Team Marketing Report, a Chicago-based sports business intelligence firm, projects a $2.8 billion hit to NFL Gross Gameday Fan Revenues.

If Philadelphia Eagles fans could have fully attended games at 69,176 seat Lincoln Financial Field this year, it would have cost $657.22 for a family of four to cheer on the Birds.

The top five NFL fan-cost money losers:

Washington Football Team — $124.1 million
49ers — $112.4 million
Packers — $112 million
Giants — $109.9 million
Eagles — $109.1 million

Based on that projection, the Eagles without fans, or just a limited number of them at games, will lose upwards of $109 million, placing Philadelphia at No. 5 on the list of gross loss.

The five teams to lose the least money:

Browns — $62 million
Jaguars — $61.8 million
Colts — $61.6 million
Buccaneers — $48.6 million
Bengals — $38.1 million

It’ll be interesting to see how the Eagles handle 2021 from a salary cap standpoint and the loss of revenue will play a huge part in the Birds making several big moves this spring that could shake up the organization.
