Only 3 49ers named to Associated Press 2024 NFL All-Pro team

A trio of 49ers were honored for their respective campaigns as part of the Associated Press 2024 NFL All-Pro team.

49ers linebacker Fred Warner, tight end George Kittle and fullback Kyle Juszczyk were each named to the Associated Press 2024 NFL All-Pro team.

Warner was a first-team All-Pro selection defensively, while Kittle and Juszczyk were second-team All-Pro choices offensively.

Playing in all 17 games this season, Warner racked up a team-leading 131 tackles. The BYU alum also tallied seven passes defensed, five tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, two interceptions and one sack.

It marks the third season consecutively that Warner has garnered first-team All-Pro honors. The 6-foot-3, 230 pound linebacker notched 115-plus tackles for a seventh consecutive season. In the process, Warner became one of just two players since 2000 to accomplish this feat in their first seven seasons.

Kittle played in 15 games this season, catching 78 passes for 1,106 yards with eight touchdowns. The Iowa alum became one of just five NFL tight ends all-time to have registered four 1,000-yard receiving seasons in their career.

Kittle joined the ranks of Travis Kelce (7), Tony Gonzalez (4), Rob Gronkowski (4) and Jason Witten (4) in that regard.

Among NFL tight ends, Kittle’s 2024 numbers ranked fifth in receptions, third in receiving yards and tops in yards per reception. The 6-foot-4, 250 pound tight end’s four 100-yard receiving games were the most of any tight end in the league. Kittle’s eight touchdowns were also the most of an NFC tight end.

Juszczyk earned his second career All-Pro nod. The Harvard product caught 19 passes for 200 yards and a pair of receiving scores and also carried five times for 26 yards with one rushing touchdown.

Irish in the NFL: Quenton Nelson’s Historic Start

It was the second time in Nelson’s two year NFL career that the former sixth overall draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts has been named a First-Team NFL All-Pro.

The news of Quenton Nelson being named an NFL All-Pro (along with two other former Notre Dame offensive linemen) earlier Friday afternoon put him in some very rare air where only the most-elite of NFL players have gone in recent memory.

It was the second time in Nelson’s two year NFL career that the former sixth overall draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts has been named a First-Team NFL All-Pro.

Who else has ever accomplished that?

Since the AFL-NFL merger in 1971 here is the list:

Earl Campbell
Eric Dickerson
Devin Hester
Keith Jackson
Barry Sanders
Lawrence Taylor

And now add in Quenton Nelson.

That’s it.  That’s the list.

Campbell, Dickerson, Sanders and Taylor are not only in the Pro Football Hall of Fame but also regarded in the short list of best ever for the positions each played.

Hester isn’t in the Hall of Fame yet but was the greatest return man in the history of the NFL and by a wide margin.

Keith Jackson never wound up in Canton, Ohio but still had a tremendous nine year NFL career that saw him selected to five Pro Bowls and three times an All-Pro.

Nelson’s trajectory doesn’t just put him on a pace to one day make the Hall of Fame, but be one of the absolute best to ever play his position in doing so.

Perhaps he and fellow All-Pro Zack Martin (six times) will one day go in as members of the same class.

Three Notre Dame Products Named to AP NFL All-Pro First-Team

No school had more players named than the Fighting Irish, who take up three of the five spots on the First-Team offensive line, none of which come as a surprise.

The NFL announced their annual All-Pro Teams on Friday with Notre Dame being very-well represented.

How represented?

No school had more players named than the Fighting Irish, who take up three of the five spots on the First-Team offensive line, none of which come as a surprise.

Ronnie Stanley was named the left tackle after having a monster year for the Baltimore Ravens, who hold the No. 1 seed in the AFC.  It is Stanley’s first time being an All-Pro.

Joining him are guards Zack Martin of the Dallas Cowboys and Quenton Nelson of the Indianapolis Colts.

This is Martin’s sixth appearance as an All-Pro while it is the second time in two years Nelson receives the honor.

All three played at Notre Dame during Harry Hiestand’s time at the school, something we discussed earlier this week on Fighting Irish Wire.

You can find the rest of the first and second AP All-Pro teams here.

Eagles C Jason Kelce named 1st team All-Pro; Brandon Brooks, Lane Johnson snubbed

Eagles center Jason Kelce was named 1st team all pro for the third straight season

The Associated Press released their 2019-20 NFL All-Pro teams on Friday and Eagles star center Jason Kelce was named to the first-team for the third time in his career.

Eagles star right guard Brandon Brooks (9 votes) finished third at right guard in AP voting behind Zack Martin (24) and Marshal Yanda (16).

Lane Johnson, arguably the best at his position, (3) was behind Ryan Ramcyzk and Mitchell Schwartz at RT.

Fletcher Cox and Malcolm Jenkins each only got one vote this year.
