New Era’s officially licensed NFL hat forgot Broncos won Super Bowl XXXIII

New Era is selling a hat officially licensed by the NFL that credits the Broncos for Super Bowls 32 and 50 but omits 33. Oops.

Whelp, this was a bit of an oversight.

New Era has a 59FIFTY hat on Fanatics’ website celebrating the Denver Broncos’ two Super Bowl victories. There’s just one problem: Denver has won three Super Bowls.

The hat is titled “Denver Broncos New Era Super Bowl Champions Patch 59FIFTY Fitted Hat – Khaki/Orange” on Fanatics’ website and it is listed for $55.99. All ten custom sizes are in stock, presumably a sign that this cap has not been selling well.

The back of the hat says “Two Time Super Bowl Champions” and shows the logos of Super Bowl XXXII and Super Bowl 50. Somehow, the team’s Super Bowl XXXIII title was overlooked during the design process.

Here’s the description of the hat on Fanatics.com:

Celebrate the Denver Broncos’ history by grabbing this Super Bowl Champions Patch 59FIFTY cap from New Era. This truly one-of-a-kind cap features bold Denver Broncos graphics embroidered on the crown, while on the back you’ll find the embroidery signifying their number of wins. This is a must-have hat for any die-hard fan.

Yeah, it’s probably safe to say die-hard fans aren’t buying this. The hat has one five-star review (ha!) and a pair of one-star reviews on the website. We’re guessing the listing won’t be active for much longer.

The Braves were told to stop the Big Hat celebration after New Era complained to MLB

New Era was really that petty.

As MLB looks to inject more personality into the game and attract new fans, the league has allowed teams use props for home run celebrations. It’s a quirky gimmick that you’d see in college and minor-league games, but honestly, it’s fun to watch how creative MLB teams have gotten with their unique dugout celebrations.

But there’s apparently a limit to that fun, and for MLB, the Atlanta Braves crossed that line when their home run celebration upset corporate sponsor New Era.

For Braves home runs this season, the hitter of the homer has donned a Big Hat while going down a high-five line in the dugout. The celebration formed somewhat organically when a fan gave the hat to A.J. Minter, and the team thought it would be a fun prop for the HR celly.

Yet, for the past few games, Braves fans have noticed the Home Run Hat’s absence in the dugout despite plenty of Braves home runs. On Wednesday, WSB-TV in Atlanta confirmed that MLB nixed the celebration at the request of New Era, which is the official on-field cap supplier for MLB.

Of course, New Era is a business that pays millions for the MLB cap rights. It doesn’t like seeing a team so enthusiastic about a hat that New Era cannot profit from. That’s the corporate nature of professional sports in this country. But at the same time, New Era has to realize that it isn’t competing with a novelty big hat company that charges $100 for hats and appeared on Shark Tank. It’s petty and draws more attention to the hat than it would have gotten had New Era just allowed the Braves to have their fun.

MLB fans weren’t thrilled with New Era for complaining about the hat either.

LOOK: New Era reveals Chiefs’ 2021 NFL draft caps

The designs for the 2021 NFL draft caps by New Era have been revealed.

New Era has launched its latest collection of draft caps, this time for the 2021 NFL draft.

This collection features the hats that players will wear when they’re selected by a team during the upcoming draft. That process will still be a little different this year, but it will feature more of a return to the norm with several top players set to attend the draft in person. When those players are selected in the draft, they’ll come out on stage and put on one of these hats.

Each season, New Era comes up with a brand new design for their draft caps. They’ve had some hits in the past, like the NFL draft caps that featured city skylines in 2015. Last year, the designs were supposedly inspired by the lights on the Las Vegas Strip as the draft was set to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada prior to its in-person cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year the hats feature an embroidered Chiefs patch on the front with a small Arrowhead logo and Kansas City in bold lettering. There’s also a contrasting visor and mesh panels on the side and the back. You’ll also find an NFL Shield at the rear, featuring the Chiefs’ team colors.

You can buy this collection of draft hats at neweracap.com, or any of your favorite sporting goods and headwear retailers. Retail pricing starts at $31.99.

These aren’t as simplistic as the caps launched ahead of the 2020 NFL draft, but they seem to be better than the ones released back in 2019, which were inspired by the Kansas City seal. Let us know your thoughts about the newest designs on Facebook and Twitter.

New Era releases Seattle Seahawks 2020 NFL Draft cap

Ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft, New Era has released the Seattle Seahawks official draft cap.

Things have basically been business as usual around the NFL, with the start of free agency and the new league year despite the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the nation. In fact, the league is still planning to go forward with the NFL draft in April after instituting a number of changes to the format to ensure safety.

That being said, New Era has now released the official 2020 NFL Draft caps for all 32 clubs around the league, including the Seahawks.

“The stakes are high with the 2020 NFL Draft Collection,” reads the product description. “Inspired by the iconic neon signs of Las Vegas, the Seattle Seahawks Official NFL Draft Low Profile 59FIFTY Fitted Cap features a silicone Seahawks logo at the front panels with a team slogan embroidered at the right-wear side. Additional details include a team color NFL Shield at the rear and a black undervisor.”

Seattle’s black fitted polyester cap comes in a number of sizes and retails for $39.99. To order your New Era 2020 NFL Draft cap, click here.

New Era reveals Chiefs’ 2020 NFL draft caps

How do you feel about the newest draft cap designs for the Kansas City Chiefs?

New Era has launched its collection of draft caps for the 2020 NFL draft. This collection features the hats that players will wear when they’re selected by a team in the draft. That whole process might be a little different this year, with the NFL draft changing to a studio setting.

Last season, the designs for the draft caps were met with criticism, with each team design being inspired by the city flag or crest. The Chiefs’ hat was a particular brand of ugly. Kansas City didn’t have a first-round draft pick after the Frank Clark trade, so no player wore the cap during the 2019 NFL draft.

This time around it seems that New Era has made some better design choices. The designs for 2020 were inspired by the neon signs that fill the Las Vegas strip. The NFL draft, of course, was scheduled to take place in Vegas prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

Each hat features the neon Chiefs logo, with the neon Chiefs Kingdom, emblazoned on the side. They also have a neon NFL logo on the back of each hat.

You can buy from this latest collection of sideline hats at neweracap.com, or any of your favorite sporting goods and headwear retailers. Retail pricing starts at $33.99.

These appear to be much better than the 2019 draft caps launched this time last year. Let us know your thoughts about the newest designs on Facebook and Twitter.

New Era reveals Broncos’ 2020 NFL draft cap

New Era has revealed draft hats for all 32 NFL teams.

New Era’s website has listed official draft caps for all 32 NFL teams, including the Denver Broncos. The website says the designs were “inspired by the iconic neon signs of Las Vegas,” the city that was scheduled to host this year’s draft.

Unfortunately, the draft won’t be held in Vegas and there won’t be any fans in attendance due to COVID-19. The draft is expected to be held in a studio setting at a to-be-determined location.

Denver will have 10 picks to use in this year’s draft, including the 15th overall pick in the first round. Many mock drafts have the Broncos selecting a wide receiver with their first pick. If that’s the route Denver wants to go, the team might have to trade up.

In Todd McShay’s latest mock draft for ESPN, star receivers Jerry Jeudy (No. 11), CeeDee Lamb (No. 12) and Henry Ruggs III (No. 13) are all off the board before the Broncos go on the clock.

Dolphins HOF’er Jason Taylor gets custom New Era Cap and we need it

Miami Dolphins Hall of Fame defensive end Jason Taylor unveiled a custom New Era Cap to commemorate his career in Miami and Super Bowl LIV.

Do you like caps? Do you like the Dolphins? We’d assume you probably wouldn’t be here if you didn’t. Jason Taylor, a first-ballot Hall of Famer of the Miami Dolphins, has just announced a custom New Era Cap to help commemorate his career in Miami and help to celebrate Super Bowl LIV — which will be played this weekend at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

And assuming you like caps, this is definitely one that you’re going to want to add to the collection.

With only modest success over the course of the last few decades as a team, those players who gave their blood, sweat and tears and managed to find stardom in Miami will forever hold a special place in the heart of Dolphins fans. There’s not much to hold onto, so when a man of Jason Taylor’s quality comes around, it’s very easy for Dolphins fans to fall in love. And that’s exactly what so many did — so if you’ll excuse us, we need to go see about a ball cap order online.
