Former Nebraska quarterback Chubba Purdy will now continue his college career at Nevada.

Former Nebraska Cornhusker Chubba Purdy will not be headed to San Jose State after all. On Monday, it was announced that the former Florida State and Nebraska quarterback will continue his collegiate career at Nevada instead.

The move comes after the University of Arizona hired San Jose State head coach Brent Brennan to replace Jedd Fisch who left Tuscon to take over the Washington Huskies football program. Rather quickly, San Jose State tabbed former Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo to lead the Spartans in the future.

During his career at Nebraska, Purdy threw for 529 yards while rushing for an additional 253 yards. He had five total career touchdowns with the Huskers as well.

Purdy is joining a Nevada program coming off its second straight 2-10 season. The university fired head coach Ken Wilson this offseason and tabbed Jeff Choate to take over.

A former Nebraska quarterback has found a new home.

A former Nebraska quarterback has found a new home. Chubba Purdy announced on Twitter that he is committed to San José State for the 2024 season.

This is Purdy’s second transfer in his collegiate career. Purdy arrived in Nebraska after spending two seasons at Florida State. He played in 12 games for the Huskers across two seasons, making four starts.

Purdy also started in the final two games of the 2023 season for the Cornhuskers, where he threw for 358 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions while rushing for 147 yards.

For his Nebraska career, Purdy tallied up 529 passing yards, 253 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

The quarterback now joins a San José State team that finished 7-6 in the 2023 season. The Spartans tied for first in the Mountain West Conference and faced Coastal Carolina in the EasyPost Hawai’i Bowl, where they lost 24-14.

Huskers offer JUCO lineman

Nebraska has been active in the transfer portal for the last several weeks, and the activity has continued with a recent offer to a JUCO prospect. Dylan Christley is a defensive lineman from Maricopa Junior College out of Arizona.

He also holds offers from Wyoming, UNLV, and Maryland. Christley recorded 30 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles during an eight-game season. The Huskers have already added six players via the transfer portal this offseason.

The Huskers currently rank 20th in On3’s 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Nebraska has also seen ten players depart the program since the portal opened at the end of the regular season.

The Nebraska volleyball team has made an addition via the transfer portal.

The Nebraska volleyball team has made an addition via the transfer portal. San Diego middle blocker Leyla Blackwell comes to the Cornhuskers with one year of eligibility remaining.

Blackwell began her career at Indiana before transferring to San Diego. In 2022, she helped the Toreros to the Final Four. In 2023, she had 2.25 kills per set while hitting .329.

She’ll be joining a crowded group at middle blocker. Blackwell will be competing against Bekka Allick and Andi Jackson, who each started last season.

She was also a three-time All-WCC First Team selection and a 2022 Honorable Mention All-American.

Another Power Five wide receiver is transferring to Nebraska. Jahmal Banks from Wake Forest announced on Twitter he is transferring to Nebraska for his final year of eligibility.

Banks played four seasons for the Demon Deacons before hitting the portal back in December 2023. Before Nebraska, the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder took trips to Wisconsin, Purdue, Notre Dame, Minnesota, and Michigan.

The former three-star prospect played in 44 games at Wake Forest and became a full-time starter last season. In the past two seasons, Banks hauled in 101 catches for 1,289 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Banks now joins a packed wide receiver room at Nebraska, joining Malachi Coleman, Jaylen Lloyd, and Jeremiah Charles, along with newcomers like Texas wide receiver Isaiah Neyor.
Along with Neyor, Banks also joins the growing number of transfers Nebraska picked up this offseason. Other transfers include running back Dante Dowdell of Oregon and offensive guard Micah Mazzccua from Florida.

Nebraska football has landed another Power Five commit from the transfer portal.

Nebraska football has landed another Power Five commit from the transfer portal. Offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua announced on Twitter that he will be attending Nebraska for his final season of eligibility.

Mazzccua spent one year at Florida, starting in 11 games. Through his lone season with the Gators, the six-foot-five, 325-pound lineman played 730 snaps on offense and gave up just three sacks at right guard.

Before Florida, Mazzccua spent three seasons at Baylor. After being redshirted his freshman year, Mazzccua played 20 games for the Bears and earned 11 starts. In his final season at Baylor in 2022, Mazzccua finished with the second-best grade for a guard in the Big 12 according to Pro Football Focus and the 42nd-best in the nation.

He had a 74.9 overall grade from PFF, including a 66.9 mark in pass blocking and a 78.5 mark in run blocking. His run-blocking grade was the best in the conference and 15th-best in the nation.

Dowdell joins a deep running back room for Nebraska, who finished second in the Big Ten in yards per game. The Huskers did not add a running back to the recruiting class of 2024. Dowdell will join Rahmir Johnson, Gabe Ervin Jr., Emmett Johnson, and Kwintin Ives on the field this spring.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have landed one of the top wide receivers in the transfer portal. Isaiah Neyor spent the last two years with the Texas Longhorns.

Neyor has entered the transfer portal for the second time in his career. He spent his first two seasons at Wyoming, where he caught 52 passes for 1,126 yards and 12 touchdowns in 19 games.

The receiver was seen in Lincoln on January 4 when he took in the Nebraska-Indiana basketball game alongside offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield.

His best season came in 2021 when he made 44 catches for 878 yards and 12 touchdowns. The wideout would transfer to Texas following the season.

Neyor would miss the 2022 season after tearing his ACL in the preseason. In 2023, he would only appear in one game, making one reception for 14 yards.
