Nebraska transfer portal target Dylan Edwards has committed to Kansas State.

Nebraska transfer portal target Dylan Edwards, a rising sophomore tailback who was most recently with the Colorado Buffaloes, has found his next destination.

The Derby, Kansas native, is returning to his home state and will play for Kansas State. He announced his decision on X, posting a tweet of him in Kansas City gear with the home emoji.

Edwards appeared to be on track for a major season in 2023 as a true freshman after a phenomenal debut against TCU in which he recorded five receptions for 135 receiving yards and three touchdowns in a 45-42 win for Colorado.

He would, however, finish with just 76 rushing attempts for 321 yards and one touchdown. He also had 36 receptions for 299 yards and four touchdowns.

A former Nebraska starting quarterback took his first visit since entering the transfer portal. Jeff Sims took a visit to Arizona State on Monday.

Sims started the Huskers’ opening game of the 2023 season. He struggled in his only season in Lincoln, throwing for 282 yards and one touchdown with six interceptions.

The quarterback also added 189 rushing yards on 42 carries with one touchdown. Sims would start the first two games of the season before losing the starting job due to turnovers. He would appear in only three games the rest of the season.

Chris Karpman of Sundevil Source reported the news of the visit.

“Senior Nebraska QB transfer Jeff Sims is currently visiting ASU, I’ve learned. Great size, impressive athlete and arm talent but struggled with turnovers in a few games last season. Before that, he was a three-year starter at Georgia Tech. He has 31 career TD passes and 29 INTs.”

The Sun Devils have only two scholarship quarterbacks on their roster. Senior Trenton Bourguet and redshirt freshman Sam Leavitt are the only two after quarterback Jade Rashada entered the transfer portal.

Montana’s Vincent Genatone announced his commitment to Nebraska on social media.

Nebraska added a linebacker via the transfer portal on Tuesday afternoon. Montana’s Vincent Genatone announced his commitment to Nebraska on social media.

The North Platte, Nebraska native spent the last two seasons in Missoula before deciding to enter the portal. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining in his collegiate career.

Genatone was a stand-out linebacker and running back at North Platt High School. In his senior season, he recorded 136 tackles with 14.5 for loss and 3.5 sacks. He also ran for 911 yards and 13 touchdowns as a running back.

His father, Al, was a captain for Washington State during their 2002 run to the Rose Bowl.

A transfer from Southern Methodist University has received interest from the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Safety Bryan Massey entered the portal on Monday.

Massey played in 11 games last season, recording 30 tackles, one tackle for loss, and a forced fumble. Brandon Howard, a senior recruiting analyst for Rivals, has reported that Nebraska has already expressed interest in Massey, along with Washington, Indiana, and Michigan State.

The native Texan is also a successful kick returner, having recorded an AAC high in 2021 for kick return yards and kick return touchdowns. Massey has yet to announce any campus visits.

He will have two years of eligibility remaining following his transfer.

A Nebraska punter has withdrawn from the transfer portal. Jacob Hohl made an official decision on Friday afternoon.

Hohl started his career at Nebraska Wesleyan, where he played two seasons for the Praire Wolves before transferring. The punter averaged 40 yards per punt during his time at NWU.

The Nebraska native has not appeared in a game with the Cornhuskers. Hohl played his high school football at Lincoln Southwest High School.

The punter has deep family connections to the Nebraska program. His father, Erich, was a tight end for Tom Osborne in the early 90s and was a member of the 1994 National Championship team.

A former Nebraska quarterback has found a new home.

A former Nebraska quarterback has found a new home. Chubba Purdy announced on Twitter that he is committed to San José State for the 2024 season.

This is Purdy’s second transfer in his collegiate career. Purdy arrived in Nebraska after spending two seasons at Florida State. He played in 12 games for the Huskers across two seasons, making four starts.

Purdy also started in the final two games of the 2023 season for the Cornhuskers, where he threw for 358 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions while rushing for 147 yards.

For his Nebraska career, Purdy tallied up 529 passing yards, 253 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

The quarterback now joins a San José State team that finished 7-6 in the 2023 season. The Spartans tied for first in the Mountain West Conference and faced Coastal Carolina in the EasyPost Hawai’i Bowl, where they lost 24-14.

The Huskers currently rank 20th in On3’s 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Nebraska has also seen ten players depart the program since the portal opened at the end of the regular season.

Four of the six incoming players come from the offensive side of the ball, with three of those players coming from skill positions. Coach Rhule has previously discussed the types of players he looks for in the transfer portal.

“The portal for me, I either want to get someone with multiple years, no matter the position, that’s on caliber with the guys we have. Or someone who is an instant impact upgrade. Someone who can make a difference.”

Another Power Five wide receiver is transferring to Nebraska. Jahmal Banks from Wake Forest announced on Twitter he is transferring to Nebraska for his final year of eligibility.

Banks played four seasons for the Demon Deacons before hitting the portal back in December 2023. Before Nebraska, the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder took trips to Wisconsin, Purdue, Notre Dame, Minnesota, and Michigan.

The former three-star prospect played in 44 games at Wake Forest and became a full-time starter last season. In the past two seasons, Banks hauled in 101 catches for 1,289 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Banks now joins a packed wide receiver room at Nebraska, joining Malachi Coleman, Jaylen Lloyd, and Jeremiah Charles, along with newcomers like Texas wide receiver Isaiah Neyor.
Along with Neyor, Banks also joins the growing number of transfers Nebraska picked up this offseason. Other transfers include running back Dante Dowdell of Oregon and offensive guard Micah Mazzccua from Florida.

A former Husker is returning home to finish his college football career. Quarterback Casey Thompson announced on Twitter that he is transferring to Oklahoma for his final year of eligibility.

Thompson spent one year at Nebraska after spending four seasons at Texas. The Oklahoma City, Oklahoma native would then transfer to Florida Atlantic but would tear his ACL three games into the 2023 season.

Thompson will be the third quarterback in his family to don the Sooner jersey, joining his brother, Kendal, and his father, Oklahoma legend Charles Thompson.

In his career, Thompson played 32 games and threw for 5,338 yards, 52 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions. His best season came in his lone year at Nebraska, despite not playing in every game. Thompson threw for 2,407 yards, 17 touchdowns, and ten interceptions.

Oregon running back Dante Dowdell announced that he is transferring to the Huskers for the upcoming season.

Nebraska football received its second big transfer in less than 24 hours after its first. Oregon running back Dante Dowdell announced that he is transferring to the Huskers for the upcoming season.

Dowdell enters the 2024 season as a sophomore after playing his freshman year at Oregon. The four-star recruit out of Picayune, Mississippi native came out of high school rushing for 5,301 yards and 65 touchdowns.

The six-foot-two 215 pounder competed in six games for the Ducks in his first year. Across the six games, Dowdell rushed for 90 yards off 17 carries and a touchdown. Dowdell’s big game came against Portland State, where he finished with 55 yards and a touchdown off eight carries.

Dowdell joins a deep running back room for Nebraska, who finished second in the Big Ten in yards per game. Dowdell is also joining Texas wide receiver Isaiah Neyor as big transfers coming to Nebraska.
