A former Nebraska quarterback has found a new home. Chubba Purdy announced on Twitter that he is committed to San José State for the 2024 season.

This is Purdy’s second transfer in his collegiate career. Purdy arrived in Nebraska after spending two seasons at Florida State. He played in 12 games for the Huskers across two seasons, making four starts.

Purdy also started in the final two games of the 2023 season for the Cornhuskers, where he threw for 358 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions while rushing for 147 yards.

For his Nebraska career, Purdy tallied up 529 passing yards, 253 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

The quarterback now joins a San José State team that finished 7-6 in the 2023 season. The Spartans tied for first in the Mountain West Conference and faced Coastal Carolina in the EasyPost Hawai’i Bowl, where they lost 24-14.

Another Power Five wide receiver is transferring to Nebraska. Jahmal Banks from Wake Forest announced on Twitter he is transferring to Nebraska for his final year of eligibility.

Banks played four seasons for the Demon Deacons before hitting the portal back in December 2023. Before Nebraska, the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder took trips to Wisconsin, Purdue, Notre Dame, Minnesota, and Michigan.

The former three-star prospect played in 44 games at Wake Forest and became a full-time starter last season. In the past two seasons, Banks hauled in 101 catches for 1,289 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Banks now joins a packed wide receiver room at Nebraska, joining Malachi Coleman, Jaylen Lloyd, and Jeremiah Charles, along with newcomers like Texas wide receiver Isaiah Neyor.
Along with Neyor, Banks also joins the growing number of transfers Nebraska picked up this offseason. Other transfers include running back Dante Dowdell of Oregon and offensive guard Micah Mazzccua from Florida.

Oregon running back Dante Dowdell announced that he is transferring to the Huskers for the upcoming season.

Nebraska football received its second big transfer in less than 24 hours after its first. Oregon running back Dante Dowdell announced that he is transferring to the Huskers for the upcoming season.

Dowdell enters the 2024 season as a sophomore after playing his freshman year at Oregon. The four-star recruit out of Picayune, Mississippi native came out of high school rushing for 5,301 yards and 65 touchdowns.

The six-foot-two 215 pounder competed in six games for the Ducks in his first year. Across the six games, Dowdell rushed for 90 yards off 17 carries and a touchdown. Dowdell’s big game came against Portland State, where he finished with 55 yards and a touchdown off eight carries.

Dowdell joins a deep running back room for Nebraska, who finished second in the Big Ten in yards per game. Dowdell is also joining Texas wide receiver Isaiah Neyor as big transfers coming to Nebraska.

Texas wide receiver Isaiah Neyor commits to Nebraska

The Huskers received another big addition to their team in the offseason, this time coming from the transfer portal.

The Huskers received another significant addition to their team in the offseason, this time coming from the transfer portal. Texas wide receiver Isaiah Neyor announced on Twitter late Friday night that he is committed to Nebraska after spending two seasons with the Longhorns.

The 6-foot-3 wide receiver transfers from Texas with two years of eligibility left and is coming to Lincoln with a solid resume. However, his time with the Longhorns resulted in minimal action for the Fort Worth, Texas, getting just one catch for 14 yards.

But before Texas, Neyor made a name for himself at Wyoming. In three seasons with the Cowboys, Neyor hauled in 52 catches for 1,126 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Neyor came out of high school as a two-star wide receiver and will be the second Texas wide receiver to transfer to Nebraska in the past three years, joining former Husker Marcus Washington.

Neyor is also just the second player to commit to Nebraska from the transfer portal this offseason, the first being cornerback Blye Hill from Saint Francis University.

A Nebraska target at quarterback has announced that he will be heading to the SEC.

A Nebraska target at quarterback announced he is heading to the SEC. Baylor transfer Blake Shapen confirmed he will join Mississippi State for the 2024 season.

Shapen was originally a three-star prospect out of Shreveport, Louisiana, in the 2020 recruiting cycle. This season, he appeared in eight games for Baylor, completing 61.7% of his passing attempts for 2,188 yards and 13 touchdowns while throwing just three interceptions.

Nebraska offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield met with Shapen in Waco, Texas, earlier this week. His decision takes off the board one of the several potential options the Huskers were looking for at the quarterback position in the transfer portal.
