Does this shock you Irish fans?

If you didn’t know, [autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] hosts Ohio State on Saturday evening and ESPN’s College GameDay made the trip to South Bend as well.

The group of analysts that include [autotag]Desmond Howard[/autotag], [autotag]Pat McAfee[/autotag], [autotag]Lee Corso[/autotag], and [autotag]Kirk Herbstreit[/autotag] made their selections for the week, along with actor and Irish fan [autotag]Vince Vaughn[/autotag].

As one of the biggest weekend in college football, it shows how important this game is on the national scale. The winner will have a leg up in gaining a College Football Playoff berth, with an early season signature victory.

Find out below which teams they believe will come out victorious this weekend.

Questions Notre Dame needs to answer to defeat Ohio State

What questions do you have for the Irish tonight?

The wait is finally over, [autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] is set to take on Ohio State this evening and the anticipation is boiling over.

We all can’t wait until 7:30 p.m. ET for kickoff, but until then we are all just wondering how this game plays out. The Irish have more than a few questions that they will have to answer as the game plays out.

Some of those questions we will get answers for almost right away, some of them we won’t know until the later stages of the game. Find out below the biggest questions marks in my eyes for the Irish tonight against the Buckeyes.

Notre Dame vs Ohio State: Confidences & Concerns

How you feeling about the Irish today?

Notre Dame vs. Ohio State week is upon us. All of college football awaits the answers to so many major questions relating to both of these teams. How much better does Sam Hartman make Notre Dame in the most premier of matchups? How will new Buckeyes starter Kyle McCord handle the hostile “greened out” home crowd? Are the Irish ready to take the next step or are the Buckeyes a threat to win it all this year?

In many ways, this game feels like both teams’ first. Neither the media or fans on either side of this battle seem to have drawn many concrete conclusions about either team based on the results of the games leading into this. This kind of game at Notre Dame Stadium doesn’t come around often. Will the Irish take advantage?

Let’s examine some confidences & concerns Irish fans may have entering this Saturday’s Midwestern masterpiece of a game.

Lou Holtz makes his pick for Notre Dame vs. Ohio State

Do you agree with Coach?

The anticipation for this [autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] is weekend is getting to all of us, but as we wait until Saturday evening, there are plenty of people making their projections for the Ohio State game.

One of those selections was by legendary Irish head coach [autotag]Lou Holtz[/autotag]. The leader of the most recent Notre Dame football championship team in 1988, joined [autotag]The Pat McAfee Show[/autotag], which was on campus for their broadcast on Friday afternoon.

Holtz believes the Irish will win by 10 points and thinks the “Notre Dame is a better football team than Ohio State.” He cites the Irish’s offensive protecting quarterback [autotag]Sam Hartman[/autotag] and opening up running lanes for the backs.

Not only that, Holtz has faith in the Irish receivers and the defensive line is better.

Saturday night can’t get here sooner, can it?

Notre Dame vs Ohio State: Irish win would alter program

Marcus Freeman’s coming out party at Notre Dame?

You saw the title I came up with. What was your first reaction to it? John is being dramatic yet again? Or perhaps the notion of it being “just one game”? Or did you really take a moment to think about what this title represents for Notre Dame?

All of America will be watching Notre Dame vs. Ohio State. Will this be the “same old big game Notre Lame”, or will the Irish take the practical and perceptual “next step” towards elite status in year two of Marcus Freeman? In some ways, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Let’s examine a few reasons a victory this weekend against the Buckeyes would change Notre Dame’s path into the modern playoff era.

Know your foe, Ohio State: Which Buckeyes can give Notre Dame problems

Which Buckeyes scare you the most?

[autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] will have all eyes on South Bend this weekend as they welcome in Ohio State for a top-10 matchup.

Both teams are undefeated and have plenty of talent on both sides of the ball. For the Irish to come out with a win, they will have to stop a good amount of Buckeyes, starting with [autotag]Marvin Harrison Jr.[/autotag]

We won’t touch on the star receiver here, as we all know how talented he is, but I will look at some of his teammates. Here are a few Buckeyes that could really give Notre Dame some issues on Saturday night.

Notre Dame vs Ohio State: It’s Different This Time

This time it’s different.

For the last 25-30 years Notre Dame Football has been known for one thing more than any other. Losing “the big game”, often in horrifically embarrassing fashion. That hurts to hear if you are an Irish fan, but it’s the truth. Notre Dame is a running meme when it comes to big-game blowouts. And don’t get me started on bowl game records.

Somehow, some way Notre Dame must end this cycle.

Change the narratives.

Force the country to view them in a different light.

There’s only one way to accomplish this. Beat Ohio State. Let’s examine some ways that the 2023 Notre Dame team is uniquely positioned to possibly do just that.

Scout’s view: Newest Notre Dame commit, 2025 quarterback Deuce Knight

The Irish are stacking impressive quarterback talent

[autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] scored a massive recruiting win on Monday morning, when 2025 Mississippi quarterback [autotag]Deuce Knight[/autotag] made his verbal commitment to the Irish.

The 6-foot, 4-inch and 195-pound lefty is the third commit of the class, the second on the offensive side of the ball joining running back Justin Thurman. Knight had plenty of elite-level offers, as the Irish beat out Georgia, Alabama, Oregon and others for his verbal.

[autotag]Malik Zaire[/autotag] is the last lefty Notre Dame quarterback that has played significant time and Knight it hoping to be the next. Find out below what traits he will bring with when he arrives in South Bend two years from now after watching some of his junior highlights and his full sophomore tape.

Lasting thoughts on Notre Dame’s win over Central Michigan

What has still stuck out in your mind Irish fans?

If you are like me, which I think you are, it was college football on Saturday, with an emphasis on [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag], and the NFL on Sunday.

Now that our weekends full of football are over, it’s time to reflect back a bit on what the Irish did this weekend along with what is coming up next, Ohio State.

The buildup to that game is already starting, ESPN’s GameDay has announced they will be in South Bend this weekend. However, before we really dive deep into the top-10 matchup, there were still a few thoughts that were in my mind about Notre Dame’s win over Central Michigan.

Notre Dame football adds 2024 legacy wide receiver commit

A familiar name has joined the Irish 2024 recruiting class

[autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] had a great weekend, not only did they defeat Central Michigan to the triune of 41-17, but they also made an addition to their 2024 recruiting class.

[autotag]Xavier Southall[/autotag], son of former Irish cornerback Cornelius, made his verbal commitment on Sunday to be a preferred walk-on. At 6-foot and 180-pound, he’s following in his father footsteps and will don the Blue and Gold.

The receiver is not ranked by any major services, as is the case with the majority of walk-on players, but that doesn’t mean that Southall won’t be able to make an impact on the field. Plenty of former Irish players who have made an impact started their careers as walk-on’s.
