Maryland at Seton Hall odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s Maryland Terrapins at Seton Hall Pirates sports betting odds and lines, with NCAA basketball betting picks, tips and bets.

The Maryland Terrapins (10-1, 1-1 Big Ten) and Seton Hall Pirates (6-4, 0-0 Big East) meet up at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. at 7 p.m. ET. We analyze the Maryland-Seton Hall odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Maryland at Seton Hall: Three things you need to know

1. The Terrapins look to rebound from their first loss of the season – 76-69 at Penn State Dec. 10.

2. The Pirates are on a two-game skid. They lost 76-66 at Iowa State Dec. 8, and 68-48 at Rutgers in a Garden State Hardwood Classic Saturday, falling as 1.5-point favorites.

3. Seton Hall G Myles Powell, the team’s leading scorer (21.2 points per game), is considered out indefinitely due to a concussion. In fact, Powell was so concussed in the game against the Scarlet Knights last time out, he reportedly asked coach Kevin Willard why his team was practicing at Rutgers. Scary stuff. He joins second-leading scorer Sandro Mamukelashvili (wrist) on the shelf.

Prediction

Maryland 75, Seton Hall 61

Moneyline (ML)

Maryland (-300) is costly –  every $3 wagered profits a $1 if the Terps win outright. Seton Hall (+250) offers a 2.5-to-1 payoff, but this is a PASS. We’ll focus on the spread below.

Against the Spread (ATS)

MARYLAND (-6.5, -110) hits the road looking to rebound from a loss to the Nittany Lions. The Terps catch a break with Powell likely sidelined for the Pirates, and Mamukelashvili already on the mend. Look for the Terrapins to make a statement in this road battle. UMD is 13-5 ATS in the past 18 games following a non-cover, and 7-3 ATS in the past 10 after a straight-up loss, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 138.5 (-110) is the play in this one, as it’s uncertain where Seton Hall’s scoring is going to come from. The Pirates’ only two guys averaging double-digit point totals are dealing with serious injuries. Look for the under to hit.

NC State at Auburn odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s NC State Wolfpack at Auburn Tigers sports betting odds and lines, with NCAA basketball betting picks, tips and bets.

The NC State Wolfpack (8-2, 1-1 ACC) and Auburn Tigers 9-0, 0-0 SEC) tangle at Auburn Arena at 9 p.m. ET Thursday. We analyze the NC State-Auburn odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

NC State at Auburn: Three things you need to know

1. The Wolfpack have just two losses so far, falling by one point to Georgia Tech in overtime in the opener Nov. 5, and 83-78 at Memphis Nov. 28. Since the loss to Memphis, they’re 3-0 straight up and against the spread with wins over Wisconsin, Wake Forest and UNC-Greensboro.

2. Auburn is unbeaten, but it’s 0-2 ATS in the past two against Furman and St. Louis. The Tigers’ best win of the season might be a 10-point victory over Davidson Nov. 8, but their schedule hasn’t exactly been a gauntlet.

3. The Wolfpack enter 6-2 ATS in the past eight road games, and 4-1 ATS in the past five overall. The Tigers are just 2-5 ATS in the past seven at home, and they’re 0-4 ATS in the past four home games against a team with a winning road record.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:15 a.m. ET.

Prediction

N.C. State 82, Auburn 80

Moneyline (ML)

NC STATE (+260) is an attractive value play with nearly a 3x return on your investment with a victory.

Against the Spread (ATS)

NC STATE (+8.5, -133) has been a cover kins, and it’s on a 3-0 SU/ATS run with impressive resume-building wins. Auburn (-8.5, +110) is one of four remaining teams in the nation with an unblemished record. However, the Tigers haven’t exactly been tested, and the Wolfpack will give them their best battle to date.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 151.5 (-115) is worth a look, cashing in 14 of the past 19 road outings for NC State, and five of the past seven overall. Auburn has hit the Over in five of its past six at home, too.

Utah vs. Kentucky odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s Utah Utes vs. Kentucky Wildcats betting odds and lines, with NCAA basketball betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Utah Utes (8-2, 0-0 PAC-12) and the Kentucky Wildcats (8-1, 0-0 SEC) tangle on a neutral-site floor at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas at 11 p.m. ET Wednesday. We analyze the Utah-Kentucky odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Utah vs. Kentucky: Three things you need to know

1. Kentucky G Ashton Hagans rolls in with 16.3 points and 8.7 assists per game across his past six outings.

2. Kentucky freshman G Tyrese Maxey is just 4-for-26 from the field across his past three games.

3. The Utes enter this game with a 29-29 record all-time in Las Vegas, while going 8-8 under head coach Larry Krystkowiak.

Utah vs. Kentucky: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:40 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Kentucky 85, Utah 77

Moneyline (ML)

Kentucky (-769) is heavily favorited to win, but the ML is too chalky to warrant a wager. A $10 bet on the Wildcats to win outright returns a profit of just $1.30.

Against the Spread (ATS)

UTAH (+11.5, -110) will be able to keep it within single digits, mainly due to the erratic shooting of Maxey. While he has been playing lockdown defense, he has really struggled from the perimeter, and that’s his calling card. Until he gets on track, opponents of the Wildcats (-11.5, -110) will be able to reel them in.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 138.5 (-110) is the play here. Expect Kentucky to snap out of its shooting funk a little bit. The Over is 12-5 in Utah’s past 17 against teams with a winning percentage of .600 or better. While it’s all Under all the time for Kentucky, some trends are made to be broken.

North Carolina at Gonzaga odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s North Carolina Tar Heels at Gonzaga Bulldogs betting odds and lines, with NCAA basketball betting picks and tips.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs (11-1, 0-0 WCC) and North Carolina Tar Heels (6-4, 1-1 ACC) battle at McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Wash. at 9 p.m. ET. We analyze the North Carolina-Gonzaga odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

North Carolina at Gonzaga: Three things you need to know

1. The Tar Heels are injury ravaged, as all kinds of key personnel are fighting through injury to play or they’re sidelined. Star Cole Anthony (knee) will miss at least four weeks due to arthroscopic knee surgery, while G Leaky Black (foot) is battling through a sprained right foot.

2. UNC is on a three-game winning streak in this series, going 3-1 all-time vs. Gonzaga.

3. Gonzaga enters as the much healthier team. F Filip Petrusev leads the team with 15.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game.

North Carolina at Gonzaga: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:00 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Gonzaga 84, North Carolina 63

Moneyline (ML)

Gonzaga (-667) is an overwhelming favorite to beat the banged-up and struggling visitors from North Carolina (+475), but you can’t risk nearly seven times the return. Look to the spread instead.

A $10 bet on the Bulldogs to win outright would return a profit of just $1.50.

Against the Spread (ATS)

GONZAGA (-10.5, -134) remembers the 103-90 beating it took against North Carolina (+10.5, +110) the last time these teams faced. The Bulldogs are not going to feel sorry for UNC’s injury woes and poor shooting from the perimeter. Look for the Bulldogs to house the Tar Heels in this one.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 145.5 (-106) is a nice small-unit play, especially as part of a parlay. The only concern with the Over is whether or not the Tar Heels can generate enough offense in a potential blowout. They rank 310th in the nation in 3-point shooting, and that’s a huge concern.

Tennessee at Cincinnati odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s Tennessee Volunteers at Cincinnati Bearcats betting odds and lines, with NCAA basketball betting picks and bets.

The Tennessee Volunteers (7-2, 0-0 SEC) and the Cincinnati Bearcats (6-4, 0-0 AAC) square off Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET at Fifth Third Arena. We analyze the Tennessee-Cincinnati odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Tennessee at Cincinnati: Three things you need to know

1. The Bearcats are looking to bounce back after a stunning 67-66 loss at home to Colgate. G Jarron Cumberland fired up a 3-pointer with about five seconds left, as Colgate came down with it and ended up at the free-throw line to win it.

2. The Volunteers are coming off a 51-47 loss against Memphis last time out. That’s the bad news. The good news is the defense hasn’t allowed 70 or more points all season.

3. Both teams are a disaster against the number, as the Vols are 1-4 against the spread in the past five overall and 2-5 ATS in the past seven on the road, while the Bearcats are 8-23 ATS in the past 31 overall dating back to last season.

Tennessee at Cincinnati: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:10 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Tennessee 69, Cincinnati 55

Moneyline (ML)

TENNESSEE (-125) is worth a considerable bet on the road, as the ranked Volunteers face a Cincinnati (+105) side that can’t seem to get out of its own way lately.

A $10 bet on the Vols to win outright would return a profit of $8.

Against the Spread (ATS)

TENNESSEE (-1.5, -110) is expected to win, and all it has to do is win by a bucket to cover. The Volunteers are a better value against the spread. While they have struggled on the road against the number, the Bearcats (+1.5, -110) are coming off a home loss to Colgate, they have dropped two in a row, and they have won just once in regulation over their past four home games. They’re not playing good ball right now.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 129.5 (-106) is worth a small-unit play, although confidence is not high. Tennessee’s defense has been strong this season, however, and that’s not what Cincinnati needs as it looks to bounce back.

Ohio State at Minnesota odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s Ohio State Buckeyes at Minnesota Golden Gophers sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Ohio State Buckeyes (9-0, 1-0 Big Ten) will tangle in the Twin Cities with the Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-5, 0-1 Big Ten) in a Big Ten Conference battle at 6:30 p.m. ET Sunday. We analyze the Ohio State-Minnesota odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Ohio State at Minnesota: Three things you need to know

1. The Buckeyes really burst onto the national scene by hammering North Carolina at the Dean Dome Dec. 4. With a victory the Buckeyes might ascend to the No. 1 spot in the rankings for the first time since 2010-11.

2. The Golden Gophers are a game below .500, but they have had a tough schedule during the early going. They have losses to Oklahoma, Butler, Utah, DePaul and Iowa, in the Big Ten opener.

3. Ohio State has covered the spread in seven straight games, including six in a row as a favorite.

Ohio State at Minnesota: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:45 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Ohio State 74, Minnesota 67

Moneyline (ML)

Ohio State (-333) is expected to win this one, but as a moderate favorite the moneyline isn’t worth a play, as you’d have to risk way too much for a small reward. A $10 bet on the Buckeyes to win outright would return a profit of just $3.

Against the Spread (ATS)

MINNESOTA (+8.5, -143) should be able to hang around, as it’s catching four buckets at home. Home teams are actually 11-0 straight up in Big Ten games to date, so Ohio State (-8.5, +120) is on upset alert here. It’s all on the line, as a solid win and it’s likely headed for the top spot in the rankings. But a loss, even against a sub-.500 Minnesota team, wouldn’t be shocking.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Minnesota to cover the spread and stay within 8 points in a loss or win outright would profit $7 if it does so.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 128.5 (-120) seems criminally low, but perhaps I am overvaluing the Buckeyes offense based on the fact they dropped a triple-digit total against Penn State in the conference opener. While the Under has been the trend for the Bucks, more often than not, the over is 4-1-2 in Minny’s past seven games against winning sides.

Gonzaga at Arizona odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Gonzaga Bulldogs at Arizona Wildcats sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs (10-1, 0-0 WCC) will square off with the Arizona Wildcats (10-1, 0-0 Pac-12) at McKale Memorial Center in Tucson at 10 p.m. ET Saturday. We analyze the Gonzaga-Arizona odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Gonzaga at Arizona: Three things you need to know

1. The Bulldogs have recorded wins against Pac-12 teams Oregon and Washington already this season. The Over hit in both matchups.

2. The Wildcats have just one loss, a 63-58 setback at Baylor Dec. 7. At home they won by 50 last time out over Omaha, and five of their past six games in Tucson have been double-digit victories.

3. Gonzaga topped Arizona 91-74 last season in the Maui Invitational semifinals, and the Zags have won six of the previous nine meetings in this series.

Prediction

Gonzaga 83, Arizona 77

Moneyline (ML)

There was no moneyline posted at the time of publishing. GONZAGA would be the pick on the road, even though Arizona is certainly hostile territory. The Bulldogs have faced plenty of adversity already, so don’t expect them to be fazed.

Against the Spread (ATS)

GONZAGA (+3.5, -139) is a strong option on the road, especially considering Arizona (-3.5, +115) is just 1-4 ATS in the past five overall, and 0-4 ATS in the past four against teams with a winning percentage over .600.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Gonzaga to cover the spread and stay within 3 points in a loss or win outright would profit $7.20 if it does so.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 152.5 (+110) is a great option in this high-profile matchup. The total has gone Over in five straight for the Zags. While the Under is 5-2 in Arizona’s past seven against winning teams, the Over is 4-1 in the past five on its home floor.

Stream Oregon vs. Michigan College Basketball Live.

In a matchup between Top 10 schools on Saturday, No. 5 Michigan takes on No. 10 Oregon, who is playing its first road game of the season. Oregon’s offense has been on a roll, but Michigan’s defense so far has been on point, especially along the perimeter. The Wolverines are 5-0 at home.

Oregon vs. Michigan

  • When: Saturday, December 14
  • Time: 12:00 p.m. ET
  • TV: CBS
  • Live Stream: fuboTV (watch for free)

Saturday will be the first time the two schools have played since No. 3 seed Oregon beat No. 7 seed Michigan 69-68 in the Sweet 16 of the 2017 NCAA Tournament.

Oregon (7-2) cruised to an 89-64 victory against Hawaii last Saturday with five players scoring in double digits. Guard Payton Pritchard led the way with 20 points (8-for-11) and 11 assists, while forward CJ Walker had 18 points in just 22 minutes. Walker, a freshman, got the start due to an injury to Shakur Juiston, who will not suit up vs. Michigan. Pritchard opened the half with back-to-back three-pointers to start a 20-1 Oregon run and the Ducks never looked back, outshooting Hawaii 66.7 percent to 33.3 percent in the second half.

Things didn’t go Michigan’s way on Wednesday, losing 71-62 to Illinois, marking the team’s first Big Ten loss this season. Jon Teske scored 16 points, while Eli Brooks and Isaiah Livers each scored 12 points. Senior leader Xavier Simpson struggled on the night, scoring just nine points in 36 minutes. The Wolverines (8-2) were unable to find much success against the Illinois defense, shooting only 17 percent from 3-point range. Michigan was also thoroughly outworked under the basket, with Illinois scoring 44 points in the paint to Michigan’s 26.

Memphis at Tennessee odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Memphis Tigers at Tennessee Volunteers sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Memphis Tigers (8-1, 0-0 AAC) travel to meet the Tennessee Volunteers (7-1, 0-0 SEC) in Knoxville Saturday at 3 p.m. ET. We analyze the Memphis-Tennessee odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Memphis at Tennessee: Three things you need to know

1. The Volunteers have posted a 3-7 against the spread mark across their past 10 games at home, while the underdog is 9-3 ATS in the past 12 meetings in this Volunteer State rivalry.

2. The Tigers are still without C James Wiseman for another month, as he remains suspended by the NCAA. To make matters worse, freshman G Lester Quinones (hand) is considered questionable due to a hand injury.

3. Tennessee won 102-92 in the most recent meeting Dec. 15, 2018.

Prediction

Tennessee 76, Memphis 72

Moneyline (ML)

There was no moneyline posted at the time of publishing. TENNESSEE would be the pick.

Against the Spread (ATS)

MEMPHIS (+6.5, -115) is a good play catching more than three buckets. This is a rivalry game, and even though Wiseman isn’t part of the festivities, Quinones might be back after a three-game absence. Either way, the Tigers should be able to at least keep it close.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Memphis to cover the spread would profit $8.70 if it does so.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 139.5 (-105) is worth a small-unit play. While the Under is 4-1 in Tennessee’s past five overall, the Over is 7-3-1 in its past 11 at home. The Under has also dominated for Memphis, but the Over is 4-1 in its past five against winning teams.

Oregon at Michigan odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Oregon Ducks at Michigan Wolverines sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks and tips.

The Michigan Wolverines (8-2, 1-1 Big Ten) host the Oregon Ducks (7-2, 0-0 Pac-12) battle at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor at 12:00 p.m. ET. We analyze the Oregon-Michigan odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Oregon at Michigan: Three things you need to know

1. The Wolverines look to bounce back after falling at Illinois last time out by a 71-62 score. After a 7-0 straight-up start the Wolverines are 1-2 SU and against the spread in their past three games.

2. Oregon enters play on a 6-2 SU/7-1 ATS run across the past eight contests. The Over is 6-1-1 during the span.

3. The Ducks rank 18th in the country in 3-point percentage (67.4), and they’re 34th in the land in field-goal defense percentage (37.8).

Prediction

Michigan 74, Oregon 70

Moneyline (ML)

There was no moneyline posted at the time of publishing. MICHIGAN would be the pick as it is looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss on the road against Illinois. Oregon hasn’t been great away from home this season, so look for the Wolverines to get that bounce-back win.

Against the Spread (ATS)

PASS. Michigan (-3.5, -110) is favored at home, but you can expect this game to be a nip and tuck affair and a total sweatshop to the end. They need to win by two or more buckets, and I expect they’ll win by four.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Michigan to cover the spread would profit $9.09 if it does so.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 137.5 (-110) is the play, going 3-0-1 in the past four on the road for the Ducks, while going 4-0-1 in UO’s past five overall. While Michigan is coming off an Under in Illinois, the Wolverines will show much better offensive results at home.
