For the second time in the last week, Florida State lost one of its top recruits in the 2025 class. On Sunday, four-star defensive end Javion Hilson de-committed, with plans to make a final decision closer to the early signing period in December. He had been committed to the Seminoles since Jan. 12.
ESPN ranks the Cocoa High School product as the No. 71 overall prospect in his class. Before choosing Florida State, Hilson took official visits to Florida, Texas, and UCF in the spring. While Hilson is expected to draw plenty of interest, the Longhorns seem to be at the top of his list. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound defender is expected to visit Austin in the coming weeks, according to Rivals John Garcia.
During his high school career, Hilson has been a human highlight reel. As a junior, he recorded 97 total tackles and 14 sacks while leading the Tigers to a second consecutive Class 2S title. Due to his play, Hilson is ranked as the 11th-ranked prospect from Florida in the 2025 class.
If the Longhorns can land Hilson, they would be adding another potential star to their defense. Over the weekend, Myron Charles joined Texas after he decommited from Florida State.
The Longhorns are building something special in Austin, and adding a player like Hilson would make an already top-ten recruiting class even better.
