Prediction

Toronto FC 3, New York City 1

Moneyline (ML)

TORONTO FC (+125) went unbeaten in Group C play, winning a match and picking up two draws. They managed to net six goals with a plus-1 goal differential, just edging out New England for the top spot in the group.

Toronto’s firepower on offense will get them past NYCFC (+195).  They ended up third in Group A, scoring just two goals with a minus-2 goal differential.

A winning $10 wager on Toronto FC (+125) to win outright nets a profit of $12.50. A $10 wager on New York City FC (+195) to win would net $19.50, while a Draw or Tie (+275) would fetch a $27.50 profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 (-167) looks pretty tasty here, mainly based upon Toronto’s wide-open style of play. TFC averaged two goals per game in the group stage while yielding 1.67. If those trends continue, we’ll see at least three total goals. NYCFC’s struggling offense is the biggest concern here, but they should find a little more success against Toronto.

Prediction

Philadelphia Union 1, New England Revolution 0

Moneyline (ML)

PHILADELPHIA UNION (+150) is coming off a spirited 1-1 draw against Orlando City SC last time out. They’re considered one of the favorites to win this entire thing, and their most difficult matchup of the knockout stages might be right here against the New England Revolution (+150). The books are pricing this one as a coin flip, with the Draw (+260) also available if there is a tie after full time.

I am feeling the Doopers, however. Philly looked good in scratching out four goals in group play while allowing just two. They edged Inter Miami CF in a great opening game to get their juices flowing, and the Orlando match showed a lot as they netted seven out of a possible nine points in group play.

New England’s defense clamped down, yielding only one goal in three group matches, but they scored just two. The Union have more offense and that will be the difference here. Philly is 4-0-1 in the previous five battles with the Revs.

A winning $10 wager on either Philadelphia Union (+150) or New England Revolution (+150) to win outright nets a profit of $15. A $10 wager on Draw or Tie (+260) would fetch a $26 profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (+115) is your best bet. The Revs have looked like they’re shooting into a hockey net rather than a soccer net, and their defense is in lockdown mode. Philly is also stout defensively, so goals should be at a premium here.

Prediction

Orlando City SC 2, Montreal Impact 1

Moneyline (ML)

ORLANDO CITY SC (+100) is even-money in this one. Who woulda thunk it? Not much was expected of the purple-clad group, even if they are considered the unofficial “home” team in the Central Florida bubble.

They looked championship caliber in the group stages, going 2-0-1 with a plus-3 goal differential. They played a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the Philadelphia Union Tuesday, showing their championship mettle. Montreal (+260), on the other hand, eeked into the Round of 16 despite losses in two of three Group C contests. Momentum is on the side of OCSC.

You can also still bet Draw or Tie (+270), as you’d be a winner after full time, regardless of who would win in extra time or penalty kicks.

A winning $10 wager on Orlando City SC (+100) to win outright nets a profit of $10. A $10 wager on Montreal (+260) to win would net a profit of $26, while a Draw or Tie (+270) would fetch a $27 profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 (-162) is a little on the steep side, but we have seen it before with these two on the same pitch. In fact, five of the past six in this series have seen at least three goals, including an Orlando City 3-0 win in the most recent meeting (June 1, 2019).

MLS: LAFC vs. Portland Timbers odds, picks and best bets

LAFC vs. Portland Timbers: MLS odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday at 6 a.m. ET.

Prediction

LAFC 3, Portland 2

Moneyline (ML)

Expect LAFC (-167) to put the peddle to the metal, just like when it routed the rival L.A. Galaxy by a 6-2 count last time out. Portland (+400) won each of its first two matches and are sitting pretty atop Group F with an invitation to the Round of 16 already extended. Look for LAFC, which has also qualified for the Round of 16, to finish up group play strong with a three-point night.

A $10 winning wager on LAFC (+167) to win outright nets a profit of $5.99. A $10 wager on Portland (+400) to win would net a profit of $40, while a Draw (+290) would fetch a $29 profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 3.5 (+105) is worth some consideration here. LAFC rolled up six goals last time out, and it has nine goals with five conceded through two matches. Portland has scored four and yielded two, and knowing it already advanced, its lack of motivation in the offensive zone is a bit worrisome for Over bettors. Still, LAFC has enough firepower to see this thing across the finish line.

LA Galaxy vs. Houston Dynamo: MLS odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Houston Dynamo 4, LA Galaxy 1

Moneyline (ML)

The LA Galaxy (+170) have been eliminated from the MLS is Back Tournament following losses to the Portland Timbers and Los Angeles FC. The DYNAMO (+130) sit third in Group F and will be hard-pressed to overtake LAFC for the second seed. The Galaxy lost to Portland and tied LAFC.

The Galaxy have scored three goals through two games with eight allowed. Their minus-5 goal differential ranks last of all the teams in the tournament. Houston has scored four times with five goals allowed for a more respectable minus-1 differential. Look for the Dynamo to take plenty of chances on offense while not only trailing LAFC by three points but also by a five-goal differential.

HOUSTON (+130) will ultimately come up short in its push for the knockout stage, but it is the team to back in this matchup with plenty of value.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Galaxy have given up four goals per game to start the tournament with the injuries to Acosta and dos Santos proving severely detrimental. Houston will add to those defensive woes – it scored a total of four times through two games. Expect Houston to go all out in what’s likely its final game of the tournament.

Take the OVER 3.5 (-121) as the favored side of the line.

MLS: Colorado Rapids vs. Minnesota United FC odds, picks and best bets

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday at 11 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Minnesota United FC 2, Colorado Rapids 0

Moneyline (ML)

MINNESOTA UNITED FC (+115) is the play here, as Colorado (+200) has had a brutal stay in the bubble and are yet to pick up a point in two matches. In fact, the Rapids have a dismal minus-3 goal differential and enter this match knowing that they’re eliminated from Round of 16 contention, so they’re unlikely to offer a ton of resistance. Meanwhile, Minnesota enters with plenty on the line, including a potential ticket to the Round of 16 and seeding.

A winning $10 wager on Minnesota United FC (+115) returns a net profit of $11.50.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (+125) is worth a small-unit play here. The Rapids have struggled mightily on offense in this tournament. While they have conceded five goals, and that’s a bit of a concern, Minnesota has found the back of the net just twice through two matches. In addition, UNDER 2.5 goals has cashed in each of the previous three meetings between these clubs across all competitions, including a pair of 1-0 decisions in the past two matches.

Prediction

New York Red Bulls 1, FC Cincinnati 0

Moneyline (ML)

Back NEW YORK (-115) as the favorites to join Columbus Crew SC in advancing out of Group E to the knockout stage.

Both teams have negative goal differentials in losses to Columbus and wins over the depleted Atlanta United SC. The Red Bulls are minus-1 with one goal scored and two allowed. Cincinnati is minus-3 with one goal for and four against.

Injuries have played a major role in FC Cincinnati’s struggles, while the Red Bulls have skated through the tournament at full health. Expect New York’s starters to stay in this game just long enough to secure the victory and advance to the next round before being pulled out in order to preserve the perfect injury list.

Over/Under (O/U)

These two clubs played to a 3-2 Red Bulls victory when they met in a March 1 matchup early this season. Both teams were shut out by Columbus while producing a clean sheet of their own over Atlanta to start the MLS is Back Tournament.

Look for the Red Bulls to get on the board early before dialing it back with the reserves on the pitch. Take UNDER 2.5 (+115) as a great value bet at plus-money.

Atlanta United FC vs. Columbus Crew SC: MLS odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 9:20 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Columbus Crew SC 2, Atlanta United FC 0

Moneyline (ML)

Atlanta United? More like “Atlanta Disjointed” after this disappointing bubble performance. Atlanta United sits in the basement of Group E, failing to score a goal in its first two games, and is eliminated from Round of 16 contention as a result. Meanwhile, COLUMBUS (+175) has punched its ticket to the knockout stages, so it could elect to power things down a bit. Nagbe is unlikely to feature, as he is nicked and could use the rest. It remains to be seen if Columbus will go with its regular “crew” or if it will play several reserves. Either way, Atlanta is likely to be in a hurry to burst out of this bubble and offer very little in the way of resistance Tuesday, which is par for their course so far.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (-106) is the play. Atlanta has looked disinterested and has really been toothless on offense without star striker Martinez in tow. The Crew have bagged six goals and have yet to concede one, while Atlanta has yet to find the back of the net. This has the makings of a 1-0 or 2-0 match.

Prediction

Toronto 2, New England 1

Moneyline (ML)

TORONTO FC (+125) is the heavy favorite here despite the fact New England (+230) is tied with them atop the Group C table with two wins apiece. Still, Toronto’s offense has been on point, notching six goals through the first two matches.

Of course, they have also yielded five goals, and they match the Revs with a plus-1 goal differential. Needless to say, this will be a hotly contested match, even if the temperatures are a bit on the mild side before the heat of the Central Florida day gets really cranked up.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 (-150) is the way to go, although it will cost you. TFC is averaging 3.0 goals per match so far in Group C play. New England has conceded just one goal in two matches, but the Revolution haven’t faced an offense as capable as Toronto’s. Look, it won’t be an end-to-end shootout, but we’ll see at least three total goals in this battle for Group C supremacy.

Philadelphia vs. Orlando City: MLS odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 8 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Orlando City SC 1, Philadelphia Union 1

Moneyline (ML)

Philadelphia Union (+150) is the slight favorite here, with surprising Orlando City SC (+170) a tempting play at this price level. Both sides won their first two matches of Group A play and are through to the Round of 16, so don’t be surprised to see each side power down.

Orlando is fairly healthy, with no notable injuries to report; however, Santos is nicked for the Doopers, coming off at the half last time out after playing with a leg injury. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him sit in this one to get fit for the knockout stages.

Neither side is likely to push hard, so a DRAW (+260) play makes sense, and could be rather lucrative, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (+115) is also rather attractive. Philadelphia’s defense and goalkeeping have been like a brick wall through two in Central Florida, conceding just one goal, while Orlando has allowed just two markers. Both sides are likely to gladly play a defensive slog, and more than two goals would be a major shocker.
