PORTLAND (-125) is a heavy favorite to move past FC Cincinnati (+320), and rightly so. First off, the Timbers racked up six goals (two per game) with a plus-2 differential to top a competitive Group F. Cincinnati was boat-raced 4-0 by Columbus in their group opener before posting a pair of clean sheets against a poor Atlanta United side (1-0) and the uninspired New York Red Bulls (2-0). Cincy is banged up, too, and even with all hands on deck against the Timbers it would have been a tall tree to chop down.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 (-139) is the play here. Most of the Round of 16 games have been, or will be, competitive. This one is going to be a laugher, with the Timbers marching into the next round with a decisive, high-scoring result.

Minnesota United FC 1, Columbus Crew SC 0 (on PKs)

Moneyline (ML)

DRAW (+260) is the way to go. It’s a tremendous value, as this one won’t be decided in regulation. If the game goes extra time or to penalty kicks, the draw still pays based on the result after regulation. For my money, that’s the play. Minnesota United FC (+240) went unbeaten in three group-stage games but played to two draws. Columbus (+110) is heavily favored because it was the only club to win all three of its group matches.

However, Columbus GK Eloy Room missed the Atlanta United game July 21 due to a hamstring injury and is a question mark for Tuesday. He posted two clean sheets against FC Cincinnati and the New York Red Bulls in the group stages. In addition, M Youness Mokhtar is dealing with what is believed to be a groin or muscle injury. The Moroccan buried the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Atlanta, and his loss would also be difficult for the Crew.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (+100) is even money, and the way to go. The Crew posted three clean sheets in group play, while Minnesota scored just four times while conceding three goals. This will be a hotly contested defensive battle.

LAFC (-106) has been on fire offensively, rolling up 11 goals in three Group F matches while allowing seven. The good times should continue to roll against a Sounders side which will be missing defensemen Gomez Andrade and Roldan, and possibly Arreaga. That’s not good news against an LAFC offense which has been a well-oiled machine. LAFC fell 3-1 in the most recent head-to-head match Oct. 30, 2019, but is 3-1-1 in the previous five meetings vs. the Sounders.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 3.5 (+100) is the play in LAFC matches until further notice. As mentioned above, LAFC rolled up a league-high 11 goals in group play. LAFC has outscored Seattle 6-5 in the previous three meetings, and with the Sounders missing key members among their fullbacks and midfielders, we should see plenty more scoring chances for LAFC in this one.

RSL’s defensive play will it in the match, but the Earthquakes will be able to do enough to bounce Salt Lake from the bubble.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (+105) is an attractive play, as Real Salt Lake has played suffocating defense throughout this tournament. RSL’s offense isn’t tremendous, which is a great recipe for Under plays. The past four meetings in this series have each hit the Under, too, including two 1-0 results and a scoreless draw in the previous three.

SKC has posted a 4-0-1 mark over their past five meetings with Vancouver across all competitions, outscoring the ‘Caps by a 17-3 margin. Sporting has posted at least three goals in four of those outings, including a 3-1 win before the pause button was pressed back on March 1. In addition, betting SPORTING KC TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE (+180) is a very nice value as well.

A winning $10 wager on Sporting Kansas City (-200) to win outright nets a profit of $5. A $10 wager on Vancouver (+475) to win would net a profit of $47.50, while a Draw or Tie (+375) would fetch a $37.50 profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 3.5 (+135) should be a pretty solid value here on the alternate line, as Sporting Kansas City has the offensive firepower to take care of the total all on their own. As mentioned above, they have netted at least three goals in four of the previous five meetings against Vancouver.

A winning $10 wager on Toronto FC (+125) to win outright nets a profit of $12.50. A $10 wager on New York City FC (+195) to win would net $19.50, while a Draw or Tie (+275) would fetch a $27.50 profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 (-167) looks pretty tasty here, mainly based upon Toronto’s wide-open style of play. TFC averaged two goals per game in the group stage while yielding 1.67. If those trends continue, we’ll see at least three total goals. NYCFC’s struggling offense is the biggest concern here, but they should find a little more success against Toronto.

PHILADELPHIA UNION (+150) is coming off a spirited 1-1 draw against Orlando City SC last time out. They’re considered one of the favorites to win this entire thing, and their most difficult matchup of the knockout stages might be right here against the New England Revolution (+150). The books are pricing this one as a coin flip, with the Draw (+260) also available if there is a tie after full time.

I am feeling the Doopers, however. Philly looked good in scratching out four goals in group play while allowing just two. They edged Inter Miami CF in a great opening game to get their juices flowing, and the Orlando match showed a lot as they netted seven out of a possible nine points in group play.

New England’s defense clamped down, yielding only one goal in three group matches, but they scored just two. The Union have more offense and that will be the difference here. Philly is 4-0-1 in the previous five battles with the Revs.

A winning $10 wager on either Philadelphia Union (+150) or New England Revolution (+150) to win outright nets a profit of $15. A $10 wager on Draw or Tie (+260) would fetch a $26 profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (+115) is your best bet. The Revs have looked like they’re shooting into a hockey net rather than a soccer net, and their defense is in lockdown mode. Philly is also stout defensively, so goals should be at a premium here.

ORLANDO CITY SC (+100) is even-money in this one. Who woulda thunk it? Not much was expected of the purple-clad group, even if they are considered the unofficial “home” team in the Central Florida bubble.

They looked championship caliber in the group stages, going 2-0-1 with a plus-3 goal differential. They played a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the Philadelphia Union Tuesday, showing their championship mettle. Montreal (+260), on the other hand, eeked into the Round of 16 despite losses in two of three Group C contests. Momentum is on the side of OCSC.

You can also still bet Draw or Tie (+270), as you’d be a winner after full time, regardless of who would win in extra time or penalty kicks.

Look for LAFC, which has also qualified for the Round of 16, to finish up group play strong with a three-point night.

A $10 winning wager on LAFC (+167) to win outright nets a profit of $5.99. A $10 wager on Portland (+400) to win would net a profit of $40, while a Draw (+290) would fetch a $29 profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 3.5 (+105) is worth some consideration here. LAFC rolled up six goals last time out, and it has nine goals with five conceded through two matches.
