Minnesota United FC 1, Vancouver Whitecaps 1

“LEAN” on the DRAW (+280) as Vancouver has looked competent at home. They also have the more dynamic weapon in F Cristian Dájome, who has 6 goals through 15 matches.

With 4 goals in 10 appearances, M Robin Lod has been the only United player to find much success.

While the Whitecaps have given up 25 goals, taking out a 4-goal home loss to Real Salt Lake, Vancouver has given up just 4 goals in six matches at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the UNDER 2.5 (+120) as neither offense has shown much consistently. Both teams recently hit the Over against LAFC, but it’s tough to gauge their style against such an upbeat team.

Minnesota and Vancouver have a combined 105 shots on targets through 30 matches. Despite having recently found some success, the Whitecaps have the fewest shots on targets in all of MLS.

“LEAN” to the DRAW (+240) as the Rapids are still a strong side, despite their absences.

The Rapids are 2-1-2 over their last five matches. They’re coming off a rough 3-0 loss against Real Salt Lake but have recently taken down both FC Dallas and Minnesota United FC.

Without a key midfielder and defender, it could be tough for the Rapids to gain much traction. Austin FC hasn’t been competent offensively this season, with just 10 goals through 14 matches.

Expect a low-scoring, even-sided game in this one. The draw is the best value on the money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the UNDER 2.5 (-115) as Austin has one of the worst offenses in MLS. It has also given up only 15 goals in 14 matches.

The Rapids will be without one of their key midfielders and only F Michael Barrios has consistently been a threat for the away side. He has scored 4 goals in 14 starts.

Despite the Rapids’ 21 goals, I’d bet on this being a slower-paced game as they’re on the road and short-handed, having also come off a loss July 24.

The Rapids hit the Under in four of their last five matches. Austin FC played to the Under in eight of its last nine games.

Sporting Kansas City 2, FC Dallas 1

BET on SPORTING KANSAS CITY (-200) as the better side should come out on top. Especially at home, Sporting should have an advantage.

While FC Dallas may be coming off a decisive victory, it’s much less impressive when you realize the Galaxy were without F Chicharito and F Jonathan dos Santos.

So far this season, Sporting has used their home-field advantage well, having yet to lose through eight games in front of their fans. They’ve won five of eight home matches and this should make their sixth win of the season at home.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the OVER 2.5 (-165) as it’s the far better bet on the total.

Sporting has had one of the best offenses in the league and ranks second in shots and third in goals in MLS. Also, Dallas ranks in the bottom half in save percentage.

Flip the script, and it helps the case even further. Dallas has a capable attack with 18 goals through 15 matches but has given up 23.

Combine the solid attacking presence from both sides and the Over makes the most sense.

BET on FC CINCINNATI (+155) to get its first win at home. Without Arriola, D.C. United’s attack isn’t quite the same.

Along those lines, United has been downright awful away from home, losing five of eight games. Although FC Cincinnati has struggled at home, the crowd has continued to show up.

Despite their fortune so far, most teams are better in front of their home crowd. Cincinnati lost 3-0 to Nashville SC in its last outings, but is 1-2-3 over its last six games.

Cincinnati is in store for a win at home, and against a short-handed United side, it’s as good as chance as it’ll get.

BET on the OVER 2.5 (-105) as both sides have had high-scoring matches lately.

United hit the Over in four of their last five matches. FC Cincinnati has seen at least 3 goals scored in three of their last four matches.

While Arriola may not be with the team, Kamara has been doing enough to scare the FC Cincinnati defense. Backed by F Brenner and winger Luciano Acosta, FCC’s attack has also been lethal.

Portland Timbers 2, LA Galaxy 1

BET on PORTLAND TIMBERS (+240) as the best value on the money line. The Galaxy are down players and struggling recently and shouldn’t be favored, even at home.

The Galaxy are playing without dos Santos. Chicharito, who has the second-most goals in MLS, will also be sidelined due to injury. Combine those two being out, and the Galaxy attack will take a hit.

The Galaxy’s defense has been horrible this season as well, giving up 26 goals through 15 matches. Portland has 18 goals in 14 matches and should be able to capitalize, much like FC Dallas did.

“LEAN” to the UNDER 3.5 (-190) on the alternate line as the Galaxy attack just isn’t there. The Galaxy have routinely hit the Over, but Chicharito being sidelined Friday is a big deal.

The Timbers aren’t absent offensively, but expecting them to get 2 or 3 goals Friday while averaging just a goal per game for the season is a stretch. Portland has just one player with 4 goals in 2021.

Over 3.5 hit just twice for the Timbers in their last 11 games. Confidently go with Under 3.5.

Orlando City SC 1, Atlanta United 1

BET on the DRAW (+270) as the best value on the money line. After all, it seems to be the only thing Atlanta knows how to do.

United have more draws than wins and losses combined. With Martinez back, they should manage to find the back of the net at least once. They’ve drawn five of eight road matches.

While Atlanta still has three players with the USMNT in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the most important absence is Orlando City F Daryl Dike. Without Dike, expect a lower-scoring match with the outcome being a draw.

BET on the UNDER 2.5 (+100) as the better value on the total.

Without Dike, Orlando’s attack is limited to Nani. Outside of Martinez, Atlanta really has little attacking prowess, having scored just 14 goals through 15 matches.

Atlanta hit the Over in two of its last seven matches. While Orlando City was completely destroyed Sunday by New York City FC to the tune of a 5-0 loss, its defense should bounce back at home, where it has played well.

The Crew have played up to the level of their opposition and have oftentimes left the match even. They have six draws on the season and four in their last six matches.

While NYCFC has played to just two draws, it hasn’t necessarily been thriving of late, with two losses in its last four games. Both sides are in the middle of the pack in the East.

The draw here is the only way to bet the money line as NYCFC to win is far too pricey with it losing the last match between the two sides.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the UNDER 2.5 (+125) as Columbus is a low-scoring side and has proven to impose its style of play on the opposition.

The Crew have just 16 goals through 15 games yet still have six wins. That’s possible because they’ve allowed just 12 goals. NYCFC is a dynamic scoring side, having put 26 in the net through 14 matches.

The Crew rank in the top five in save rate and clean sheets. They’ve also played to the Under in three of six matches against Eastern Conference teams with 20 or more goals scored this season.

I’d bet on the Crew imposing their style on NYCFC and just a couple of goals being scored in this match.

LAFC is 4-1-3 at home. F Diego Rossi and F Carlos Vela are both healthy and the duo is the best two-man attacking combo in the MLS.

It’s almost impossible to limit that pair, especially when you bring in the speedster MF Latif Blessing. On top of those three, MF José Cifuentes has had a great season, tying Rossi for the most goals on the team with 5.

United is no pushover, but LAFC is the better team. It has won three of its last five matches and enters this game in good form.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the UNDER 3.5 (-135) as Minnesota United is not a dynamic scoring site.

The total is 3.5 due to the attacking prowess of LAFC but it hit Over 3.5 just once this season. Vela hasn’t hit his full rhythm yet and should be limited against a solid United defense.

United has given up 17 goals in 14 games. LAFC has scored 20 and given up 17 in 15 games. All the figures equate to Under 3.5 being a good bet.

BET on the UNION (+130) as the couple of pieces they’re down shouldn’t impact them too much. Blake is the most important loss as he’s their starting goalie.

GK Joe Bendik has served as a decent backup. This match will be more about Inter Miami’s inability to defend. It has given up 22 goals through 12 matches and Miami has also lost five of six home games and doesn’t take advantage of the home crowd.

Despite being down a couple players, I’d still back Philadelphia.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 2.5 (-125) as the best value on the total.

The Union will be without their second-leading scorer in Burke. They aren’t a score-heavy side as they have just 19 goals through 15 matches.

Philadelphia’s strength comes in its defending which should get a nice break as the only player on the opposing side to really worry about is F Gonzalo Higuaín. He’s the only Inter Miami player with more than 1 goal on the season.

That said, the Under hit in three of the last six games for both sides. It’s the better play but just for half a unit.
